Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
JanetGeorge Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Since the last upgrade, I have been inundated with them. What can I do (keep it simple please - I struggle with IT.)
JanetGeorge Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 Please - there must be an answer to this?
opentype Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Have you activated this in the Captcha settings?
JanetGeorge Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 Mmm - will check that - but I don't allow Guests to post at all anyway.
opentype Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Posting and contacting are different things. You didn’t give much information. Are the spam posts made by guest or members? If it’s members, you need better registration protection. If it’s guests, you need to protect the contact us form for guests (as mentioned).
JanetGeorge Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 Aaagghh - and I can't even FIND Captcha settings. Invisionboard has grown FAR more complicated since I first started using it - about 14 years ago. I just can't keep up.

JanetGeorge Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 Good grief - that is FAR too complicated for me, lol. I'll have to put up with the spam until my IT-type husband has time. Thanks.
Joel R Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 The Admin Control Panel can be confusing for anyone. Don't worry. Just take a deep breath and spend some time looking for captcha and spam settings. 1. There are official IPS Help Guides on Spam by @Rhett 2. Use the search bar as @opentype suggested to easily find what you want. 3. If you're new to Invision Community 4 then spend some time going through each menu, tab, and setting. It's okay if you don't understand everything on your first pass, but later on you'll remember so-and-so setting. 4. Don't panic or give up. If you can share more information with us, the community will be happy to help.
Joel R Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Also, other users have reported this problem as well so it's not just you.
Tripp★ Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I have reCAPTCHA 2, and it appears on my contact form yet I keep getting spam too. Pretty aggressively, though our contact form. Oh and this only started a week ago.
Adlago Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 For registration I use the QA. But why does this QA not appear in Contacts Us for guests?

Adlago Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 So far, the only effective method for stopping spam over Contacts Us is IP ban in server (ip blocker). By opening the spam mail source, there is a sender's IP. I have blocked 5 IP addresses and for the past 24 hours and I have no more spam. If you have the benefit - block these IPs 109.61.213.13 95.37.205.51 85.29.187.230 176.222.155.22 185.230.127.99
