New Suggestions for IPB 3.x

1.) It would be really great to have some sort of feature that would notify admin when a certain member is online. Like PM or email notice stating that member XXXXX is now online. 2.) while we have the ability to edit permissions for all user groups, I would like to see the option to set individual permissions per member. (optional of course, and if this option is ignored then that member would fall under the standard permissions already set for his current group.) 3.) Editable profiles where members can change their profile appearances to reflect their personality. Kinda like you can do on my space, or even in the IP.Blog. I think I may have suggested this already, but I really want to see this in IPB 3. Currently post icons are hard to add, and seem to be almost 100% aesthetic, I think they in IPB 3 they should... Be easily customizable Have options to require use of them in specific or all forums Have an option disable use of post icons in posts other than the 1st of a thread Ability to search threads by post icon Basically I'm suggesting IPB should be able to accomplish something like something awful, just less awful. :lol:

Since the only way to put members into the banned group is in the ACP and not on the warning page (the actual group changing) or the edit member page, it makes it where it's much more annoying to be able to move someone to the banned group. You have to go into the ACP and search for the member rather than simply doing a couple clicks if it were on the edit member page.

I just want to know, for some reason, in previos versions of IPB, when you ban a member he wont move automatticaly to the 'banned' group. I want to know if this action will be included in IPB3, and if it can be added in case that it doesnt.

In vBulletin they have a mod where members can't post or PM links or images untill x posts. Either group or by post, it's nice. Basically it helps prevent spambots from doing much...since they're there for links. I'm on two forums that get a lot of bots. It's very rare that a bot posts something. Even if it does it's generally harmless.

Okay, I really just upgraded my forum to 2.3.5, and I don't feel like redoing my mods modifications (well those that have these sources/x edits). I want to know if there will be a script to upgrade 2.3.5 to 3.0 when 3.0 comes out? Thanks in advance.

Invision Portal on 3.0...

The reason I am asking about the portal is because over the years we went from Portal, to IPDL, to Nexus (still unavailable) and whatnot. The current portal is pretty weak in some areas (especially latest posts) and I'm wondering if there are changes in the works for the new version of IPB? I know there are other portals (i.e. MKPortal, Unreal and Fportal....). However most are not completely compatible and won't work with options like Blog inclusion and gallery. -Dom

PIN & CLOSE as a moderation menu choice?

There used to be an option in the message moderation drop-down to PIN & CLOSE a message. Now, it takes two steps to accomplish. Can that feature be brought back, please? It was extremely useful.

Hello, Today, I saw a ton of bots post inappropriate content on my forum, so I logged into the admin panel to start deleting accounts, when I saw the update. http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...p;#entry1759765 I have edited the files, and everything, and ate supper. Came back, and bam!, 4 new users with posts on the forums. I Enable Captcha using Advanced GD Library option, and am using Captcha Fonts. Does anyone else have any suggestions to this issue? Hey! I'm due to renew IPB on 8th October 08, and am wondering that if I do not renew then, will I have to pay a full $150 (or whatever it is at IPB3's release) or just the usual renewal charge if I renew in say, December when the 3rd IPB3 Beta is out? Also, if my IPB support has expired, is my Blog and Downloads support still valid? Thanks :)

Ignore enhancement

I recently had a problem between two users and it seemed almost pertinent that I absolutely ignore PMs but posts weren't quite so necessary. Unfortunately there is currently only a way to do a full ignore not a partial ignore so it would be nice to at least split ignores into two like ignore PMs and ignore posts. I know it would be easier for my members to put someone on ignore PMs from certain users if they had the option.

Hello people, I want to say that IPB is by far the BEST forum platform EVER. I want to make some suggestions for the new IPB 3.0.0. I don't know if those are exist already but i really want to see them in action. All of the forums have bad members that really mess up the board and sometimes they make the life of admin and global mods difficult. One way to eliminate this is to install a mod called Token Of Death that will make some hard work for you but this is not very accurate all the times. Then i had an idea. How many people in one forum have the exact same password? I mean realy if you could see the password of the users there are no many users with the same…

Hi, I got a 2.1.3 about 2 years ago. By that time i installed that on a copy of my then current database as a test in a 1.2. It worked alright. However, 2 years later i installed the same script in my current database that is of course bigger than 2 years ago but except for that anything else is the same. The upgrader didnt run properly so i had to upgrade mostly manually. I managed to fix most of the issues but some of them persist. I heard that IPS doesnt upgrade forums with mods, and mine is heavily modded so i decided to try myself departing from the fact i could do it 2 years ago. 1. Full functionally in the ACP: custom fields, required/not required field. 2. Support for reCAPTCHA. 3. The "(?)" thing is something minor, but I would suggest making it maybe a CSS button, so when I register I can tab from field to field without jumping to the "(?)". 3. "Password Strength" checking with password suggestions also. 4. And one more suggestion not related to the registration: If you post a topic and a few moments later you try to post the same topic with the same title and body, it will tell you that you already have posted a topic like that. (This is available in vBulletin)

There should be a option to send the reports to global moderators too in each "forum settings". When we put local moderators they receive the reports and the global, not. But if I still want global moderators to receive reports i need to put the group as moderator. And that mezz up with the design/layout of how I want the information presented in the forum.

Private Threads INSTEAD of PM's 1 2 3 4

Is it just me, or is the current PM system annoying. When replying it turns into a quote mess. I post on some infopop boards, and they have a much better function called "Private Topics." Basically its like each member has their own forum in their PM area. You can send a message to somebody, and if they accept it, then both users have the thread in their PM area. The threads work as normal threads and only those users can see them. When replying, it adds a post underneath, as usual, and moves the topic to the top of your list, just like a forum. Does anybody else think this is better than PM's? I would love to see something like this for IPB2.1 to completely replace…

Yes, it is his job to do customer support, but he has been so helpful and seems like he goes out of his way to assist me with any issues I have had or questions. Search system

This needs to be improved as well. It's mostly the same as 1.3, didn't really change much. IPB search is crappy compared with other boards. Stuff that should be included in the Search Form: - search titles/entire posts - topics containing at least/at most X posts - sort results by: relevancy, title, number of views, thread start date - find posts from: since your last visit, yesterday - find posts from user, posts started by user, threads started by user Lastly, the possibility to edit the posts/topics in the "search results" page instead of viewing the topic and clicking on EDIT. This would come in very handy.
