1. I asked for access on October 25. Please look back through this thread. If you had an issue with giving access, you should have said so immediately, not waited 10 days to ask me for an update... when I specifically said that I would like access.
2. I did fix the error you were getting. It is still unrelated. And why is "fix" in quotes? The error you posted was fixed. If you are putting it in quotes, you are calling me a liar. I will not tolerate people questioning my honesty or my capability.
3. I did NOT ask for access after you requested a refund. Please go back and read the thread. I asked for it WEEKS AGO. Please stop trying to make me look bad, this is just ridiculous.

I just noticed that IPS indeed will do this - maybe in 4.2

I understand. But I have now 45 users that got tired of waiting for IPS to add it back and they're on their right to request improvements. Quite fair, I would say.
If IPS ever do it again, then it will become a useless resources, but in the meantime, it can help people.

So only because another framework has it in Core, someone else can't charge for it?
Interesting!

Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to rgf100 in Make better use of reputation / like information
I've just mentioned this twice in other topics with reference to the activity streams and search functions, but I'm sticking it up separately as I really do think it's important.
The use of the reputation system in content discovery seems to be zero. Here we are, our members telling us 'this is a good post' - and we don't seem to be able to use that info. Right off the top of my head here are some ways we could be using that information:
1) Show me posts with 10 or more likes - instantly you're getting a 'best of the board' feed
2) Search for posts in topics with '4.1 upgrade failed', rank by likes - you get solutions or explanations of the problem
3) Show me posts by users with over 1,000 likes - find out what our most valuable users are saying
4) Blocks of most popular posts over the last 7/28/365 days - showcase to new members of our best content; stuff to highlight in the newsletter
5) Show me my highest rated posts - the ultimate ego-search. What do people love most about you?
6) People who liked this post also liked...
7) Loads of others, I bet
I find it remarkable that the time was taken to let us filter by number of replies or views, but not by how GOOD something has been judged to be. Major missed opportunity, IMHO.
Now, it is traditional at this point for someone to point out that actually all of these things are possible, I just haven't noticed how. Do go ahead...

@newbie LAC
Could the same idea for this app be developed as a header image per forum?

Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to Martin A. in Member Map
Glad you're liking the app!
You don't need to use an address field to use this. Would actually advise against it since it require a full address. A simple text field is sufficient. Member Map will then use this field, if "profile sync" is enabled. When a member updates this field, a map marker is then created or updated with the information, if the input resolves to a physical location.
No, it does not.
Try saving the form as well.
If "profile sync" is enabled, it can be done from the profile. But in order to set the most accurate position, right clicking on the map and select "add/update location" is the best way to do this.
Adding a marker group will not fix this, as it will not be set as a "member marker group", but a "custom marker group".

OK - might need help from Martin with this then, On my map there as button on the top right corner where each member can add location - and edit the same location with that button.
You'll find all markers at yoursite.com//membermap/markers/.

Just be sure you're on the latest version and that the setting in ACP are "correct". You can check the markergroups page at my site here http://www.fjellforum.no/membermap/markers

+1 - but no matter what we say - it will never return. Only IPS knows why...

If you mean Custom Marker in the map - you can create a group in ACP first, and then you'll find all markers/groups in front www.yourboard.com/membermap/markers/

Thanks @Kjell Iver Johansen
Gitarnorge is fixed. Not sure why that fURL error keeps coming back though. The DB "errors" will be fixed in 3.1.1, which is currently being tested by @VR6Pete.

Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to Joel R in Advanced Tags & Prefixes - IPS 4.x
Dear @Ryan H.
I've been playing a little more with the Advanced Tags & Prefixes over the weekend (mainly to clean up the mess of an open prefix system on my community ), and I was hoping to throw out a couple of larger suggestions over things that bother me regarding tags. (To be clear, these points bother me about the tagging system in general, not your app.)
1. Moderation over new tags - I've always offered an open-ended prefix system so my tags can organically grow over time. However, there's no way for me to moderate the growth or to ensure the relevancy of new tags without checking each new topic's tags and prefixes. As such, I'm wondering if you can consider adding a moderation tool for new tags (eg. they need to be approved first by Moderators before they appear; otherwise they remain hidden).
2. Relational schema - I don't really know how to properly describe this, but in essence .. some sort of relationship-based system among the tags that can provide a logical and hierarchical categorization. Here are two examples of relationships:
Equivalency: The tags "dog" and "canine" are equivalent to each other, so if a user selects one of the tags to discover more content, he gets content tagged with both since they are the same. This is a huge problem for me as my users will define new tags like "dog" "dogs" "canine" and "hound" when they're all the same. Parent-Child: The tag "dog" is a child tag of "animal." So if a user selects "animal," then he gets results from "dog" "cat" and "cow." Right now, the tagging system is one big pile where all tags are equally distinct and independent. I'm wondering if you can help bring some sense of order to tagging? Maybe?

Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to Adriano Faria in Assign Staff Member to Reports
Yeah, I can add a setting for this, 'cause I believe some people will want this and some don't.
-
Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to Martin A. in Member Map
But you also have to think about those users who don't want their public location exposed. Then this would have to be an opt-in feature, which is kind of pointless as it takes the same amount of time to manually add themselves. So I'm saying no to automatically put users on the map based on their IP address (which is a very inaccurate too). But it's definitely possible to add such a task with a plugin, so you're free to get a developer to make it for you.

Kjell Iver Johansen got a reaction from VR6Pete in Auto Welcome Support
Every time a new member registers on my forum - a message is sendt by PM. This is all great, but the admin that is the sender is also getting av PM. This is rather annoying - it was not like that in 3.4..
Would it be possible to not have the auto PMmessage in the PM box of the admin sending the message?

Anyone else finding this kind of strange?
This man is selling a russian translation of this app for 10 USD - while the man actually doing the job with the app gets nothing? This is so wrong. My opinion..
-
Kjell Iver Johansen reacted to Martin A. in Member Map
It's showing you that because the table definition on your server is different to what's defined by the app. The "UPDATE" query is generated to prevent issues with NULL values, as this column doesn't allow a value to be NULL.

Kjell Iver Johansen got a reaction from Martin A. in Member Map
Yes - can confirm it is working excellent I just also reinstalled Membermap 4 yesterday on my site and it had more than 700 markers http://www.fjellforum.no/membermap/
There is one error with updating position after plotting it - think it is reported before?
