I didn’t get an email either. I had no idea about this. Did I read this correctly that the starter plan won’t be affected by the upgrade?

Certainly sounds like it. Hope you manage to get things sorted

Good luck!  I’m fortunate that I was given access to the old server.  So I was able to export everything myself.  Sounds like you’re battling just to get started.

If you want IPB to import attachments, avatars, etc you’ll also need to provide the paths to those. The converter will ask you where to find them. So just make sure you have the files dumped somewhere and know the path. You don’t have to deal with permissions or editing scripts though at this point.

If you’re doing that, just toss the files somewhere in a sub folder, and then restore the MySQL database. If you want to actually access and login to the old instance you’ll need to edit the Xenforo config file to specify the new absolute paths and URL (and possibly the DB credentials). You will also need to fix some file permissions.

If you’re not bringing the old board actually online you just need the files and database to point the converter to it.

I moved my Xenforo files to a different folder location. (I moved it to a folder called archive.) The reason I did this was to still have the old board available for reference if I needed.
That let me put my IPB files in the site root.

You have to 2 options imo. Either  install Ipb to a different folder, say forum. So its url will be yoursite.com/forum
Then you can do the conversion and then move Ipb to the root.
Or you can move your xf to a different folder, install Ipb directly in the root and then do the conversion. Personally I will go with the latter option. Hope it helps.

They should be on separate folders. What is the url to your xf forum? Do you have installed it in the root or in subdomain or other folder?

Based in Daniel's explanation above, I added a setting so the admin can now choose trusted user groups who will be able to react in private messages:

People that cannot react are still able to receive reactions.

My biggest challenge was when I did the conversion, I consolidated some of the groups.
On the old Xenforo instance, there was Supporters2018, Supporters2019, Supporters2020, etc.  When I moved the site to IPB, I made a new Supporters group and consolidated all of them into the one group.  The only “challenge” I had was that users groups ended up listing “Supporters” multiple times.

Outside of that, it was pretty painless.  After the conversion and before you turn back on your new board, I would suggest making sure you go back and check permissions for each member group as those don’t automatically get set.  Personally I would run through EVERYTHING to make sure all of your settings are correct.  You’ll spend several days afterwards catching minor oddball things.  Like needing to add permissions for mods to bypass rate controls etc.

I converted a site from the 2.1 Xenforo pretty painlessly.  It did take awhile, but this site had 10K members and over 5M posts and over 400K a private messages.

At least on the 2.1 converter, topic redirects worked for me.  You have to make sure to keep the converter installed afterwards I believe.

I converted a community from XenForo to IP.Board, the converter worked great, too bad it doesn't generate a redirect system and so the indexing of XenForo is lost....

Download the converters when you download the 4.6.9 from the client area, I havent done XenForo but have done vB and the converters are pretty good and IPS are good at helping if the converters give a problem

Agreed. Anyway, I think this should be an admin’s decision. He can control new accounts with email validation, check IP address, restrict messenger for the initial group, restrict number of reactions per day, etc.

Reactions are not available within private messages or within the warning system.  (Meaning other moderators cannot use reactions when commenting on other internal conversations in the warning discussion.)

    Well, not really.
I may have missed an email notice about this, and only found out about the change in Cloud Hosting Plans for 2022 this morning when I saw this Topic.
I have a modest Board that is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in March 2022, and is funded primarily via voluntary Donations. I am currently in the Ultra 100 User Plan at $70/month. After checking with Support on my current Usage/Page Views etc I am told I will need to change to the “Growth Plan” at $142/month. That is over DOUBLE an increase in Cloud Hosting fees with no explanation as to why.
Lindy as Manager, is there any flexibility for clients that are getting whacked by this change in Cloud Hosting Packages?
Can I speak to you or another Manager over the phone, person to person, or establish an email dialogue?

That would indeed be the only way in which to do that. There is a guide here on promoting members if this is required

You could create a rule which promotes anyone who has more than X content into a new member group. Then give that group permission to create clubs.

Search the ACP for Group Promotion Rules for the area to set this up.

I do something similar for new members. They actually can’t post links until they have more than 10 content items. Once they do, they’re moved from the default group (I call it Newbies) to the group “Members” which does have permission to post links.

Different feedback for different quizzes? Not sure if it's been asked already way too many pages to search but is there an option or is it something that you can add if not? Thanks!

Hey guys, could anyone point out how could I remove this container from the Forums section? I dont really see the point of it as we already have a Create on the Header so in my case this is just distraction, especially because I am using Forums as my Landing Page. Thanks for the help!

You can actually install only one “copy” of each resource in your system.
If it’s not installed and still displaying the message, send a PM so I can take a look. 👍
