IPS Support
by Guest Dave L- 14 replies

Hi, I had previously posted about my experience with IPS Support and how good I found it. Seems many of you agree. I have had reason for submitting a ticket again. After reading a few posts on problems various people had with installing the latest 2.2.2 update I thought I would ask IPS Support to do it for me. Given the release is recent I thought I would be waiting a while. I put the ticket in on Saturday along with all my server/log in details etc. Sunday morning I was surprised to see a reply to my ticket explaining that any mods etc. I may have made could be lost, did I want to continue. Yes please I replied. That was quick. I went out for a couple of hours and when…

Just curious if there is any modification available for IPB similar to GARS for Vbulletin. Also, can someone direct me to the main modifications site for IPB (ie: like vbulletin.org for VB). Thanks very much.

3.0 Suggestions

Idea #1 I would like to see a welcome email being sent out to all users who have successfully registered (contents of the email being defined via the ACP). The same email would of course need to be sent out to members manually validated via the board admin(s) if admin/email validation is switched on. I feel this would be a good addition to the IPB software as officially being welcomed to a website/forum would look very professional to a new member or potential client. Another reason (probably the main reason) is that such a feature could be very handy for board admins who use admin/email validation and/or manually activate accounts because the email could be used for …

IPS Server time
by Guest Cybertimber2009- 4 replies
- 3.2k views
I would report in the Bug Tracker... but there is no IPS Company Forums area. The server time here is appx. 5 hours off. Also, it seems to be slowing down, because queries can't be done in negative time. -0.6243 sec -- 7 queries GZIP Enabled Time is now: 14th December 2006 - 12:50 PM A forum I visit frequently saw a issue with the motherboard's clock functions and it grew out of hand, and the server went boom. Hopefully its not the same issue. Again, but with screenshot :)

Disable signatures for certain groups
by Guest `Scotty`- 3 replies

In the Manager User Groups you should be able to deceide which group can use a signature or avatar it would be handy if you wanted your boards to load faster. Also this would be useful to me because I am a Game Admin. and use IPB and I don't want some member groups to have signatures.

Not sure if its me but i never really use the next newest link in threads usually but found myself using here on the ipb forum but then realised its horribly flawed or its me, but the link doesn't actually take you to the next newest POST it just takes you to the top of the thread? why? and can be fixed cus at the moment its misleading and annoying.

make admin work easier
by Guest anyweb- 13 replies

hi guys i frequently have to ban spammers from my forums, and it's getting to be a chore as what I like to do is ban the user ban their IP address ban the unique email address and that requires a minimum of 3 actions to do so, and copying/pasting back and forth between the admin section and the 'manage ban filters' section usually requiring two ipb admin windows open to do effectively. my suggestion would be in the admin section where we normally have the drop down option to 'edit members profile' to have an additional drop down called 'instant ban' which effectively bans the user their ip address their email address can this be implemented please and if not why not…

Client Area Missing Images

https://www.invisionpower.com/customer/inde...;section=survey You still still have not fixed this, not important but you might want to try and fix it someday. Also the footer is off, in Firefox, I don't know about IE. You should look at the CSS Attributes for the code below, and make sure the image is displaying properly. Menu <div id='menu'> <ul> <li><a href='https://www.invisionpower.com/customer/index.php?'>Client Center Home</a></li><li><a href='https://www.invisionpower.com/customer/index.php?&module=clientarea§ion=kb'>Knowledge Base</a></li><li><a href='https://w…

Automatic Mod installer
by Guest Bobcheese123- 13 replies
- 3.7k views
I have 2 ideas actually. 1. Have an automatic mod installer. You click browse and upload the zip file. It will automatically install the mod. 2. The other idea is being able to fully customize your forum profile. What the admin does: 1. Makes profile categories 2. Makes the custom fields (included already) 3. Can remove any field he/she wants (aim, e-mail interests, etc.) 4. Decides who can customize their profile. What use user does: 1. Fills in the profiles 2. Organizes the categories to display in any order he/she chooses 3. Customizes background, foreground, titles, etc. If 1 of these mods is chosen to be made, I would want the first one.

