I didn’t say “demo”, did I? I said this site you are writing on is running 4.3.

All product types have one thing in common: selling something. (And as a result: payment providers, tax settings and so on.)
To rip that apart again and offer it in parts makes as much sense to me as offer linear forums and Q&A forums separately.
And as a user of Commerce, the parts that don’t interest me don’t make it odd or bloated at all. The hosting packages for example are nothing but a single ACP link I can ignore.

I am so disappointed that a simple feature I've been requesting since IP.Subscriptions/Nexus/Commerce is not included in this upgrade.  Again.
IPB has always assumed subscriptions need to be on a rolling calendar basis.  I totally understand there are a large number of communities that use that method.  However, an equal number of communities would love to have subscriptions expire on a set calendar date, configurable in the package.  My membership year is not on a rolling basis and and settinga hard expiration date in each transaction is very time-consuming.
It's one additional setting in the renewal options to set an expiration date for the package.  That's it.  How hard can this be?  What is the rationale for not including it?

    I see.
Guess there could be two announcement types: “with content” works as now in 4.3. A new type “Link” would use an URL field instead and link to any URL. That could be a topic, a system page (“Read our new Terms of Service”) or even an external page (“Check out this offer from our sponsor”).
Sounds good. Not sure they still add such features for 4.3 though.

Just because a feature isn't in this version doesn't mean we don't think it's important  We can only do so much in any one release. Clubs in particular is a very new feature and has both been used by more people than we expected, and in ways we never thought of. It will take a few releases to add everything everyone wants. I'm really glad you love the feature so much! The vast majority of our customers do not come to these forums. We get a lot of ideas for features through support channels (either explicitly or by asking "how do I do this?" for something you can't do). So don't assume "nobody has requested" something. We wouldn't waste our time adding features nobody is requesting!

Doesn’t feel like it actually. Asking someone whether one request from many that was not yet implemented makes that request “useless” makes no sense. Assuming financial interests as priority, just because one of the features implemented happens to be connected to Commerce is nothing but a bold assertion. You state it as it would be a fact. And paid clubs were indeed requested by multiple users.
Calm or not, it’s a terrible/dishonest way of arguing.

Our Invision community is ProjectGuitar.com; I have been building guitars and basses for a couple of decades now. Mostly we teach and exchange skills and advice. It's not a hidden talent. Met some absolutely stellar people through our community, seen people go from beginners to industry names and generally find you can never stop learning.
My hidden talent is Aspergers. Not sure if that counts? It totally should.

I'm, erm ... functionally fluent in Esperanto. Does anybody have a less impressive-sounding superpower? (At the very least it got me a publishing contract. There's that, I suppose.)
