Anyone around shoot me a PM to test the fix. I'd like to make sure before updating the Marketplace file.
Also, this is @Flitterkill, I'm transitioning everything away from that gaming community account to an account dedicated to IPS work.

IPB 4.1.18.2: Causes the custom items in Profile Information not to display on new entries. Users before updating to 4.1.18.2 will display correctly in Profile Information. New users Profile Information entered in does not show for accounts created after updating to 4.1.18.2

Hopefully there will be a global option for those that want something static across all apps. 

I can add this as a new setting in a couple of days. I'll probably will add a setting to allow it per app.

@Adriano Faria Thank you so much for bringing this plugin to IPS 4.1.x. We had a similar plugin on 3.4.x and we really needed it.
Question: is there a way to configure an optional message right above the "Similar topics" box? So we could enter something like "Before creating a new topic, please see if your problem isn't already discussed in one of the topics below. Thank you!"

It's about time something like this was made available. It's one of those options that you would think would be included with the core.
I don't buy may plugins/Apps but this will be one of those have to have ones.

That's just not an acceptable answer for those of us that were early adopters of IPB 4. You actually want us to loose months of user data. This should have been taken care of when IPB moved from utf8_unicode_ci to utf8mb4_unicode_ci . We trust IPS to do what is right to keep their clients up to date with the latest releases. If the latest releases IPB has had a default character set change there should be a way for IPS's paid clients to benefit from that change, and advancing along with everyone else on the same playing field.
It seems to me that IPS should jump ahead of this and create a conversion script for its clients. This not only fixes future problems, but will also lessen support tickets.
Or better yet can we create a ticket for this. The majority of independent IPS clients are comfortable with running MySQL scripts.

@Batnik You get one shot at the setting up the database. Your only option is restart.
@chilihead The emojis problem came after 4.x was released so there nothing IPS could do for existing IPB clients that had already converted to IPB 4.x. If this is a paid for program you need request your money back. The description of the file should have clearly stated that it would only work with the UTF8MB4 character set. If the seller gives you a hard time then go to IPS, and they will be more than fair. However if you purchased it outside of the Marketplace than you at the mercy of the seller.
Invision Power Systems did a lousy job all the way around on informing their client base on the issue of when to setup UTF8MB4.

In the config don't you have to set:
$INFO['sql_charset']   = '****';
to:
$INFO['sql_charset']   = 'utf8mb4';
Did your 3.x automatically migrate the tables to character set UTF8MB4

Yes, it is working as designed by IPS.
Certain criteria that must be matched in order to move to the newer character set (UTF8MB4). Not everyone will be migrated and it's based MySQL version.
The current IPB converter will not convert to UTF8MB4 if you are already on IPB4. If you are moving from IPB3 to IPB4 it will migrate, but I believe you must set the config to UTF8MB4 prior to the upgrade (?).

We all need to be looking to the future and possible problems that not converting will eventually cause.

I requested this a long time ago. Seems like a good idea to me.
Also, how about nag of some sort for users that were already added prior to Maps being setup. The nag would have a button to actually add their present IP location. Once the nag has been responded to and the user added, the nag would never appear again.

I saw this during my investigation online. I manually preformed the conversion, but got a index length error of some kind. I possibly faild to create the database correctly?

How about pulling all the tables in phpmyadmin, and working from that .sql file?
Create a new databse, and then import the modified .sql back into the new database?

Is it possible to have the thread restarted so support can start fresh with IPB 4.x and not include support for 3.x. Possibly a new version should have its own new file download which would start the support thread from scratch.
It appears that the basic usage is pretty much as 3.x. Is it possible to request custom programming to include specific options?
1) I'd like to be able to add an option at the new user application that would display Location; and either allow them to manually add their location or add it automatically by detecting GPS and display that in the location field in the new user registration. Admin sets the choice.
2) I'd like to be able to select a nag screen for those existing users that have not set their location. Alternately possibly automatically setting the location in place of the nag screen.

You should have backed up your live 4.1.7 install including the tables. You will need to rollback that way. Don't install a later version or serious problems will occur. If you don't have a backup to rollback to, contact IPS and they will most likely be able to get you going again.

Have you done this?
 
The error will insist if you don't do this to update the categories.
