5.0.6 is on it's way to the land of cloud and deployment.

Happy Astral Projection GIF by Trippyogi

We've got a freshly baked beta here for you today. There are loads of fixes, and new extensions. The full list is with our release notes.

Key things include:

  • More clunky javascript removal, more beautiful CSS used for transitions

  • More slow javascript removed, more beautiful native Javascript used (fixes lots of minor things, including slow tag selection)

  • More editor fixes

  • More Javascript and CSS removed to address layout shifts and reflows for that beautiful Pagespeed.

  • Bumper extensions and listeners for developers to use including: MFA Handlers, share services, userMenu additions, loads more listener types (polls, courses, files, etc), more extensions methods for tables and clubs.

  • No tariffs

Phew.

As always, this is a beta release and with a fair amount of javascript changed and removed, you may come across the odd thing so please let us know if you do.

When you read the release notes and see a number of things that you’ve been waiting to be fixed on there.

Is it giving me an error for permissions on the upgrade sitemap file? Any ideas?

Ignore the above, I just uploaded a fresh file from client area and all sorted. It must be where I edited it for the fix before.

All good for us. Thanks for the taggggg !!!

I upgraded my board to the new beta, I keep getting an error message when I try to add back the topic feeds on my forums, also getting intermittent 500 errors when I refresh the page.

What error message(s) are you getting? It would help if you posted the exact error messages. Regarding the 500 errors, they are almost always host/server related.

One a side note, imo it's always best to wait until a version becomes stable and then upgrade to it rather than upgrading to a beta version as betas are likely to have bugs and throw errors.

This has been responded to on your post in the bug tracker. Please post your error messages there, and we can then see what the issues are

I just updated to beta 2, and here's some feedback:

Some widgets no longer work on the home page, and I can't drag and drop them.

When I browse my website, I encounter a lot of random 500 errors.

If you can make sure ACP/FTP is up to date in your client area, I can take a look.

Your browser console might hold some information too, so it's worth looking there.

I have updated my FTP information

Upgraded both sites without issue! The one site asked for my license key again, but a quick copy and paste from the client area did the trick. That was a first.
Now it's time to get ready for the next update.

What I notice in 5.06 version:

- yes, significant performance improvement.

- removal of font preload - congratulations.

What is still missing - there is still a strange render delay LCP with a time of over - 4-5 seconds.

However, after I applied my CSS pump( created for 5.0.5) in version 5.06 - and the result surprised me - 5 points better than 5.0.5

Apparently, the direction of improvements is excellent. Congratulations to the development team.

#4400: Allow custom emoticons to display in their natural dimensions

😭 Not for me. Clearing cache in system and putting Cloudflare in development mode did not help.

I had my own css. 🤦

Beta 3 Released!

CleanShot 2025-04-11 at 09.55.39@2x.png

Some of the eagle eyed among you, and also those with the correct prescriptive lenses would have noticed a secret message appear on your editor in Beta 2. To be clear, this was not a subliminal message to tank the stock market, that's been handled elsewhere. This was just a test plugin that snuck into the release.

Beta 3 just removes that test plugin to un-confuse you and your members. You will have to manually delete applications/core/data/editor.xml from your install after upgrading.
