Post order selectable by member not admin
by Guest The Old Man- 2 replies
Hi, I just had a member enquire if he could change the display order of posts in a topic so that they read from new to old at the bottom of the page/topic. I checked and found its a site wide Admin option, not member wide so that they can change it in the Board Settings section of My Controls. My own feelings are its natural to read a topic from original post downwards, but its a selectable option so it must have been considered before at some point. Any thoughts on making it a member preference setting for IPB3.0? Thanks.

[Suggestion] Quotes in Fast Reply
by Guest Malefickus- 11 replies
- 1.6k views
Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but here goes: It would be nice if when clicking the little Quote+ button that it adds the quotes with the quote tags made appropriately in the Fast Reply box (for forums that have Fast Reply enabled). It doesn't make it so fast when you want to quote someone, and still have everything such as their name, date and the post linkback thingy in there when you have to do the full reply page.

ibf_posts crashed yetagain
by Guest Cool Surfer- 8 replies

I think there is a bug or vulnerability un attended in the invision forum script. The posts in my forum have vanished again, despite changing the password, then changing the server. It is a sad thing, it has happened more than 20 times. Getting the ips driver error. Checked the sql, and there are no posts. Is there a chance that they are there n sql server is down?

My IPB 3 fears
by Guest PeterJ- 12 replies
- 3.8k views
Is ti possible that the new version of IPB will also fail to deliver, from my point of view the essential tools that are crucial for one forum based website grow? I am not talking about the code problems or skin problems. These are at the highest professional level. No questioning there. I am talking about interaction with website visitors and website members. The code is cool but it is cold. Here is my experience of IPB so far: On the left side you have this great forum company with efficient forum software and excellent support service. On the right side you have the after market with some cool sites like Invision Moding and IPS Beyond. The right side makes this gre…

Block Registration from My Controls
by Guest Katsuma- 11 replies
- 1.8k views
Root Admins should be able to block registration by going to their My Controls. This would be helpful in stopping a surprise bot/scrip attact from a wave of registrations and give them time to go to the ACP to make other changes and updates. Also, a prompt should also be in the ACP area (and in the forum) that notifies that registrations are disabled as with the "Offline" feature.

word censor issue
by Guest Andrεw- 17 replies
- 2.1k views
I think that when using censoring, it should be stripped of it's tags. It could be easily bypassed like this. Let's say the word is "test" t[b][/b]est it would show up the same, but uncensored :o

ability to "star" topics 1 2
by Guest TCWT- 42 replies
- 16.3k views
How about adding the ability to add a "star" to topics? Don't confuse this with rating topics. Gmail has this feature. Sometimes, I want to read a topic later (for one reason or another) and starring them makes me not forget it.

how do I enable php include for v2.3.6?
by Guest KiltsRock.com- 4 replies
- 1.1k views
I want to add my own custom headers, which I have already coded for the rest of my site. I've added the code in the admin tool, but the includes are not working. I'm using the latest version of ip.board (2.3.6). slainte, KT EDIT: I have edited the /init.php file, and it still doesn't work. It did work in V2.3.1.

* Microsoft Virtual Machine (for MSIE) * Sun Java™ Plugin (for Netscape, Opera, MSIE, etc..) Older versions of Netscape (on certain platforms) such as v4.08, and v4.7x may not run the software. We strongly recommend upgrading to a newer version of Netscape (v6.xx or better) if this is the case. Certain browsers running on Macintosh platforms are not capable of running our software due to problems outside of our control. As WebTV does not support Java™, WebTV users will not be able to access the live chat rooms. Users behind firewalls may need to inform their local IT/network administrator to allow TCP connections on ports 9000-9009 at client.invisionchat.com. AOL Members:…

Suggestion for permissions
by Guest Cool Surfer- 2 replies
I think if we can move permissions up n down the order, it would hasten the workin admin cp. and make creating forums easier. Like keep banned permission mask at the bottom and be able to have this sort order admin mask supermod mask mod mask member mask guest mask bot mask banned mask it would be easy to create many forums, because usually banned mask has no permissions, and if it is inthe middle, u gotta move mouse down to select the next mask, and hence loose mouse focus. permissions

Default posting style
by Guest TCWT- 2 replies

I hope IPB plans to add the ability for members to choose their default posting style (font, color, size, bold/italic, etc) if it haven't been incorporated into 3.0. This would make a lot of members happy. :D

IPB 3.0 - SEO question
by Guest BryanH- 2 replies

If we're using a plugin like minervaSEO or communitySEO on our forums right now, will our SEO be completely shot to hell once we upgrade to IPB 3.0 and start using the new built-in features?

[Suggestion] Skin ordering
by Guest AndyF- 16 replies
- 1.7k views
It would be nice to have an option to re-order skins in the ACP , rather than have them displayed in the installation order. This would reflect the ordering in the drop-down box too (assuming this option is still there for 3.0 and not moved into the control panel or elsewhere) :) Adding up / down arrows (similar to what are used in the manage components section) to the skin management area. :)

[Suggestion] Topic title / description editing time
by Guest AndyF- 4 replies
How about having a setting to allow limited editing time for topic titles / description I know you can just give a group the option to either have permission to edit them or not, but how about a time-limited option for this, thinking along the lines of a few minutes or so. (Mainly so they can fix any typo's) I know you could (for example) give permission to edit titles and set a general edit limit, but that's not the same. Some boards may want to allow unlimited editing time for posts but not allow members to edit the titles (apart from a few minutes after posting a new topic, hence the suggestion) Just a quick thought anyway... :)

Gender
by Guest Pandaloo- 18 replies
- 2.7k views
Okay. So on one of the forums i go on, which uses IPB Board, the Gender option only has three choices: Male Female Not Telling I politely asked for them to add another option "Other" for people who are transgender, bigender or genderqueer. I have been told there is a modification for it. They did not take my suggestion respectfully and members have told me it is useless and no need for it. When all i wanted was an "Other" option. An alternative to my suggestion was to just change "Gender" to "Sex". And that would be so much easier. Members did not realise that Sex is based on your body parts, and gender is much different. I have still been refused. So i ha…

I used Verified by Visa today, and they have added a new feature: a personalized message. It is supposed to help fight against phishing. The login box asks you to enter your Verified by Visa password, and also shows your "personalized message" (you set this when you register for Verified by Visa). Recently, my forums got phished big time. A replica login page with a similar looking URL caused 100s of people to get hacked. Now, it got me thinking: 1. User clicks "login" on IPB 2. Types in the "user name" 3. Ajax grabs their "personalized message" (which they set during registration) 4. The "personalized message" is shown in a third field called "personalized me…
