Working on the other groups, but should be fixed (to 20) for Active customers group.

Completely agree, along with Alex, Andy and the many others who work in the background. They don't get enough credit or recognition for the work they put in.

This isn't directed at the software but at an individual, maybe consider a feeback spot for staff or devs or whatever.

I have to say that out of everyone (everyone being staff/devs in this case) who is here, terabyte has helped me (with code error) more than all other staff/devs combined. He's a credit to the dev team and knows his stuff.

Not long winded today so to sum it up: Thanks tb for your assistance buddy and thanks to whomever put him as a dev.

    peace

You should post in the peer to peer forums for that sort of thing (custom SQL queries). :)

Saying "thank you" is common courtesy. You know, it's one of those things that makes us human. No, you don't need to go out of your way to thank the cable company unless you feel the need - but refusing to do so, when given the chance, simply because you paid them money is what disturbs me. I honestly find it hard to believe that I'm actually debating this. Courtesy is one of the few similarities between all cultures and ignoring it simply because you think you're entitled to arrogance after forking out money for services is what gets me.

I've been a customer of IPB since 2004. Next month will be our 5 year anniversary. We have a large board/gallery/blog and use Parachat, as well. Throughout the five years, we have consistently received outstanding support from IPB. At this point, I can not imagine trying to run my business without them. Getting the supported solution (we have our own IPB supported server) was one of the smartest business decisions I made.

Example: We were having issues with our database off and on during the past few weeks. Despite all of the upgrade madness going on at the moment, the guys (especially Jason and Blake) kept at the issue until they found what was behind the crazy symptoms. Of course, they fixed it. They listen to my feedback about what is going on and use that as a starting point to dig into the problem.

As a note to new customers: During this extremely busy time, I would highly recommend that if you find it is necessary to put in an emergency ticket requiring immediate attention(such as having database errors which essentially take you offline, having errors that can't be worked around while you are in the pile, or if you have your board disappear from the planet), it can help things move along a little better if you put in the ticket AND call the support phone number and explain what's going on. IPB will then pull your ticket out of that massive pile of upgrade requests and issues they are currently wading through and get to work on it. (Normally, this is not necessary.)

Of course, it is best to only tell them that you have an emergency if you actually have an emergency.

As another note: I've never seen them as busy as they have been during this 3.0 upgrade. Typically, my support tickets are turned around immediately. I've always been so happy and now my members consider them part of our team. All I have to do is tell them that I've put in a ticket with support and they begin congratulating me for having such a great team... as if I was personally taking care of it for them. Nice.

So don't worry... the turn-around time will go back to normal once it is over. I'm not worried at all.

After this last round of fixes, I felt that it was time to publicly tell the entire IPB support team, "NICE JOB!"

He was just upset that Mark was taken so he thought he'd be funny.

Gets mighty annoying if you try to send him a PM and need to type in his name. Same with Alex.

We want to make sure you're really REALLY sure.

"I selected delete from a dropdown menu, then clicked submit, then confirmed the popup but I didn't really want to delete the topic!!! Why didn't IPB ask me again to make sure I was really really sure??!?!"

You'd have to ask the community resources team for that - that's not something with ipb (and IPB does make it possible)

I kind of like that idea myself. Best of both worlds, without making it an ACP setting (*gasp*).

Unfortunately as I'm sure most of you can appreciate, these changes won't likely be in 3.0.0. Will keep all of this in mind though and see what we can perhaps come up with after 3.0.0 is released.

For the record, we introduced the "enhanced" profile before vb redesigned their profile screen. :) With the latest visitors and comments and all that jazz. Just saying. ;)

To be fair, I'll say I like what vb has done with their calendar in the mockups that I saw. It looked pretty nice. And I don't interpret their changes as copying us. As Rikki and Matt already pointed out, there's only so much you can do before the forum just doesn't feel right anymore.

While I do thank you for the positive words, you know after pointing me out specifically, coupled with this topic from a couple days ago, I'm going to hear about this nonstop now right? lol.

    Nevertheless, thanks. :)

bfarber got a reaction from Wolfie in Did i hear right that 3.0.1 is coming out in a week?
We do not have a definite release date for 3.0.1.

If a major issue is discovered tomorrow it could be much sooner than a week. So far there haven't been any really major issues reported, so it could be longer than a week.

Matt stated that we plan to push out frequent patches for a little while to address bugs that weren't caught during beta and RC testing, but there's no exact timeframe for each patch at this point.

Generally when Charles notifies me he has found a bug, I go hunt it down (because he's usually reported it by that time) and mark it working as intended or not a bug.

Then I go back and try to fix it later.
