We have some Forums that are private, over the years members who had access have followed these Forums but now no longer have this access.  As they are still listed as following, it has raised concerns that they could still be receiving email notifications but a test I carried out on one of these private Forums confirmed that they do not.  I have assumed the same is true for any Topics they may have followed too.

Is there a way of removing members from any Forums/Topics they are following but no longer have access?

You can only remove all followers from an item. However,  there are 3rd party items such as that pointed out above
