Rikki Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Whats the new "My Controls" going to be like? My Controls has undergone one of the biggest changes of all - it's been simplified and the messenger has been removed, for starters :)
Malefickus Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Aww, I saw Rikki posted and thought it was a skin preview :(
YounGMessiah Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 My Controls has undergone one of the biggest changes of all - it's been simplified and the messenger has been removed, for starters :) Interesting, is there gonna be more Ajax features within this area?
Rikki Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Interesting, is there gonna be more Ajax features within this area? I can't think of any uses for it to be honest. We only add ajax where it adds value to a feature :)
Keven Fox Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I'd like to reiterate that I'd be willing to beta/alpha test it and as many of you know I'm on the computer quite frequently. Also for testers there could be a hidden forum just for bug reports so the public doesn't see on your tracker, although you probably already thought of that and have it right? :)
ByteAir Chhansen Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 My Controls has undergone one of the biggest changes of all - it's been simplified and the messenger has been removed, for starters :) Awesome, can't wait :D I'd like to reiterate that I'd be willing to beta/alpha test it and as many of you know I'm on the computer quite frequently. Guest Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 If the past is any indicator, they'll select a group of private beta testers (I'm assuming from the IPS Resources group), then it'll move into a public beta (customers only, obviously), and then the release candidate stage, and so on. It's how it's been done before, and I don't see any reason why they'd change it.

Well I am a perpetual customer so I already get the files perpetually, so why not pre-beta selected. That's what I meant, selected testers.
IBTheme Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I can't believe I actually hit the IPS forums first thing every morning when I wake up just to see if there's any news on a preview or beta out for testing yet. I have GOT to get out more! After I'm caught up on all my custom work and filling orders today, I plan to start making the new skin layout design drafts for 3.0 just to help hold my patience for a while longer. Now watch, I'm gonna make these layout designs (drafts) and then they'll change the whole thing completely to the point of no recognition. LOL
TestingSomething Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Yeah I come here hoping for new news also. Although now I am just ready to use it since they have listed most features apparently (they said from now on the news will be more boring). As far as My Controls, people also always complained to me that it was confusing too. And to me myself it was confusing in the beginning because it is too disorganized. I just wish there would be a few areas of settings and evry obvious which area to go to when you want to change a certain thing. heck maybe even throw in some search feature which would go to any settings with your search word in the description. That may be going to an extreme, but anyway.
Sparkal Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I can't wait to see what 3.0 looks like, but I will wait patiently til it is stable. I'm eager to see what the skinning system looks like. Oh the joy of having to convert all my skins to the new system once ready. :)
Black Prowler Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 i saw the thread was started by bfarber so thought he was probably asking when ipb 3.0 will be out :P. me too!!! :P  Before clicking the link, I thought 'how funny would that be if he was asking that question?'
Guest Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Just curious (also too lazy to search), are you still accepting new feature requests into 3.0, or is there just a set of features you're going to implement before release?
Stallyon Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I'd like to request a dishwashing feature, where you leave your dirty dishes beside your screen, and IPB 3.0 does the work for you.
Amy T Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 some day we may have computers that clean the dishes for us but maybe a dishwasher is just as good.

W13 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 some day we may have computers that clean the dishes for us but maybe a dishwasher is just as good. My Engineering thesis was about the inefficiency and uselessness of automatic dishwashers. So I think VB will be washing dishes before IPB does.
Amy T Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Nah vb will fail in a few years. Well we can only hope hehe.
Philiwily Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Nah vb will fail in a few years. Well we can only hope hehe. Why? Competition is good. It keeps the companies on their toes. It forces them to keep up with each other, thus making the end product better for us.
