Posted June 16, 201510 yr I've been trying to bring this to IPS staff's attention for months with no success but I'll keep trying because this is important...Please make an option to disable automatic embedding of topics. I was told in a support ticket that the embed does not try to load the entire topic, but I refuse to believe this is true because the time it takes for it to load grows proportionally with the amount of responses a topic has. If a 1-page topic is embedded, it loads instantly, but if it's a 1000-page topic, the circle can be spinning for like half a minute. This is bad for site performance. Not to mention that those embeds are just ugly and unnecessary. Edited June 16, 201510 yr by Kirill N
June 16, 201510 yr I was told in a support ticket that the embed does not try to load the entire topic,Let's test it then - please pick a topic, any topic, and paste the link and allow it to embed (I'll let you choose). Then it can be checked quite easily in the DOM (I'll let me do that, if you don't want to)

June 16, 201510 yr I don't like them when there is only the odd one in a post - I just don't think the look is nice or provides any value, and it looks really bad when you are adding links to a number of topics (some of my users maintain posts with links to useful topics).
June 16, 201510 yr Why didn't it embed? Let's try again And here is the result: The displayed embedded content is in an iframe. The URL to the content is http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/416215-408/?do=embed&embedDo=getNewComment Feel free to click that to see what exactly is loaded in the embedded content.
