sobrenome reacted to Machsterdaemon in What is the point of activity stream?
Posts from the same topic in 'All Activity' stream is very unfriendly way of get updates in my experience. I don't use it, but this is the only way for guests to get updates The "unfriendly" 'All Activity' stream seems to be the only way for guests to get new posts updates Topic start date is missing from the activity stream Number of views is missing from the activity stream (it's nice to have)

There's very active sites that love it. Admittedly, some that don't as well. Perhaps you can outline specifics in terms of what you'd like to see or what would help the user experience and get the most from the AS. I know for some, the gut reaction is "give us the old way." Let's move past that for a moment and focus on the modern content discovery system that's in place now. What specifically makes it feel "clumsy?" When you reference pagination are you literally meaning you want to click page 6 (and if so, why?) or are you mostly wanting to maintain browser navigation, ie: click a topic, then click back to return to your place in the stream. In the case of the latter, we are working on just that and improving the overall flow of following through the stream. In the case of old-school pagination as in click page 6 -- we've tested different methods and all lead to significant performance overhead given how the stream works. My sense is, you don't really care about arbitrary page numbers, but instead want to maintain your place in the stream (correct me if I'm wrong and please do indicate why) -- in which case, we believe this will be doable.
I'm very anxious for further feedback on this, but let's please keep the focus on the AS -- we're nowhere near the point of considering a "VNC Throwback" feature at this juncture. Tell us what would make the AS perfect for you and what your top issues are, specifically.
Thanks as always.

sobrenome reacted to SenGuy in Advertisement Placement Improvement? A simple fix.
For the next update in the Advertisements Section, Would it be possible to add the forums that you would like the ads to be shown in? Some people might get sponsors for specific subforms...should be a simple add on. Default can be all forum, and then you can select which forums, like in the announcements dropdown.

sobrenome reacted to Clover13 in Please add a rotate pic option
I agree, it's the same behavior I see in 3.4.8.
They definitely should have an option to rotate pictures automatically, just as in Gallery. It's truly a pain for a site owner or user to have to inspect, download, rotate, and re-upload pictures.

Please, upgrade wiki database like described!

I agree with the OP even though you do have a point. Perhaps "urgent fix needed" may be technically the most accurate. While I can appreciate your workaround I can say that on active or visible sites the notion of editing away mass spam is an utter nightmare. You'll spend significant time needlessly deleting automated entries or those created by human drones. It's why I haven't implemented certain features as of yet.

Really need this. With an expansive database this could fill up with not only malicious info but erroneous info you do not approve of. We have editors for such approvals that will research the changes, this is really needed for a clean and professional database or records.

I agree to the feature request.
However, I would suggest that you stick to calm factual descriptions for such requests. IPS will judge the feature request by itself. It doesn’t need red, exclamation marks or exaggerations (i.e. “it’s useless”).
If it helps you as a work-around: On my 3.4 site I monitor Wiki article changes by having set up blocks which are ordered by last change. It’s much easier to spot changes this way.

sobrenome reacted to Batnik in Wiki-like-editing is useless at this moment
There is one setting now:
Moderate new records
But one VERY Important setting is missing:
Moderate records changes
Without this setting the whole system is useless as the user can post cool new posts and after they get approved they are posting porn stuff in it ... and i dont even get informed about post changes AT ALL!!! do i always have to get there and see if there is changed content ... every hour, every minute?
So why dont moderate post changes?
Here is a possible solution:
after the user changes the post inform moderator save a copy of this post: "set this post for moderation" from now on this user sees only this "edit-copy" of this post, all other users see the original post let the user edit this copy so many times he wants to after every submit, the post is sent for submiting (if revisions are enabled only this revision) no need to hide or delete the original post unit changes are confirmed as its different postID if revisions are enabled => use it insead of postID or always use revisions when wiki-editing is enabled after the moderator confirmed the changes ovverride the orginal post with the new version delete the copy or save a revision inform user => post approved This system right now makes absolutely no sense without changes-moderation. So please make some changes or disable it completly.
What you think?

What is the URL? What version of IPS are you on?
I just tested on Android and it seems to work for me.

Verified with half a dozen of my members on various devices. They get sideways pictures on photos that appear normal on their devices and even on their computer.

sobrenome reacted to chilihead in Please add a rotate pic option
See my link in post #2. Many sites recognize orientation tags like FB and photo upload sites that's why users say elsewhere it is fine. If IPS adds this ability, problem solved.
Rotate and crop functions would be nice as well.

sobrenome reacted to Clover13 in Please add a rotate pic option
This is a big problem on my site, I have to constantly fix sideways pictures for my members. Pic sharing is a big part of my site, and this is a big PITA for me as an admin

sobrenome reacted to chilihead in Please add a rotate pic option
iPhone etc. users get frustrated when they pay for the upload permission and everything is sideways. They tell me they are going back to Photobucket. Ugh.

Agreed, and/or recognize orientation tags of images.

sobrenome reacted to Square Wheels in Please add a rotate pic option
It seems most pics get uploaded sideways, regardless of how they were take. This is really frustrating for the users, and kind of surprising there are so few pic options and IPS sells a Gallery add on, which i have for both of my site.
Please add a rotate pic option.

The file should be writable in all IPS4 installations, this is unrelated to this app.
This suggests that the IPS4 upgrader didn't create the columns, the support tool should fix this.
Sorry, I didn't realise the link had been mangled, for future reference it's Mandrill Bouncer Support

sobrenome reacted to stoo2000 in Mail Bouncer - Automated Bounce Management
I would expect it to work fine. The biggest changes are to the menu and content items, both of which this app doesn't use.

Yes
It's the Marketplace file that this topic is for (links in the first post).
Yes!

Is it stable already for IPS 4?
-
sobrenome reacted to stoo2000 in Mail Bouncer - Automated Bounce Management
Sorry for the delay, I've been away a lot over the last few weeks.
I'm currently in the final stages of testing. There's only one big change left for me to make, which is to move the upgrade logic out into a background task. There's a small 'issue' in current versions of IPS4 that will make the upgrade process look like it is frozen (when rebuilding large amounts of data), It's better to work around this than for people to stop the upgrade halfway believing that it is broken.

Thanks for testing the accents.
Some more small performance tweaks. Also, if you use memcached and full page caching there was a bug for guests that would cache visibility server-side rather than just using the CSS.

I have tested for accents, it's working fine in the current release.
