The new version is submitted and is currently pending approval.
I'd mention it again; All of you will need to sign up for a new API at Geoapify. Your current API key from Mapquest will not work.

I have settled on a new API provider to replace MapQuest - Geoapify.
Geoapify have a free tier with far more requests per day than MapQuest had. I have been in contact with them today, and there are no limitations to how we use the API, as long as you stay under their daily limit. That limit is 3000 requests per day, which should be more than enough for most of you. This is not a hard limit, but should you constantly go over the quota they will send you an email asking you to upgrade your account.
See more about that here: https://www.geoapify.com/pricing

I have converted all API calls over to Geoapify today. Just needs some more testing before I can give you an update.
Too bad the marketplace doesn't offer a way to do beta versions, or even have private testers... Can't really do a public beta version either, as the approval time for new versions can be up to a week.

Glad you got it solved 🙂

Regarding the API issues; I received news last night that MapQuest have (rather silently) decided to close all their "open" APIs, which sadly included the API used by Community Map. While there might have been possible to use other API endpoints provided by MapQuest, I will not do so because of how they've handled this and their lack of communication. I assume none of you got any news about this, even though they should be able to see that you are actively using an API that's about to be shut down.
As of the next update Community Map will not use MapQuest. I am currently exploring the possibilities to host this on my own, as there is a pre-compiled database available that doesn't have the same requirements as previously mentioned. I'm gonna check this out some more over the weekend, and I will hopefully have a solution within reasonable time.

    Member Map
    View File IPS 4.4 ONLY
For IPS 4.3, use version 3.5.7
Member Map is an application that allows your users to put their (Exact or approx) location onto an interactive map. Member Map has a permission model so you can limit which groups can add to the map.

As an administrator you have the ability to create custom groups where your community (when allowed) can place other markers in the map, for example if they would like to post the location of an upcoming meet, exhibits, shops, etc.
    For developers
If you are a developer and you store location data in your app that you'd like to show on the map, you can now do so creating a membermap/Mapmarkers extension. Instruction on how to use it is included in the auto-generated file.

We are missing the Prune/Mass Move function in 4.0.
    We need this back.

I think the best solution is by default the prune/mass move comes turned off. If the Admin wants, he can turn it on for the groups he chooses. If he gives permissions to the mods and a mod prune his whole forum, to bad for him... It was him that gave the permissions.

Another option might be to only allow Prune from the ACP and Mass Move from both ACP and Front End.

I agree with letting the admin/site owner determine who can perform this function.  It's more than trusting mods, if someone gets their password, then they can cause havoc.  I do appreciate IPS leaving this off by default because this is and will be an admin function for me.

What the problem with the Admin choose which groups can Mass Move/Prune?
If a Admin don't trust their Mods to do that, he should only give permissions to the Admin Group or even to only himself.
I also move old topics to a Section i call Archive.

I would find it easier to work with on the front end, but I agree with most of your other extra protection proposals.  Having it only available for people who have ACP access would be a good security check.

I too have seen 'accidents' with this feature.
I thought about extra protection for it, but thinking again instead of how it was in 3x and 2x ie a global mod option, how about making it only available to those with ACP access and in a global mod group ?
Another idea would be to request the users password I guess, although I am starting to think this should *only* be available in the ACP itself rather than appear on the front end...

Regarding the original poster not being able to find the setting to enable the WYSIWYG editor... perhaps display a small non-obtrusive message when using the STD editor that the RTE is an option? Similar to the message you display when a user is not using the flash uploader.

Again, do not want. It's an ACP link. It's not just yourself and your admins that use it, it's every IP.Board admin in the world. And no, we don't want yet another setting for whether the ACP link should open in a new window or the current one - it's hard enough finding anything now amongst the thousands of settings. Use your hook.

I am an IP.noob (I am getting immense mileage out of that one) fresh from vBS. My site is a mid sized (1m post) site. I have just spent the last few hours with my mod team and we have come up with this list. Some are duplicates (yes, I read all 18 freaking pages), but all important to how my mods are used to working.

    - Soft delete. This is mega important to our site as it allows us to comment and undelete if needed. Also allows users to delete without us going "wha?". This isn't just for threads, but posts as well.

    - Reputation comments. This is missed right now. People LOVE to get thanked and know who did it. Maybe even an option to make it public so the + rep and comment could show in an activity stream and/or profile. That would be win.

    - Ajax quick reply. With how jaxed up IPB is, would have thought this would be a given. Saves a lot of bandwidth and time + IMO it creates a more user fluid environment. On that note, I do like how vB4's quick reply would pop up under the post you were replying to. That was a nice improvement in usability.

    - Delete as spam - this is a much missed option that allowed us to delete a thread inline, ban the spammer and delete all their other threads all in 1 go.

    - A 'whats new' portal page that will give you a snapshot in configurable blocks of whats new before focusing on specific areas of the site. I am kind of assuming this can be done with IP.Content, but haven't gotten a chance to try yet. This could also serve as a member home page. Maybe not configurable per user, but configurable via admin - that would be very hot.

    - A contact page? I sort of assumed there would be a contact us page. Didn't realise until reading this thread there wasn't

    - Easier way to view watched content

    - Easy way to manage a 'global' sidebar.

