Social media sites have drummed into me that such red bubbles mean, there are some I M P O R T A N T new messages or notifications I should quickly deal with, and when I do, the bubble goes away. 

But this chat bubble is there all the time. Even when there isn’t even someone in the chat, it seeks my attention with that “alarming” red color to scream at me “NO ONE IN THE CHAT ROOM” all the time. 

So, wouldn’t a less alarming color be more appropriate, @Rikki?

I would rather see the bubble not raised because its a notification call out that way.  I would prefer Chat (6)

​I am not saying use text. I am trying to say move the bubble down. I didn't feel like whipping out photoshop just for this.

Can you change it in CSS? It is also red in 3.4, and never bothered me, but I have a red theme so...

​Just to be clear: my suggestions refers to this site and in turn the default theme. I am not looking for a solution for my own sites.
