so the minimum requirement is now 7.2.0. is there maximum?
Will elastic search  7.9 work with ipb 4.6.9?
    Thanks.

I installed the latest RPM from the Elasticsearch website and did not have any problems.  I did not have to rebuild my search index...  it just worked.

Thank you Randy. did you do it following the process here? https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/setup-upgrade.html

Looks very complex process for me. Might need to hire someone unless there is a simpler guide on how to upgrade from elastic search 6.8 to 7.9

How did you install Elasticsearch?  Did you install it via RPM or via source code?  Since I installed the RPM, I downloaded the latest version and stopped the Elasticsearch service.  I then ran rpm --upgrade FILENAME.rpm.

Thank you Randy. that was very easy, updated through rpm to elasticsearch 7.16.9, updated the forum.
But now elastic related functions are broken on the website. For instance, this is the error I see in the activity stream page. Can someone help me fix the problem please.

Thanks! Yes, you are right! 7.10! Sorry about that. I will set up a new instance and update here.
Should I have to turn on "compatibility mode" to communicate the instance as Elasticsearch 7.10?

That error message suggests that Invision Community is unable to connect to your Elastic/OpenSearch instance. I would recommend checking that your web server has permission to access the instance and that it is online.
OpenSearch is based on Elasticsearch 7.10.2, not 7.1

Just in case this was directed at me, as I put up the proof-of-concept information, then the answer is no - at this time, I have no intention to progress that POC to an application or plugin. I am still happy to pass on the POC code to another developer if they wish to take it on.
Also, maybe get in touch with the developer of this to see if it's possible for them to take the concept of this and implement something for other applications?

Hi. For some time (at least for me), Google has started displaying the image on the right in search results on the desktop.

I admit that it looks cool except that it does not work with the Invision Community 😞 Google apparently does not want to download the same image as the user's avatar over and over again.
Is there any hope that IC will add a feature for fetching an image from a topic? e.g. from the first post it is in.
You can use such an image to the meta tag "og" and to the JSON Schema Markup.

Allow HTML posting for admins, then add the appropriate HTML code to post a normal image in the source.
It's a chore but seems to be the only workaround we have.
I wouldn't allow this for normal users though. (Security)
There should be an easy way to post as many images as we want, as easy and quickly as possible with or without light box.

This is something that has been bothering me for some time now. Why E V E R Y image on a post must be thumb nailed and posted with a lightbox link?  WHY?
I know it is like this for long time now but still, it makes no sense to me. That would only make sense if only puts lightbox on images bigger than my upload limits. Not for smaller images like this one:

Someone knows anything that can prevent that? Some configuration that i didn't found it, any plugins, anything?

    Thank you.

Yes, that's right. You should see a bulletin in your AdminCP detailing the change and the new minimum requirement of 7.2.0.

Unfortunately, you'll need to upgrade ES after you've upgraded Invision Community.

Around ES 7.7, they changed the JSON parser which previously was less rigid in the array structures it allowed. The new parser is more strict, which means there are code changes in 4.6.9 to fix those issues in 7.7 of greater.

I am currently running ElasticSearch v6.8 on IPS Cloud.  I've held off on updating since the Elastic is now at 7.14 I believe.  Can I now upgrade to the latest version of Elastic or do I need to wait for the 4.6.9 update.  If the later...any ETA on the update for IPS Cloud?

Can we get a "New Calendar Event imported via iCalendar Feed" option added? Currently the "New Calendar Event" does nothing for those...
