Integration with IRC
by Guest Im4eversmart- 6 replies

Hello. My site uses IPB and we also use IRC. We were wondering if you could make a chat that would integrate the two together, making IRC use the forum database to get the access levels for users in the IRC channel, like Sigma Chat does.

"NEW" PMs
by Guest Logan- 5 replies
- 2.7k views
When you receive a new PM, you get a popup. If you don't view it, but instead go elsewhere on the board other than that PM, it'll show "1 New Messages" at the top of the board until you go into your pm center. BUT, you don't have to actually read the PM for it to not show as new on the member bar. Click the link "1 new messages", just view your pm list, then go back to the board, the count will return to 0, if you go back to the pm list you'll see it's still unread (has an unread icon), but it doesn't show in the member bar that there is 1 new message. This really needs to be fixed (yes, I consider it a bug but am placing it here as it is more of a feature suggestion)…

Get profile information from ext auth source
by Guest soft.register- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
When using an ext auth module in a corporate environment, or similar organisation where an authoritative master data source exists that holds staff/user records, the IPB board should have an option to get profile information at member registration from the corporate LDAP/AD datasource. Authoritative datasources exist in organisations to reduce the need for data duplication, and eliminate sources for error. It would be a desirable addition when using IPB in organisations that use LDAP/AD datasources to lookup this information and insert it into the IPB database. Profile options would need to added for internal and any additional profile fields added, to query the ext …

Code in registration.
by Guest Jak Easter- 1 reply
- 2.2k views
Well, I was thinking and I saw a website with this. To force people who want to register on your board to read the rules, I think you should be able to put a code in it randomly so they don't see it at first glance, and once you click 'I agree' it asks for the password/code. Maybe like this: Please and thanks, Jak Easter

Rating system improvement
by Guest Logan- 4 replies
- 3.1k views
The rating system is missing quite a few features. It should show the # of votes a topic has, and it should show what you rated it. Even if you have permission to change your rating, it should still show the rating that you currently have rated it. This information should be all in the topic somewhere beside the rating options.

Editing/removing polls
by Guest eyedam- 2 replies
- 2.3k views
I would like to suggest to let mods to edit polls too not only administrators as it is now. Not the ability to change poll results, but edit/correct poll questions and answers or at least remove a poll (keeping the post itself). Thanks!

I think that on 2.2 you should add user groups/teams into the forum, so people can make groups on the forum without people needing to contact the administrator

Wrong behaviour on validating IPB
by Guest Gianfire- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
A few users are having trouble in this situation: they write a wrong email address during subscription, so they don't receive the validation email; they access their control panel to change the email address to the correct one but, after completing the procedure, they receive this error Sorry, you are already pending validation. Please revalidate your account before attempting this. So they can't do anything. A user in validation must have the possibility to change his own email address, otherwise what can he do?

Applying multi mod marks topic unread, should be read
by Guest Logan- 2 replies
- 2.2k views
When applying a multi-mod to a topic which adds a reply (from the topic view anyway, not sure about forum view should be the same) the topic is marked as unread. It should not be marked as unread, but instead marked as read, because you already know what the response is, it's the preset multi-mod post, so no it's not really new and shouldn't be unread. Yes this could be corrected by being redirected to the multi-mod post like if you are making a post, but I like it better how it is now just the topic shouldn't be marked as unread if the multi-mod adds a response to the topic.

Change password & email from UserCP
by Guest soft.register- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
When using external authentication modules, and one uses an external url for password maintenance, clicking change email or change password both take the user out to the external url for authentication maintenance. For corporate installations of IPS that would use an external auth module, one can certainly say that password maintenance will be external, but this is not necessarily true for email address. Note that this is consistent with any new user chosing an email address for use on the forum - there is no necessity for it to be the corporate email address for the user (and it would only be a 1:1 relationship IF the LDAP or external module actually got the users em…

Registration fix required with external modules
by Guest soft.register- 0 replies
- 1.7k views
Have been investigating external authentication modules {specifically LDAP}. While they largely work as expected, there are a couple of "unexpected features" when using it. {I'll just log the first one for now} If you choose to automatically enter new users who authenticate {but are not yet in the IPS database - an option in the login manager modules} the IPB takes you to a new screen which just asks for display name and email address. Unfortunately this is bypassing the registration page where the admins post the conditions that all new users must agree to when joining the forum. For reasons which could possibly include legal ones, this is not satisfactory. It also s…

Admin Link to send login information
by Guest strokenetwork- 3 replies

Could Invision create a link in the ACP where if you knew the members e-mail address you would just have to click on a link to send them an e-mail with their username and password? It is a pain in the butt when the members know neither login information

