If you have commerce, your contact form requests can go directly into a ticketing system. I have two sites set up like that and the rest just to email.
I also use this plugin by @evandixon which has been very helpful clearly describing what the contact form should and should not be used for.

@GTServices if you change the topic/page title you still get an automatic redirect because its driven by the topic id.

I’d be interested to see how that looks, can you pm me your site info?
I do use tags and also add tags into topics. One thing that has worked for me is editing topic titles to make them more relevant and have better page titles. It’s driven organic traffic on some topics that had titles not descriptive enough. I then use the similar topics plugin based off topic titles.

I use the built in IPS similar content block which is driven by tags and I also use a secondary block for similar topics based on content by @A Zayed which works out well for topics that don't have tags and ads more content to the page for readers and SEO.

I'm doing this lately for specifically mobile. Found out that I had an addthis sharing widget that was blocking some buttons on mobile. Also looking at how easy or hard it is to post and navigate. Lately I'm trying to moderate through mobile just to see how everything is as 65-70% of my traffic this year seems to be from mobile devices.

    100% agree.
The story of mobile is the biggest story of the Internet right now.  It is the overwhelming trend for everything.
I don't think ALL communities need to focus on mobile though.  If you have a highly technical community, you're probably okay sticking with desktop (based on your device usage, which you can see in your analytics).
But if your community is more social, more casual, or more lifestyle-focused, then designing for mobile should be your first priority.

Mobile continues to grow and desktop continues to shrink. As an admin, more focus on mobile; how your site renders and how easy it is to use on mobile screens is crucial. I've started to shift to using my mobile phone with my sites so I can see how easy or hard it is to interact and there's definitely opportunity to improve. Imagine if there was no facebook or other platform taking up users "online time", there's only so much of that time in the overall pie. It's still affecting forums, no matter how you look at it.

One rule I follow, unless an advertisement is going to convert to a subscription, product purchase, etc. $$$, it's not worth it. You are better off building content and creating a facebook page/networking with groups and users. You'll end up spending a lot of money on facebook and google ads if you aren't careful, for the wrong type of visitor  just to try and grow your community. You are better off creating valuable content that organically grows your community by getting picked up by search engines because someone is looking for that exact content online. Forums will survive by offering what these giants don't. Answer the question, "what can they NOT get on facebook?" and forget building communities around "sharing stuff"...move towards a "support" style niche and you'll have a a better chance of surviving. Just my $0.02!

You’ve gone this far, why not introduce a native newsletter feature which can be scheduled and tracked. 🙂 Love the new features but would like to remove advertisements per user group as mentioned.
