tonyv got a reaction from sobrenome in Invision Stories
Why??? What is the big deal with these dumbass stories disappearing?!? It's nonsensical.
These so-called standards to which you allude are crap. If I wanted to "blog about my daily life" I would do it right on my forum. If I wanted to make disappearing blog posts, I would go to one of those idiotic social media platforms and do that.
I disagree.
No, we don't. Thankfully, forums are not childish chatsnap, nor should they be.

tonyv got a reaction from Thomas P in Quick request if you have 2 minutes...
I'm in this for the long haul. I came to Invision when I realized, pretty quickly, that free options are wholly unsuitable for the longevity I need. When your "free" forum disappears after all you've put into it, you'll have absolutely no recourse. With a paid option there is accountability. Invision has stability and a track record you can count on.
@Matt,Hopefully that's one more you can use. I'd really like to see that promised pic!

Hi all,
I have a request that will only take a few minutes of your time, and will give you something in return.
We're finally getting around to creating books and guides to help new customers get comfortable on the Invision Community platform.
I'm looking for a few positive quotes and 'soundbites' we can use on a few pages around the site, on social media and in these guides.
Hopefully you've got nice things to say. @LaCollision gave us a very nice quote a while back.
So things like:
That sort of thing. If you have a specific use for Invision Community, then we'd love to hear from you.
If you are happy to leave a comment, please also leave your name and URL to your site.
If the site is safe for work, then we'll link back to it when using any quotes on our site and on social media.
We get a fairly health bit of traffic so I'm sure you'll get a good number of click throughs too.
If we get 20 useable quotes, I'll post an exclusive picture of Charles and Lindy holding a hotdog from 2008. I did not seek their permission before making this promise.
Thanks for reading!

tonyv reacted to Dean Spencer in Spam via Contact Us - Call to Arms!
I had this issue long ago and I fixed it....but since then my life has become horrible. No longer do girls in my area wanna meet me, no longer do I get ad's for free weed, and it's been a while since I heard about the guy who told me my russian grandmother passed away and left me 100 million dollars...

tonyv reacted to bfarber in Spam via Contact Us - Call to Arms!
We have discussed this, but it's tricky. For instance, I considered looking at calling our IPS Spam Service for emails sent through the contact form, but we decided that this couldn't be done because a valid user who was blocked from registration by the spam service would then have absolutely no way to contact the site admin to let them know or get assistance.
Unfortunately, if you leave a contact form in place, spammers will use it. It's tricky to block spam effectively here without resorting to "hacks" (like scanning the email for specific text which may not actually be indicative of spam).

It also throws off the design of the Our Picks cards. Usually I choose the first paragraph or teaser text

The idea is that you add a short piece to entice people to click. Copying the entire text doesn't give your audience a reason to click the link and contribute.
You can edit the text in the box before posting.

tonyv got a reaction from Cyboman in Mobile App, Progressive Web App (PWA) For IPB
I'd like to go on the record: an app is neither necessary nor desirable. Sixteen year old girls? Yes, I like 'em, but it's not part of my target demographic.

tonyv reacted to TheWorldNewsMedia.org in Mobile App, Progressive Web App (PWA) For IPB
My 16 year old niece was about to use a page on my site a year ago... and then again a few weeks ago. Each time should would go to the responsive web page, look at it, get somewhat excited about the idea and then instantly look up at me and ask "Do you have a web app?" ..... She hasn't posted once. 😒

Why put in core? It's already part of Pages.
Why not take some time to learn a little bit more about Pages?

This isn't the first time I've been told the horde will win …
… but yes, I agree the mobile site (not the mobile app ) needs to remain fluid.

We are not ignoring this topic. We just haven't commented is all.
