Thomas P reacted to DawPi in Portal App
I suggest that you base the newly created portal, i.e. the home page, on the Pages application. Much better and supported by the IPS.

Thomas P reacted to teraßyte in Direct attack on attachment URLs
@Marc Stridgen The error should still be fixed, though:
Call to undefined method IPS\core\extensions\core\EditorLocations\Contact::attachmentPermissionCheck()
Even if the ID being looked up doesn't exist, it shouldn't throw a PHP error but show a proper error page at least.

Thomas P reacted to Jim M in Invision Community v4 vs v5 and hosted vs cloud
Invision Community version 5 is not out yet. It will be available for both Cloud and Self-hosted (note the license name has changed to "Classic" which may be confusing you). Version 4 will be still supported for a 1-2 years after the release of version 5. Just version 4 will not see many, if any, new features. We want to make that transition period as easy as possible.
Anything in particular making you nervous? Think the biggest improvement would be less to worry about. Don't have to do PHP upgrades, MySQL upgrades, etc... we handle that for you.

Thomas P reacted to Sonya* in Will blocking guests from viewing threads also block search engines?
It sounds like a doorway technique, called cloaking. You will be penalized by search engines if you try it.

Thomas P got a reaction from G17 Media in Hide profile information or entire member profile for marked spammers
Hi all,
we had and have spammers who try to abuse the homepage link ("Website URL") or the "About me" section, i.e. profile fields, for link stuffing and unsolicited advertisement - which is spam.
Marking the spammer using the built-in function hides the posts and threads but not the profile fields or the member profile itself.
Suggestion is to hide the entire content of a spammer after being marked so.
Regarding the profile fields specifically: Either the profile field content should be removed (A) or the entire profile should be set to hidden except for the Mods & Admins (B). This is just to give you an idea how it can be done, but in those details I trust your judgement as you are more into the details.
This is the follow-up to this q&a topic:
Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas P got a reaction from teraßyte in Bulk Email salutation template?
Thank you, we're going to think about it 👍

Thomas P reacted to teraßyte in Bulk Email salutation template?
The only other "solution" is to make a modification that sends out bulk emails without that language string. I believe it's possible, but I haven't confirmed it. If you're interested, send me a PM and I can check the code if it's possible.

4.7.15 is in beta and there is no official support yet for PHP 8.2 We did bump the PHP recommendation to 8.1 though so baby steps 😉 .

Thomas P got a reaction from Daniel F in User marked as Spammer still shows "About me" spam in profile
Hi,
an update from my side - got to know this Add-On to hide a spammer's profile with possibly stuffed "about me" or other spammy profile info:
Block Banned Member Profiles - Applications - IC Essentials (ic-essentials.com)
Works well and does what it should, I like and recommend it.

Thomas P got a reaction from Joel R in User marked as Spammer still shows "About me" spam in profile
Hi mates,
as it seems the "About me" section of a member profile shows all the added text and links, i.e. Spam, even after marked as spammer.
All posts and thread are hidden automagically but not the profile spam stuffing. So I guess our beloved spammers managed to bypass our spam measures...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas P reacted to Marc Stridgen in Error during upgrade - Unknown column
No problem at all. Enjoy 🙂

Thomas P reacted to DawPi in Error during upgrade - Unknown column
It's "standard" fields from that table (based on core schema.json) and if the DB checker didn't find anything wrong then he must have this field in that table.

Thomas P reacted to Miss_B in Error during upgrade - Unknown column
Can you check the database for the chart_timescale field to see if it is present in the core_saved_charts table? Because the error messages inidicates that it's missing.

Profile content isn't currently removed as a part of this. You're more than welcome to provide this suggestion in our Feedback forum.
