Let me know what you find out @Arcade King
The author says it works. That's not good enough? 😄
Works here on 8.0 or 7.4 on 4.7.

Generally, these issues are very specific, so I have moved this to your own topic. Could you please us know which site this is of yours and update your credentials on file?
No need. Solved right here:
Thanks @Jim M.

Please go to AdminCP > System > Support and apply the optional patch (if it's offered to you). You'll see a link to do this in the box on the top left of that page.
Thank you, and apologies. That's something I should check first. That seems to have fixed it.

This has now been resolved in a very efficient fashion.
Thank you to the Invision team.
What was the solution? I'm having the same issue (with PHP 8 or 7.4.33) after the 4.7 upgrade.
-
Please post the update as I'm seeing this on a site after the 4.7 upgrade. As this is from January I imagine there was an update of some kind.
-
Tracking this as my queue has not worked since I upgraded to 4.7 either. I have not deleted items in the database or anything like that, and my site has very few plugins or extensions.

A new version have been submitted that fixes this.
@iacas This will also include the improved country selector 🙂
Yay!

Brady,

Read the text, man. It says that admins don't need to be "protected." They do need to be added to the subscription (maybe not after the patch), though.

I saw it. It's right under the version number. It's not going to be in big bold red text or anything; just look for it.

A patch has now been release for this and is currently being pushed out. Please go to support in your admin CP to see this. If you do not see the update, wait a few minutes and check again
What changes does the patch make?
- Do admins still need to be added to the subscriptions? What about moderators that could previously see the forum? Previously registered accounts (i.e. the bad wording before)?
- Can users log out or do other things without being redirected to /subscriptions/ in a loop?
- What else?
I'm curious what settings/etc. I have to change again here to work around or with this update.
-
@Jim M, actually this is worse than I thought when I posted the above.
I have a site at evolvr.com and it has a subscription option which I turned on via the setting in the image below:
I've had to disable that feature because it's not doing what it says: "force a purchase when registering." I've had previously subscribed (and already registered members) who should have access to some things on the forum get stuck in the "reload loop" of just being force-fed the /subscriptions/ page even though I have some open areas of the site AND they've already registered, so they should be able to see the content they created when they had a subscription… they just can't create new content.
This feature which used to "work" as expected is now what I consider to be "broken." At the best it's mislabeled - and I'm of the opinion that previously registered users shouldn't need to see only /subscriptions/ when they're returning to the site, trying to log out, etc. Nor that admins should need to be added to "subscribers" to see their own site.

That should be easier to navigate.
Thanks. That looks much better.

This feels like a misguided change, and you're here to say "it's not a bug, it's a feature!" This hasn't ever worked this way, in years.
Admins should not be redirected to a /subscriptions/ page — they should be able to see the site at all times, as it's been in the past five+ years — and you shouldn't be preventing people from logging out of the site.

As for trying to help you out, @bradybarrows:
2 hours ago, bradybarrows said:I don't understand your instructions above. I don't see how to place the administrator or moderator groups using your description above.
By clicking the checkbox(es) here for the moderators groups (admins don't show up in there - they're always protected, per the text on the page there), they won't be moved out of the moderator groups, so their "mod" privileges will remain. As it says:
QuoteUsers in the groups selected here will not be moved out of their group even when purchasing a Subscription. For example, you might choose staff groups so that they do not lose their power. Administrator groups are always protected.
So, you can manually add people to the subscription (I had to manually add myself as an administrator to a subscription on my site), and if you want their group to be protected, you check off their group name there.

Have a look at the "Limits the location search to specific countries" setting. You can set this to United States. Believe this will solve this issue for you.
Could this be made easier to use? It's a lot of countries (251?) in an un-resizable 5-line scrolling text field.
I might like to select all countries from North America and Europe, and then a few select countries outside of that (New Zealand, Australia, and Japan for sure, South Africa probably, etc.).
It would help things tremendously where someone types something like "Southwestern Texas" and they get some city on the map in some random country in Asia or something. (Not a specific example.)

That said, is iAwards going to continue? It's a hell of a lot of work to keep manually building the awards to all the members after every Invision upgrade that breaks iAwards.
I'm not having to do any of that. I feel like an iAwards unicorn here or something, as it still "works" for me here.
Still, it would be nice if it was updated to be fully compatible and to show signs that it will continue to be developed.

Anyone else having this problem?
Did you ever log in to my site using the credentials I gave you?
I don't think many others have forums set up where only the creator of the topic and another group ("instructors" and admins) can see the topics. That's what seems to cause the threads created without names, and the DMs? Maybe people are trying to view their topic without being logged in.

Looks like a bug as guests shouldn't be able to create. Could you please send me a screenshot of your settings and will try and reproduce this locally.
I think I get a lot of guests triggering things. Normally a welcome DM has the user's name in it. This is on my other site, thesandtrap.com. Those are all messages to members who are guests.
So this seems to be "bad" behavior on both sites. It's just that on the one site, the AutoWelcome is set to create a topic, and on the other it's escaped notice longer because guests can create a post (it isn't shown unless they successfully register), but a topic isn't created for them.

Do we have timeline for this fix which iacas and others like me are facing?
I fixed it by running the script properly, without the "ipb_" precursor or whatever it was.
But it would have been nice to have the developer acknowledge that error on his part in the upgrade scripts and notice and then fix it.

Early September I think
How's this coming? It still seems to "work" but says it's unsupported, of course, when you click on it through the ACP.
-
Though this mod continues to work in 4.6, it does appear to be dead. Is there a replacement?

I was able to replicate the problem on another customer's site. I am working on a fix.
I meant thoughts on the "fix" above. I re-ran a line in your scripts without the "ipb_" prefix and the columns were added to the table, and now I don't get any errors in the task or by clicking on the "Rules" link in the iAwards portion of the ACP.
-
@InvisionHQ… thoughts?
-
-
Actually, in looking at the upgrade script error, it says:
ALTER TABLE `ipb_awards_rules` ADD COLUMN `rule_member_uploaded_photo` TINYINT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 , ADD COLUMN `rule_member_days_registered` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 , ADD COLUMN `rule_position` BIGINT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 ;
But the table on my database is called "awards_rules" not "ipb_awards_rules". So…
-
Seems like there should be a 'rule_position' column, right? And my DB doesn't have one.
Could you… provide the output from `describe awards_rules;` of what should be correct?
I see this in awards/data/schema.json:
"rule_position": { "allow_null": false, "auto_increment": false, "comment": "", "decimals": null, "default": "0", "length": 20, "name": "rule_position", "type": "BIGINT", "unsigned": true, "values": [] },
But, I might be missing some other columns?

I agree that an update would be appreciated, as it's been promised for quite some time… but I have 4.7.1 and it doesn't crash with the last release of iAwards installed.
I believe it does for you, but have you tested it by enabling and disabling only that application? Have you run the support tool or cleared out the caches? Are you using an older version of PHP or anything else?
