Not really asking, just know that someone is going to create a thread asking, so thought I'd toss it up so that the initial "When It's Ready™" and complaints about people trying to rush IPS will all be out of the way.

    :)

If you think I'm actually asking when IP.Board v3.0.2 will be released, then you need to read this post again. Continue until you stop thinking that I'm seriously asking.

Wolfie got a reaction from Ahtuba in Ticket Prioritizing
Lindy, what about something where the user can check off a list of things that match their problem..

Please choose from the list what best matches the issue you are having. ( ) Is your board offline, inaccessible or giving errors? ( ) Are you having a problem getting into the AdminCP? ( ) Has your board been hacked, attacked or in some other way compromised? ( ) etc ( ) None of the above. Picking the wrong item from the list can cause delays in your ticket. If you are unsure of what to pick, then pick none of the above.

A few like there where the person can choose what best matches their problem (similar to the list you have but could be after they have submitted the ticket the first time and before the final submit. "None of the above" could be pre-selected and would cover things like low priority items. Obviously it's hard to cover all high priority items, but if there are 3 for high priority that are generic enough to cover a wide range (but specific enough to eliminate false positives) then that could potentially help prioritize some of the tickets.

Obviously the ones marked "None" might benefit from a fast review by a staff member to see if it's a high priority so it can be bumped up in importance, while leaving the rest of the tickets alone, but no system is perfect.

Hope something in this post is of some use, be nice if it helped to improve the ticket times, even if only a little bit. I've generally never needed to submit a ticket for problems on my boards before, but I can imagine how the customer must feel when it is an important issue and every minute seems like forever.

What if it's not discovered until after the contest has been over for a couple of years? If the original author can prove ownership, then even if IPS were to remove all traces of it from their software, the damage would already have been done.

Don't get me wrong, I want a few new or updated smiley faces too, as another topic of mine will show. But in there is where the mention of copyright/etc was brought up.

The problem is that someone could come across a really nice one that they haven't seen anywhere else and/or know for a fact that it's painfully rare and submit it, claiming that it's their own design.

Welcome to the IPS forums, have a free (+) from me.

I've been using IPB for a number of years now and am quite pleased with the product. Yes, there are times when they don't include an option that I think they should or make changes that I wish they wouldn't, but that's a part of life with any product. I'm one of those who was hoping IPB would go on one more testing release before going final, but oh well. IPS definitely stands behind its product and does its best to fix the bugs that are found, no matter how insignificant some bugs may be.

When you take the plunge, I encourage you to give consideration to the community suite, as they will give you an up front discount of $15 (you get IP.Board, IP.Blog and IP.Gallery) and then the optional renewal fee is $25/6 months. After the first year, you will end up saving $50/year that way. Of course, renewal is optional but when you do decide to renew (even if it's a year after the invoice has expired), you just pay $25 and everything is considered up to date again.

So welcome to the IPS world and I hope you enjoy your stay here. :)

    Hi,
I really like the new design of the IPB 3, in the past I'm not an IPB fan, but my choice has fallen on vB for reasons of which now I don't want to discuss (The past is past), but now I was really impressed by this new form that has introduced IPB and I don't see comparison with the present and the new vB core... this make me a decision to switch ASAP to IPB 3 from my owned vB (but also to the policy that is taking vB) ... so anyway I think that you were too hurried to release this new and splendid version of IPB 3 because it seems yet in BETA STAGE and not a true Final release...
users feedback and board admins (BIG AND SMALL BOARDS)they do understand.

This is the main reason why I haven't yet done my purchase, so definitely going to Invision Power Company as a preferred Board Company...

I am also sorry to say this because I was a fan of vB for many years, but I think many will make my own choice, then why when your prices are much more competitive.

Another very important factor about IPB and all IPS would be to not make the same mistakes of rivals trading, does not snob other languages as well, as other nations do you earn your money by buying your software, in order to be truly among the best we need an international team which coordinates the translation in as many languages as possible and include them as official.

    Thanks,
    Antonio

You have an excellent point to be honest. I wouldn't have looked at that suggestion twice if it was submitted through the ticket system, but there are obviously a lot of people who agree since it was posted here, so I'm forced to reconsider my stance. Even if I don't think it has any value, features are driven by customer demand.

I think that there will obviously be a 3.0.2 coming along quickly as well (like in August at this point), so I'm for a 3.0.1 coming out this week as well (like on Friday). That way we can test it out, report back any new bugs and so a lot of people can relax about the who search issue and such.

Your interpretation of what WallBase said is your own. I take it to mean that so far, he's had no problems with it so to him, it's working perfectly.

So how about calming down some, it was really unnecessary to call him ignorant.

Okay this would help solve some problems.

Have a setting in the ACP to use with this.

Basically, for the menu bar, if the number of installed apps exceeds a certain number, then the apps would be placed inside of a drop down menu. The drop down menu name would obviously be inside of the language files for compatibility. The number of apps to exceed would be in the system settings/forum section and possibly even allow the admin to choose if members/calendar would be on the menu bar or in the drop down menu. If the drop down menu is activated due to the number of apps, then all apps would be inside of it (except members/calendar, if the admin wants it on the menu bar).

I believe this would help a great deal for people who want to install a lot of apps, like the 3 paid add-ons, the 4 free ones (I count links towards the total) and then anything else that happens to add a link up there.

No it isn't, it's an unparallelled pain in the rear. The software's unencoded, so anyone who doesn't legitimately have a license would just remove the screen asking for the key anyway, and it'd just become to IPB what the CD key is to Windows - a pain in the butt for legitimate users and a 30 second hack for illegitimate users.

You can count that as disagreement.

Maybe they fixed the rep system so that 0 disables it for a member group? Just they haven't fixed the skins to reflect that yet and they haven't adjusted the member groups to allow us to give like 1440 reps per day..

Could it be made (in 3.0.2) to only ask twice if it won't be going to the trashcan? The second warning having a big unavoidable note saying that it cannot be undone, ie, not going into the trashcan.
