IP.Chat Service Testing

This thing is really nice so far, even as a beta.

Some feedback:

Features:

timestamps
New chat activity indicator in the browser tab title. As an example, currently it just says "IP.Chat" but if someone said something while you had another tab in focus, change it to "IP.Chat@Username" for the last person that responded.
Usergroup name coloring
links & user profiles opening up in a new window instead of the chat window. Could even do a tiny little menu when you click a link "open in new window" and "open in new tab" so picky people can continue to be picky
Usergroup based access to chat channels
Something to the effect of "/roll 2d20" to roll dice or "/random 100" to get a number from the server
Interface:
&

formatting
Choose if the userlist is on the right or left
Highlighting/underlining of your display name if it appears in chat from someone else
Somewhere make a button to add a user as a friend
System message when someone in the chat makes a new thread on the forums, and make it a link "system>> username posted a new thread titled "Whatever it is""

Character limit counter for each message that updates as you type
Move the leave chat/exit button to be above the user list in the blue bar where the IP.Chat title is, sort of positioned like the close application 'x' in a program window.
Slim the text input box to a single line
Also, I'm all for an option to host the chat service yourself. Shared hosts don't like things like this, but lots of people run on VPS setups now which offer a bit more in terms of available resources.

LOL! That's one word I fear the most since I work in IT and every time we need to buy "turn-key" or "enterprise" the prices are usually waaay over priced.

I did not have any special meaning with the use of the word "enterprise". I only said that to distinguish between the package we intend to offer, and any sort of self-hosted package in the future (which I assume, at this point, would be a "bigger" or "more inclusive" package by nature of the request).

One huge advantage of hosting the chat by IPS is that pirated borads won't be able to use the chat.

this is only a ipb vantage. I personally own 4 dedicated server, and i want to host the chat on my server (the pages here at ipb are really slow to load, sometime we found a load average of 9 on the board! plus i'm in italy and the ping is bad...)

Just to throw this out there, we use a java front end(IM) iRC-Chat and a paid IRC virtual server that costs me only $4 a month with 200 user limit. I also have Mibbit thrown in there now with their own 4$ a month plan which runs with AJAX and connects to my hosted IRC.

I have a single suggestion, simply because everything else already seems to be so good.

When a chatroom user is typing, show it next to or beneath their name in the sidebar. (Can be turned off by Admin.) It may be a little resource intensive but it really helps when a user is waiting for a reply to know if the other user has already started.

Could you include a sorta like iFrame thing in some version? Like lets say you have an application and you only want your members in the application to see the chat, by simply signing into their account from your app and using it so that they can somewhat be active in a part of your site while still being in themselves, productive. I had a way better explanation but while trying to right click the 4th page with my trackpad I accidentally clicked and lost my post :(

suggested earlier - but would be great - many people prefer to keep a chat window open whilst doing other things.
