MEVi reacted to Kyle F in WebHosting ?
Depending on the size of your board (both activity of users and posts, resources, files, etc) you can base your specification requirements upon that. If it's a relatively small board, 2 CPUs, 2 GB RAM and 2-4GB disk space. It's usually up to the webmaster's preference on how much they're willing to spend on hosting and your hosting needs.

MEVi reacted to Linux-Is-Best in WebHosting ?
Ask yourself, how will you be managing your VPS (virtual private server)? Will it be exclusively through a terminal using SSH? Or will you be opting to use a control panel such as Plesk, Cpanel, or Direct Admin, to name a few? What other products or services will you be installing on your VPS? How many members and active visitors (guests too) do you anticipate online, not throughout the day, but at a single point? You generally want enough to run everything you're planing, plus room to grow, plus the unexpected.
If you plan on managing your VPS with only the terminal using SSH and you have experienced optimizing your configuration. Plus, your site is relatively new; I would suggest at a minimum 1 core with 2GB of ram. If you do not have any experience optimizing your configuration, 2 cores with 3 GB of ram If you're using a control panel, 4 cores with 8+ GB ram.

MEVi reacted to Matt in Bitcoin Support for Commerce
We added Bitcoin support via Stripe. A few weeks later Stripe pulled support because the exchange was too volatile.
As it stands, we have no plans for Bitcoin.

MEVi reacted to Jordan Miller in CP-Admin: Avatar & Picture of client
Hey @MEVi 👋
Forgive me, I'm not quite understanding what you're asking.
-
MEVi got a reaction from Haku2 in CP-Admin: Avatar & Picture of client
Hello,
A member can send a photo/avatar for his/her profile. But it is not possible to have in the client tab to have a picture of the client that the administrator has updated and that cannot be modified by the member.
I would like the member to be able to send a photo or avatar at his or her convenience as at present and that in the client menu of the CP-Admin it is possible to put the photo to the client, since we usually have the name and surname of the person.

Not yet, but we've been working on it for a little while now so I imagine not too too far off 😉

Just buy Radical tags.
I'm almost certain IPS privately comissioned the app because they know the functionality is needed, but it's been a third party function forever.

I hear ya. I documented your suggestion and will continue to keep an eye on things to see whether your idea gains more momentum 🙂

MEVi got a reaction from OptimusBain in CP-Admin : Login & Registration
Hello,
There should be more flexibility in the registration settings, with local depending on the service (Apple, Google, Microsoft) or global as currently.
In this context I would like to be able to deactivate the "standard" registration without deactivating "standard" the login, and allow only by Apple, Google, Microsoft registration and login.
-
MEVi got a reaction from OptimusBain in CP-Admin: Manager of TAG
I find that this feature should be native since TAGs are provided as standard.
-
MEVi reacted to CoffeeCake in CP-Admin : Login & Registration
I like the idea, on principle, of having the ability to turn off registration for a given handler, yet continue to allow login via that handler.

MEVi reacted to bfarber in CP-Admin Ban Settings: Unwanted Bots
I would recommend blocking unwanted traffic at the server level. By the time the request makes it to PHP, a lot of unnecessary overhead has already occurred if your intention is to block the traffic. You can already ban by IP address if you wish, and most legitimate spiders will advertise the IP address ranges used by their bots if you wish to do that, but again...this is better served at the server/firewall level.

MEVi reacted to Nakamura RTS in Club Categories
There is currently no decent way of creating categories and subcategories for clubs like there is for forums, downloads etc. This would be a very good QoL improvement over simply dumping all of them into a giant list with filter buttons. Please let us assign categories via extra fields or other methods. This should also come with a choice about whether to show all clubs, or separate them into categories on the root clubs page.

MEVi reacted to Makoto in We need webp NOW
WebP is amazing for lossless image compression (or rather, maybe you could say PNG is just really bad), but for lossy compression it's a bit iffy. It can sometimes beat out jpeg while preserving the same quality level but it's a hit or miss in my experience.
-
MEVi reacted to bfarber in We need webp NOW
It is recommended to output webp files in a <picture> tag instead of an <img> tag, which supports specifying multiple versions. That's something we'd have to take into account.
Also, ios14 added support apparently: https://css-tricks.com/webp-image-support-coming-to-ios-14/
I found that we have an open internal suggestion discussing this already so I've updated it. Thanks!

MEVi reacted to Everade in We need webp NOW
Regarding WEBM and MP4:
https://web.dev/replace-gifs-with-videos/
It's so much better than gif, would be amazing to have support for these.
-
MEVi reacted to Everade in We need webp NOW
1.) Display webp as image instead of attachment (handle them just like all other image types)
2.) Allow webp as image upload option in all areas (Profile Picture, Cover Photo, Forum Icon, Grid Card Image, Pages when posting content and anywhere else that i've missed)
Repeat the steps for .WEBM (would be lovely since video compression is in most cases superior to animated images such as GIF and WEBP)
Would be really great to be able to be able to upload video format types in all the mentioned areas (Profile Pictures, Cover Photo, but especialy Pages)
3.) Add an option to swap all png images (profile content and/or uploads and forum core pictures) to webp instead with a conversion job that processes all images. (That's the bigger work i guess, but would be amazing to have.)
This would ultimately reduce the data usage by tremendous bounds, save bandwith and improve performance.

MEVi got a reaction from OptimusBain in Send a newsletter to a Club members
Hello @Claudia999,
Your module offers an interesting feature for the club owner but I don't want to send a message.
Hello @Jordan Invision, Yes, I want to send a newsletter by email to all the members of a Club.
-
MEVi got a reaction from OptimusBain in Send a newsletter to a Club members
Hello,
I wanted to send a newsletter to the members of a club, but this feature does not exist. So I had to create a special group, then one by one, add each member of a defined club, which is time consuming.
I would like to be able to send a newsletter from the admin panel to the members of a Club.