    - Swap between editors via ajax

    - Inline edit via ajax

    - When using the RTE editor, be able to select a block of text and use the list button to turn it into a list.

    - Another user mentioned a vB mod called 'Live topic'. That was very swish and popular. The idea made the forums (and other areas governed by comments) very interactive.

I saw a few other suggestions that I have had experience with so I thought I would share. Clearly this is only my opinion and what didn't work for me could work for 99.9% of other people. I just thought I would share my experience through running a fair sized board as well as working on a lot of other vB sites. Take it with a pinch salt.

    - Social Groups. We tried social groups and it just didn't work. At least don't use vB as an example as I honestly do not know of 1 vB site where social groups are a success. With some more thought I am sure they could have been made more prevalent in the community.

    - I have 6 moderators on my site. I don't think any of them have ever used the ModCP.

    - I don't know of many vB sites where tags have really worked well. Its one of those things that everyone wants, but no one really seems to use. In order for tags to be effective, they need to be used consistently. Forum users are not consistent with tag entry. There are mods on vB that helped with this, but then you end up with a lot of superfluous tags too.

Anyhooo - Hope this helps. I may be back with more as we play more :D

We need a toggle button to switch between visual (RTE) editor, which should be placed directly directly on the Fast Reply box, and Full Editor mode box. Right now, the only way to switch between modes is by going to settings --> Posting Settings --> Enable visual (RTE) editor

I know someone also brought this up, but I will emphasize it. We need expiring redirects (and the user can set the specified time in hours, days, months, or a custom time) for moved threads. Also, we need a way to manage and set existing "moved threads" in the ACP. For example, with the new update, existing moved threads will not have this expiring redirect applied. In the ACP, please add a section where the admin can view all moved threads, and set expiring redirects as desired.

    Thanks! :)

It would be nice to set a ban reason which is displayed to the user when they try to access the forum and are presented with the no permissions page, also the ban reason to be shown in the admin/mod logs along with who banned the user - ban logs..

Being able to temp ban a member and customize the length of time they are banned for. Temp ban a member for a day, a week, two weeks, a month, or several months or as long as an administrator or moderator decides. When temp banning a member, automatically switch their group to "banned", when their ban expires they are automatically moved back into their original group as mentioned by the member above. I obviously mean a much more advanced banning/warn system that what is currently in place, not just the usual warn, suspend, ban system we have which is quite limited.

When moving a thread to a another section, have additional options to set a temporary redirect which will expire after "X" amount of days that you choose, or allow the thread to be copied to the new forum.

It's been said over a dozen time by not only me but others as well, the unapprove function and trash can is simply not sufficient enough. IPB needs more robust moderation features and administrative control, neither the trash can and unapprove function gives us this necessary control over our community's content. If IPB really wants to compete with Vbulletin, then it needs to consider Vbulletin-esque features.

Even if the price of IPB is significantly lower than Vbulletin not many are going to go through the hassle of converting because of the following reason(s):

The Vbulletin core package already contains more features than IPB does, many Vbulletin users feel as if they are getting their moneys worth even if it means an increase in price. Why would they be compelled convert to a software that essentially offers less? With Vbulletin's more robust modification community of several free quality modifications make Vbulletin a more ideal choice for administrators ten-fold than IPB does. Most who already have the money are not the slightest concerned with the increased fees of Vbulletin, IPS needs be able to grab this specific market of potential VB-converts by offering more features in their core package than Vbulletin currently does or at least features on par with those in the Vbulletin core package. Note that I am referring to the core package and not addons such as the gallery, blog, download system, and IP.Content.

Also the warning system in IPB is very minimalistic and not as robust as the infraction/warning system in Vbulletin, the Vbulletin system allows for customization and more options than the IPB system does. Also the Rich Text Editor in IPB is very wonky, I find myself often banging my head because of issues with the RTE in IPB that are so much of an annoyance I've disabled the RTE editor for myself. I have none of these problems with the Vbulletin RTE, any problems I have with the Vbulletin RTE are minor and not as excessive as with the IPB RTE.

Please don't take offense to this, I am only offering suggestions for how IPS/IPB can improve their software. I would appreciate it if what I mentioned is considered, I have so much faith in IPB that I've already secured the future of my community as an IPB community with the purchases of the gallery, blog, download system addons, and IP.Content. :)

Some other suggestions, don't know if a couple of these were mentioned yet:

    1. Better reputation system - Allow comments when giving a member a reputation, allow a member to choose how many points they can vote a post up or down with a max limit configurable from the ACP.

    2. I don't know if this is already included in some forum, but a Moderation Control Panel for moderators would be nice, saves from giving access to the ACP but allows for basic actions that a moderator can perform.

    3. As mentioned in another thread a feature similar to VB which allows for the soft deletion of posts and threads, allowing them to be restored (Undeleted) at a later time. No more do we fear of allowing delete privileges since content can be restored if it is deleted. Also keeping a post edit history, allowing earlier versions of posts to be reviewed and restored if needed, the unapprove function is simply not sufficient enough.

When you suspend a member (in the Warn Page) - The member automatically will be moved to Banned Group and his title will be changed to Banned. When he's back from the ban, he will automatically be back to the Members Group and his title will be changed. PM - You've been warned! Category Supervisor - In the Forums tabs in the ACP, you can choose a category and add her a moderator. Thanks!
