Quick Edit button revamp? 1 2

As it is, when you hit the edit button, you are presented with two options: "Quick Edit" and "Full Edit." The AJAX powered quick edit is very useful, but I, as someone who also posts on some vBulletin forums, have found that having to click on Quick Edit before actually being able to edit can be rather annoying. Before 2.1, clicking on Edit immediately brought us to an edit screen. It wasn't as quick as with AJAX, but there weren't a massive number of clicks involved. So, my proposal is to remove the option dropdown from the Edit button. Make it automatically open the AJAX editor, and then have a button (next to "Complete Edit" and "Cancel Edit") which allows users to ju…

Okay, say I have 1 Perpetual and 1 Yearly license. Since 1 is perpetual you have access to future builds and updates, so you'd be able to update the yearly as well. I mean morally maybe not, but I would think it wouldn't be that big a deal?

Some hosts require users to insert adverts in every page, occasionally at both top and bottom of the forum page. SMF 1.1 has a mod to do this, will this feature be built into 2.2? Second, has anyone tested 2.2's ability to cope with mandatory ads inserted by a web host, over which the user has no control as this seems to break most message boards of the php type. WHen you go to the user profile and try and fix the birthday etc from the list box and the mouse moves over the other list boxes there menu or choices overlays the previous one

Just a thought since I finally got around to playing with themes. In previous version of IPB, to call the language variables we just used {ipb.lang['variable']} in the HTML editor. Now it seems as if we have to use $this->ipsclass->lang['variable']. Personally I don't see a need as to why we should have to use the full PHP code to call a language variable in the HTML editor. Couldn't you just set it back to the simpler ipb.lang['variable'] which is much shorter and simpler to remember than having to use the entire PHP statement. Or do you have some sort of plan for an update for the editor that would warrant the need for a more complex call to the variables (ie…

I really like the new prefix/suffix of the group poster. But I think it'd be really nice if you could click it to see everyone in that group... Also with the editor, in the Beta before the one that was released to the public I was able to click the smileys, and I loved how when you hovered over one it highlighted the selection. But now I'm unable to insert a smiley through the left bar. This is with IE6 and Firefox. What's the code to access the admin skin stuff?

In IPB 2.1, you could access Admin skin elements with code such as this: <img src='{$this->ipsclass->skin_url}/images/aff_tick.png' border='0' /> $this->ipsclass->skin_url doesn't appear to work anymore, it's apparently been replaced with something else. Since the source code is encrypted, any chance an IPS staffer could reveal just what this got changed to? (w00t)

Hello All, Well, I was expecting more from the update, although at the end of the date, its not supposed to be a feature released update. My problems/concerns 1. Captcha - Its still highly weak IMHO, putting the graphic behind it doesnt really help. I was expecting more of a twisting letters like the google one. Its not hard to do and do safely. 2. Lack of Acronym manager - Now I thought this would have been included, especially as you have some very public customers whom I sure this would have been a handy feature. I was a bit disappointed that after upgrading to 2.1 from 2.0 that the red pm window had been done away with and the "My assistant" window popped up. The old red window was much more elegant and nicer to work with. Can we have the option of having it back in 2.2 please? The new method seems a backwards step to me. Thank heavens that a mod has been wriiten that gives us this functionality back here. Thank you. 3DKiwi

When I looked at my friends test forum heres what I found.. Admin Tab (Main screen with IPB Update area... The information bar is missing, the one with the Title and descriptions underneath. Components Tab The tab brings up the main page of IPB in a framed window yet the info bar says even if you click on a different title like Company..; "Invision Gallery Manager You can set up and manage your gallery in this section." For some reason on my server 2.1.6 is very fast but this new 2.2 is noticably slower. Could this be because of the encoding? 2 things I dont like about this new version.... 1. The quick access stuff and how the emotes are in a smaller box now. 2. The new RTE setup...I dont like this because the quick access items are not in it anymroe.

Restrict BBCode and auto link generation

Right now spammers can log on my forums and spam their crap using bbcode or plain http links. I can restrict who can use HTML by not only forum but also group. Why can't I control bbcode and http linking the same way? This way admins can setup new member groups with no (or possibly limited) bbcode and linking privaleges. New users have to post however many posts we decide until they get moved to the full membership group. Most spammers just post the one spam post and move on, if the boards automatically rejected their BBCode posts and gave error messages saying new users aren't allowed to post links to other sites it would make spamming pretty much pointless on that boar…

ACP feature search should show where the feature is

I think it is wonderful that you can search the ACP features looking for a particular settings. However, I'd like to see this expanded slightly. Right now a search only shows the settings that match your search, but they don't tell you where that feature can be found (if you want to go to it directly later). I would like to see the search show the matching settings and allow you to click to see where the setting is located in the ACP. This would make it easier for new admins to learn the ACP and cut down on the number of searches needed to find features.

With the new username dropdown, getting to a user's profile is no longer the quick ability it used to be. This can easily be solved by making the avatar - which is currently not a link - link to a user's profile :).

Show signature in profile?

You used to be able to see members' signatures in their profiles. As far as I can tell, you no longer can. Is it possible to have this changed somehow? It's nice to see signatures when you search the member list for someone, but what I find more important is that I can no longer view my own signature by clicking on my name next to the "log out" option.
