TDBF got a reaction from Marc Stridgen in Block Caching?
You mean when you create a Page block?
Yes there are some instances where you can cache a block, and these are normally with 'custom' page block, and will be found on the content tab underneath the editor window.

I just thought I would give you an update on our situation.
After speaking with our forum and staff members, they made it clear they didn't want to move to another forum software and some even offered to pay our fees (which was amazing tbh).
After the news about restoring the 6 monthly payments, this makes it easier for us payment wise and we will be sticking around for a little while longer. As for the support, I may have been a bit hasty at first!
So thank you for listening to us regarding the yearly payments, that does help. 🙂

The selection on whether or not to cache a block is when you create a custom block with custom content, and create this from the admin CP. You will not see this on standard blocks you add on the front end of the site

This has now been corrected for you, and you are able to log in. The issue here is that while your site is at root, its using files from a forums folder. There is a copy of files which are residing in the root of your FTP, and those are not actually the files your site is using. So you are editing the wrong files there. Note, you should not need any of the suggested edits above for your site to work correctly, so they have been removed.

All that was needed there was the conf_global.php file to be edited to https correctly. You were editing the wrong one there.

You will find block cache settings in the AdminCP, System/Settings/Advanced Configuration under the 'Server Environment' tab and then look for Performance. You will see 'Cache sidebar, header and footer blocks' settings.
However, you cannot turn block settings off, but you can bring it down to 1 minute.

Maybe for most people, but that doesn't change the fact that if you want to have more than the limited basic features you have to pay.
PS: I'm a gamer and use it every day, so I know what I'm talking about too.

Yes, you can create as many different version of the block.
With this, you can select which forums you want to display topics/posts from and customise it further.
I personally have never had issues with this plugin showing up in the manager, if this happens to you, please let me know and I will look into this issue.

Yes I understand confusion but we weren’t in a rush as there’s no real impact to anyone on the platform. Of course new plan purchases are different.

We have not yet sent an email to clients on our platform as nothing really changed for them. We will send something soon to clarify but in the mean time your old plan stays the same.

    Won't break anything.
Running them manually will speed up the process, however, you won't be able to change settings within the Admincp while this is working away.

You can make me reconsider, in fact, it would be quite easy for you to do so, just reduce the price increase to a 'reasonable' amount and still let me pay 6 monthly.
If you had increased your prices by 5-10%, then I would have grumbled a little, moved on, and would still be a loyal IPS customer. But this is a 48% price rise and you're removing Email support to boot. Sorry, that is a game changer for me, especially with all the other price rises I have from my hosting company and WHM/Cpanel recently.
So with that $220 saved, I can put that towards Xenforo, add another $50 and get access to Downloads and Gallery at the same time, and still pay less for my yearly subscription going forward.  Sure my users will probably miss some features, but they will get used to them eventually.

Woke up today to find out that we have a 48% rise in the renewal price and no email support, and that is the final straw for us. So, instead of $70 every six months, we will be paying $220 yearly and that starts next January. Sorry, not on guys.
With all the negative changes to the marketplace recently, and now this, means I will be moving away from IPB to one of your competitors instead.

Okay, I must be ignorant in this particular subject then, so I'll try to educate myself by asking a question. What exactly about your hosting costs more if our websites have more traffic?  I went and viewed 3 of the most popular website hosts on the market and I don't see anything about traffic/impression limits. Am I missing something?
Sorry, the clarification wasn't to insinuate that it was expensive, I was just pointing out that in reality for most of those upset in these comments about the new renewal schedule that it would actually cost them $9 more per month in actuality.
