Look below your list of messages for "Disable My Messenger"

Thank you. I looked and did see "Disable My Messenger", which means it's enabled, right? That member has only 3 messages, all text, nothing big, so I don't think they're going over any kind of limit.

Not sure if would help you in the overall scheme of it all, but there is a Block within the Block Manager that will allow you to do what you mention above.  Within the Pages section try using the "Page Builder: Text" block. You can input html in the "Text" box and then create a "Border", "Padding", "Font Size", "Font", along with a few other pre-set options in the "Advanced" tab.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't immediately obvious that I could enter HTML in that block, but it seems to work great. 😀

Each text element is under one of those categories (medium for example), and so would affect more than one area. If you wish to change the font size of one item specifically, you would need to customise this in CSS in your theme.

    Ok thanks Marc.

Is there a way to tell to which category a text element belongs to? For example the <p> element in Pages?

  4. I'm trying to customize font sizes a bit, as I generally find them a bit too small for my liking.

To change the font size for the text inside the forum posts, I went into my theme > Font Scale, and changed "Medium Text". However that also changed the size of the last post titles listed next to each forum on the home page. Is there a way to avoid that?

I also would like to change the default font size for a <p> element in Pages, and I'm not sure which one to change?

    Thanks!

The little difference between /forum/ and /forums/ (as the default URL slug for the forums) means that either all your existing links and search engine results will break or you would have to customize the forum app URLs to keep the old links. Either way, this needs to be planned and tested carefully.

The more I think about it the more the idea of customizing the forum app folder name sounds like a great idea, however would it present issues with future updates of the Invision Community software which would expect that folder to be named /forums/ and not /forum/ ?
If you believe there are no issues, then would that be a service you could provide? If not, could you recommend someone who I could contact to help with this?

    Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I will try it and post back here.

Is there any reason for it? Why don't you have installed it on the root domain?

my old phpBB was installed in the /forum/ folder to not confuse with my wordpress blog which is in the root domain. Now that I have Invision I intend to use only Invision for both the blog and the forum.

Apparently here on this site the forum is in one folder:

    https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/

    And pages is in another:

    https://invisioncommunity.com/news/

  8. Right now all my Invision apps are installed inside a folder named "/forum/" (as it seems to be right here: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/)

However that means if I go to my blogs then the url becomes mydomainname.com/forums/blogs/

Is it possible to move the apps so that the blogs can be accessed directly from mydomainname.com? And so that I can use Pages to create for example a home page accessible from mydomainname.com ?

I think you need to work the placements out and check out via incognito browsers if the ads are appearing at the right places, visually.

if you dont have ads appearing at all the places then you will get lesser revenue , ofcourse.

your issues sounds like an administrative issue that has to do with the links.

try to find documentation of the software you used to use before,

what to do when migrating from x to y.  you might need to do specific changes for that!

I remember back then my server admin did such work to ensure exactly that and it worked

dont lose ANY time !  Do not just wait!  =>

on another license of mine with 400.000k,   in another occasion, a different server admin made a irreparable mistake, with the robot.txt which was only unnoticed for 10 days and cost 60% of pageviews for 4 years !!!!

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience, it's very useful to me. I have worked hard to customize the ad placement with my ad publisher so that the ads appear pretty much the same way they did before migration.

I'm not sure what you mean by administrative issue that has to do with links? I didn't find information about specific things to do before migrating from phpBB to Invision.

Here's what my robots.txt file looks like:

    # Rules for Invision Community (https://invisioncommunity.com)
    User-Agent: *
    # Block pages with no unique content
    Disallow: /forum/startTopic/
    Disallow: /forum/discover/unread/

    Disallow: /forum/search/
    Disallow: /forum/*?advancedSearchForm=
    Disallow: /forum/register/
    Disallow: /forum/lostpassword/
    Disallow: /forum/login/

    # Block faceted pages and 301 redirect pages
    Disallow: /forum/*?sortby=
    Disallow: /forum/*?filter=
    Disallow: /forum/*?tab=
    Disallow: /forum/*?do=

    Disallow: /forum/profile/
  10. To monetize a community the sticky sidebar ad unit is a big earner and generally not too disruptive to your readers. I wish we could add a sidebar to nearly every page of the Invision community including:

    • Search (including Search results).
    • Profile
    • Private Message
