Im4eversmart Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Hello. My site uses IPB and we also use IRC. We were wondering if you could make a chat that would integrate the two together, making IRC use the forum database to get the access levels for users in the IRC channel, like Sigma Chat does.
Antony Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 There are mods to do this. Perhaps IPS should write a component...

Rοb Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 The only way you can do this (securely) is to have the irc server use the ipb database itself. This of course would need a modification server-side, not on the forum. The only thing required in your forum files would be some kind of secure authentication method for data sent to it via irc. My site uses a "passport" system to achieve the above (similar to msn chat/.net passports), however i am sure there are easier and less complex ways.

Could you explain it in more detail and, if it sounds good, do you think you might be able to help me set it up?
