Thank you for the super speedy response!
I will do that. 🙂

Anyone know why “Powered by Invision Community” has suddenly appeared on the footer of every page of my site when I paid for it not to?

That's why they're slowly making it more taxing to be self hosting to push you over.
Which is why for some, leaving will be the only option, sadly.

Unfortunate. I'd better apply some masking tape to my screen then. 😄
You could at least alter it to "change" rather than "upgrade" (it is not) and not use such a glaring green, but that's marketing for you. In the end we all make decisions.
It seems a portent to a sad day. 😑

Hello,
Just updated to 4.6.12 and immediately noticed a bright green message at the top of every AdminCP page that says in bright green:
For me, moving to Invision Community's "cloud" is not an upgrade, unless Invision wishes to re-imburse me thousands of dollars for my server and RAID, has massive file storage and complete server customisation options. 🤔
If that is not the case, could someone be kind enough to tell me how to remove this distracting advert across the top of all my admin pages. I don't mind it being dismissible (like the site upgrade notifications) but currently it's burned into the top of every page.
Is this a sign that Invision plans to eventually end independent hosting? If so, a sad day and I will of course need to make my own plans to migrate. 🙁
Thanks.
Update: I see a related thread started just a few hours ago:

In which case Invision need to get in touch with Vimeo to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile I've found a solution that works for admins but not for general members, unfortunately.
-
So is this an issue that Invision needs to talk to Vimeo about, or it it something Invision can compensate for themselves?

Are you referring to something like YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo? Or are you referring to an uploaded .mp4 file directly to our software?
Thanks for asking for the clarification. Yes, a direct paste-a-vimeo-link and automagically convert to an embedded video in the forums (just like @opentype has done above this post).
-
Hello,
The post-a-link-auto-embed-the-video facility is really neat on Invision but seems (understandably) designed for common 16:9 format videos.
Posting 21:9 (ultra widescreen) format does work but Invision leaves a lot of unnecessary white space around the embed (top and bottom). Is there a way to solve this (besides the facetious)?
Many thanks.

Understood! Thank you for looking at it. It's just my weird way of doing things. 🙂
-
Yes, you're right. It's entered as part of the description. 🙂
It's fine on the web page as presented (you don't see it there) but the Javascript is pulled through into the description displayed by the Mac Calendar entry (as seen above).
Would it be possible to add a code filter to the calendar subscription feed to strip out any javascript found in a calendar entry?
-
Sure, here's what a calendar entry of mine looks like in mac calendar.
-
For people who subscribe to our Calendars, I've noticed that if there is javascript (say for a pop-up window) in the web site calendar entry, then that javascript appears in the calendar entry description when viewed on other devices – such as Mac Calendar.
Is this the same for anybody else?
-
Awesome. 👍
Thank you for such a speedy and helpful reply!

Hello,
Is there a way to set view permissions by group for the Donations block?
I can't find it if there is.
Many thanks for any help.

Resolutions for issue are fixed as soon as we can. However they do need to be investigated, the fix written, reviewed, tested, then applied to a release. So please bear with us on this
Absolutely.
Thank you for fixing this so quickly. It's very much appreciated.

I came here to report the same thing.

A fix is required.

Sooner rather than later would be useful.
Thank you.

I don't want to name my website communities that be having problems in a public forum, my clients wouldn't appreciate it but also I like many are reluctant to post links and references to specific communities mainly because those topics appear on search results, it's unprofessional and gives a poor impression aside from anything else. Others may not appreciate doing so because of privacy or sensitivity
QFT – This is a serious point.
I can handle the price increases (10 years is a long time without one, absolutely) but the way they were communicated and implemented has been... poor.

One other note, as mentioned above, more recent PR and community management has come across as rather shallow and insincere.

You couldn't deny: It looks cleaner
I certainly could – it is a matter of opinion, not objective fact.
6 minutes ago, Thomas P said:Yes, bring up constructive suggestions to improve it.
People already have before me in this thread. We will see the outcome of such, soon, no doubt.
6 minutes ago, Thomas P said:After more than 20 years dealing with stars and ranks, it is time to look & move forward 😌
"Forward" (like the term "Progress") has no meaning in this context, only "change". I personally have been happy with pretty much everything IPS has done up to 4.5. So, we shall see.

More granular, unobtrusive and elegant.
From the looks on this board right now, it doesn't look less obtrusive or more elegant to me. Still, I suppose we will have to deal with it the best we can when it happens.
We always have alternatives.
-
Like others, we've had people earning ranks for the last 20 years.
You're about to wipe that out.
I have no interest in the new reputation system. I was happy with the way it was and had been for many years – but hey ho, we're all using this software that's developed by people that are not us. Such is the way.
Not a fan of this move, or some of the potential changes ahead. Ah well.