Forwarding PM Feature
by Guest Spider-Man- 4 replies

Has the forwarding PM feature been taken out of 2.2.2 version of Invision Board? I seem to recall this was a standard feature in 2.1.7. Now sure why they would take out the forwarded PM feature though.

Hi, I know a mod is being developed to something along these lines, and I myself will probably install said mod or create my own to this affect, however, I think it should be a default feature included in 3.0. I think there should be a way to see all previous versions of a post, every time a post is editted, a log should be made storing the previous post - or, to be really cool (for want of a better word) a similar function to the skin differences report, which shows the exact changed text. There are several situations where this is useful (or necassary): Often, I find my mods warning a member because of something they have posted and editting the offending text out (r…

Suggest for the next Version.
by Guest Jean- 0 replies

There is a problem if you want to create a new skin or to change something (like a: Default directory of the style_images) Go to your ACP -> LOOK & FEEL -> Choose one of the skins -> open to menu (that is running on JS) and then choose in the option of: Edit Settings... In the : Image Options If you want to choose which set of emoticons to assign to this skin. and you have a lot of images to choosing ,you choose in the "2" directory. while you click on Edit Skin Settings. The board is re-new all the old "cache" directories ,and all the cache was not saved. You will be with a big problem. Think that you are working on the "margin" of all the board ,and w…

ACP Permissions

I was thinking, it would be nice to set up ACP restrictions based on user groups rather than just users, because it is a real pain to set them up manually for every one of my G-Mods.

IP.downloads
by Guest ichadwick- 16 replies

I haven't updated from 2.1.7 but planned to do so this weekend... but I see on the list of updates IP.downloads. Is this part of the board package in the zip file or is it separate? It's not listed on the company site anywhere for purchase. If separate, I can't find it on invisionpower.com. How do I obtain it? Thanks Ian

suggestion:- stop spammers
by Guest anyweb- 2 replies
- 1.4k views
here is another suggestion, could IPB implement a system whereby new users are denied the ability to post any URL (for example http://www.someadress.com/somespam) or post IMAGES in their first X number of posts ? 99 out of 100 spammers I ban from my forums post their URL spam in the first post (viagra/meds/pr0n/whatever) The admin could decide how many posts a new user can make before allowing them to post URLS etc. I would like to see this implemented in IPB cheers anyweb

Last active date in topics
by Guest bpn- 0 replies
When reading older topics you mays want to ask a poster a question. Then it would be useful if 'last active' was shown under the avatar. (If the user hasn't been active for a year he probably wont read your post..) I know this can be seen in the profile, but most users don't. I regularly have to tell posters on my forum that their questions to a poster will probably never be answered... (As far as I can tell 'last active' is not available to the Topic skin)

The upgrade ZIP file is missing at least the ipsclass.php file, causing errors in several places. I'm not sure more files are missing, but this is kinda frustrating (2.2.0 -> 2.2.1 had similar issues)...

SQL_PREFIX

I know your gonna say no straight away but hear me out first... :P I want support for calling tables using ipb db class system with the ability to use no prefix. At the moment i have to cheat using $this->ipsclass->DB->query("SELECT * FROM table"); Now although this system works my discussion with digi on ipsbeyond outlined a few things that lays fault to it such as inability to support other db systems and i've had some initial problems with things too. Now to answer you reason why your gonna shout no at me, not all mods can use the ibf_ prefix even tho i try to where ever possible its just always possible with various things. An example is a current mod i'm …

Collapse Code
by Guest Michael Boutros- 3 replies
- 1.5k views
Some topics are filled with code, and having to scroll up and down all day long isn't very ideal. I think an option to collapse/uncollapse the code/quote boxes would be good, especially since the underlying code is already there due to the category collapse thing. You can find several examples of this in our very own Web Programming category.
