We could have added hundreds of lines of HTML to add rounded corners, but for something so unimportant I don't think that's worthwhile. It doesn't affect the usability of the software, so in our opinion, it's something that the newer browsers can use, and the older browsers can just ignore :) Not everyone is going to want rounded corners on their skin, which would leave them with all those extra tags that would be useless.

Personally, I think creating a working base then enhancing it where browsers support particular features is a better way forward than trying to strong-arm all browsers into one pixel-perfect rendering.

I have to agree completely. I try to stalk terabyte around so that I don't miss any important posts he has made. This is especially true in the tracker and he seems to provide fixes for bugs he finds.. Crazy!

Keep up the good work Tera!

Sure, my members were furious with the update and the majority complained about the "view new content" feature. They wanted the old style back, and IPS has added this back. In addition, they wanted more information with the "view new content" such as who created the thread and which forum it was created in. This appears to be back as well. This is just off the top of my head. I am not sure if they will put the "back to top" link where is used to be, but my members also complained about this too. Of course I am not happy about all of the changes or customer support, but at least for me, this update will make a lot of my members happy.

3.0.1 is looking to be a nice update. Most of the complaints from my members were addressed in 3.0.1. Great job IPS.

Completely agree, along with Alex, Andy and the many others who work in the background. They don't get enough credit or recognition for the work they put in.

This isn't directed at the software but at an individual, maybe consider a feeback spot for staff or devs or whatever.

I have to say that out of everyone (everyone being staff/devs in this case) who is here, terabyte has helped me (with code error) more than all other staff/devs combined. He's a credit to the dev team and knows his stuff.

Not long winded today so to sum it up: Thanks tb for your assistance buddy and thanks to whomever put him as a dev.

I'm curious to understand how UTF-8 could resolve all issues like this ? :o

BTW, Brandon, Vince , I've already done the "Help files" modifications:  :P
    - It integrates smartly in ACP,
    - it supports up to 255 languages (or more if you want)
    - it require only 3 files modifications, and one SQL update to add a lang column to the FAQ table

Are you interested to review or integrate this patch?
If yes where should I send it ?

Also would be nice if the popup with the differences needs to be closed clicking on the close button because if you click by mistake outside it you need to click again compare differences. (probably you can make this change also in 3.0.1 instead of 3.1 :P )[*]A nice addition in ACP would be to make the same modular thing made for the groups also for the forums, I know a lot of mods out there adds settings to each forum and a system like the one used for the group permissions would help a lot modders.[*]Can you please add 2 more parameters ($lang_file and $app) in the getTemplate function of the hanEmail class? If we use an email template from another file we ned to load it before calling the function and if for any reason the check of the language set by the user fails the board loads the default file with the default language that of course won't have our custom email templates. For now I solved the problem writing my own getTemplate functions but honestly is a bit annoying that I need to copy/paste the same function just to change the template name (I think I have done the same thing for IP.Tracker if I don't mistake :P)[*]Now that you added the small icon to let us know which topic we are tracking in forum view can you also add a link to that image so we can unsubscribe from those topics without opening them one after one? :o (Maybe with some nice ajax code to not reload the page :D)
In the skin editor when you click the button "Compare Differences" the popup is too small, it should open with a bigger size like when you click on the green button on a template tab to work full screen on the template.

I like instant gratification - the forums are moved. How does it seem now?

Note: As this is a fresh server, we may need to make a few tweaks here or there. You should, however, notice an obvious and immediate improvement.

Josh has completed 95% of the subscriptions manager. I'm going to sort out the gateways (PayPal, etc) early next week. Keep an eye on our blog as we'll be asking for testers next week to help debug the subscriptions manager.

If you feel the site is slow, all I can say is I'm sorry.

As Lee mentioned, we're routinely doing debugging on this site for various reasons (especially given that we are running pre-final software) and this factors into a lot of things. We found an issue yesterday where a couple of requests to a specific topic triggered some infinite loops which slowed things down. We fixed those things yesterday and restarted Apache, but, the point is we're running pre-final software and we are still finding the odd-off issue now and then. Matt truncated the topic markers table today (no doubt was a little slow), which means a lot of processing for all users at first to rebuild marker records. There are constantly things going on that will affect speed, so if you are noticing fluctuations (like you've mentioned) then attribute it to the fact that we're probably doing something, or something else is happening on the server at the moment.

When you test the software on your own server, and find specific issues, please do report them to us. A general "the site seems slow" topic isn't too overly helpful on it's own, however, I'm afraid. :)

I just want to say that something is definitely right about IPB3.0.

In the couple weeks that IPB3.0 RC1 has been out, I've already downloaded a dozen hooks/mods that have drastically improved my forum. My members are loving the little features here and there.

Although I can't say I know much about the code, I will admit that it seems a lot easier for modders to create really awesome hooks (with relative ease?). New mods are released almost everyday, and it's obvious that there should be some really awesome applications in the near future!
Specifically, want to give credit to some of the community devs/coders who have already released some really useful mods: SOSInvision, Michael, m4rtin, Alex, MichaelJohn, tera

Calm down. It will probably be released in August hopefully.

I remember on the preview boards it was about January, and I said final would come out March. People jumped in and said it would come out before Feb. (If I recall correctly)
Either way, back then I guess we didn't properly estimate things or whatever.

You've waited through all these betas. What harm could a RC2 and RC3 have?

    ---seriously---
I know it's taking a long time. But alot of work is being put in the software. Rushing has its limits. After a while it gets distracting and irritating. Just wait a little longer.

BTW, Have you seen how big these bugs were? At least IPB had the courage to go and squish this!

That guy over there. That's probably Charles. Bfarber is hidden in one of those trees with a ray gun. Charles is getting ready to sweep up the mess after bfarber's ray gun blast.

Yes, Gallery, etc. required very little changes - just a code upgrade from the 2.3 code to the 3.0, and are now "done" - subscriptions manager requires a few more changes, and so is not yet :)

The subscriptions manager hasn't been forgotten about it - we recently had a big discussion about the direction to take it and as far as I am aware, Matt is working on it today.

We are aware of the problems with the subscription manager (which are mainly related to third-parties updating their APIs) and so it's taking a little longer to fix those issues than say, Gallery, Blog and Downloads which just needed to be updated to the IPB3 code :)

Graeme S. reacted to Kingdom in Will IPB 3.0 have normal group managing or we will still have to use c
I have a gaming site that features clan forums to the clans that want to join the network. I have the same problem with IPB and that was just a huge workload on the administrators to actually do each group change manually. As i had created a ticket a while back, the only way to do this is by actually allowing the member to access the Management panel on the Admin CP, . This is obviously not good... i also added on the ticket a question to know if they had any plans to include this on future releases, since the answer was a no, i had to manually write a script that would do the simple requests:

I have a panel that allows me to add a moderator to any group that begins with "Clan %" on the database. This way the scripts adds the user on a separate table named clan_group_moderators. Once logged into the system, the script will check if the user is a clan moderator and allow the following:

    Group moderator functions:
    -Invite user to join usergroup
-Remove users (group moderator removal only allowed by administrators)
    -View usergroup member's list
-View pending invitations to join the usergroup

    Group member functions:
-Accept the invitation to join the group (by accepting the group moderators will be notified on their next login, and the user's field mgroup_others on the database will be updated by adding the usergroup number - this little change will also allow the user to see/post on the all usergroup's forums)
    -View usergroup member's list

This was a really simple modification i did in a day, and i'm not a very experienced programmer.

Well, to sumarize, here's another vote (again) for this modification.
    Thanks!