Addition of Users Skype info to Members Profile
by Guest yorkiemal- 5 replies
is it at all possible to add Skype to a members profile in the "Communicate" section so that those member that use Skype can add there info, like you can now with MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and AOL. Users seem to me hooked on this new way of communicating via the web and I feel it would be a good addition to IPB if a Skype Icon could be added and a new line added to the profile form for members to add there details for Skype so that it will appear on there profile(s)

From time to time, rules and registration agreements change. A feature that would require a user to press the accept button for the agreement would be useful. I'm aware that most people don't read the things, but if you force everyone to select it, they will not have the excuse that they weren't aware of the change. A failure mode for this would be useful as well. For the members that do not agree, move them to a different user group so that admins can decide their fate.

Detailed statuses
by Guest Logan- 3 replies
- 2.4k views
I'd really like more detail in the online list and user's profiles. - Which member's profile somebody is viewing. - Making a new post tells which topic they are posting in, as well as the forum. - Making a new topic says they are actually making a new topic. - Making a new poll says they are actually making a new poll. - Printing a topic tells which topic they are printing. - Reporting a post - Reading the guidelines - If a mod/admin is warning a user say that, but not the member. etc... Yes there is a mod for 2.0 which does this but I think it'd be a really good default feature. Well, not really a feature moreless an "improvement".

Content Caching in forums.
by Guest qweasdzxc- 1 reply

I want IPB to post an ETag header and a corrent last-modified header in IPB. I guess the last-modified header should be the latest of the last post shown at the current page and the last edited posts edit time shown at the current page... Can this be implemented to the 2.x code tree?

Two ideas/three
by Guest Dlf- 15 replies

[*]Ability to manage topic multi moderation [TMM] better - My suggestion is say someone adds alot of TMM to there forum [like 50] they [if they are admin] can arrange them into catgories/something of TMM. So [example sorry if this is bad]: CLOSED Closed by request Closed because of Violation of rules Closed because {reason} (besides the two above) Moved by request Moved becasue of violation Moving to correct forum Moved/Moving becase of (reason) So if this was added instead of having all those above + more clutered into the TMM screen the admin can arrange them. The way that arrange them in the screen (by catgory) would also show for the TMM box in a topic or forum…

Include "voting", "registering" and "validati
by Guest Exiled- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
The ACP IP Tools clearly has access to the IP data on registration and other logged member IPs when you search by IP or IP range (wildcard), but when you search by member name , you only see the IPs posted from. I would like it to return a more complete record of the member's IP use. I think it used to do that, and others have confirmed this impression, but that's not the behavior in 2.1.5 (plus all patches) I rarely need an incomplete report. I usually want all available IP info.

Log "Validating from" IP
by Guest Exiled- 0 replies
- 3.6k views
The ACP IP Tools search function returns four categories of IPs: Registering, Validating, Posting, and Voting. I recently learned that the Validating doesn't mean what I (and presumably others) think it means. It is essentially identical to the Registering, but transient and deleted when validation is completed. (Admins testing this on their own boards should know that Registering displays the display name, while Validating displays the screen name, obscuring the identical entries. this is already slated to be fixed) While I'm still a little shaky one how ibf_validating is used, I hope it wouldn't be too difficult to permanently record the IP that accesses the validat…

List with forbidden usernames
by Guest enlighter- 2 replies

It would be good to have a managable list with forbidden usernames. I guess no forum administrator wants to have users with usernames like admin, administrator, forum, etc. It's not something important, but would be useful. :)

Caching Needed for Windows where text is being entered
by Guest balletbooster- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
When a user creates a post and presses the Submit button and then for whatever reason the software receives an error, the entire post is lost. There is no way for the user to retrieve the post to resubmit it. Refreshing the screen takes you back to a blank Post Reply window, as does using the Back button. Same is true when a user creates a PM and the receiver's Inbox is full. The PM is lost and the user has no way to retrieve it to store until the receiver has cleaned their mailbox. Windows need to be cached so that you can use the Back button to get back to the window, exactly as it was displayed immediately before the error.

Advanced Edit By Line Feature For Moderators
by Guest electriic ink- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
Often when I'm moderating and editing posts, I constantly find myself checking the edit by line box to remove content from others' posts and unchecking it to edit my own. What I would like is an option in the moderators part of the usercp like this: Edit By Line Options [Yes/No] Show edit-by line when editing other people's posts? [Yes/No] Show edit-by line when editing your own posts? [ SAVE CHANGES ]
