Almost 6 months a Ipb user

Almost 6 months have passed since I bought an Ipb license and I thought that some feedback was due. Well, I am a very happy customer/ipb user. The board is great, it has so many useful and handy features that I missed at my previous forum software that I was using. The security of the board is the best, the customer service top notch, first class. What more can a guy ask for ;) My site has sparked up a very great deal since I have been using the ipb. My staff and users alike love it as well. This is not one of those common I live-this-kind-of thing, but I felt love for the Ipb and thought to share some of it here. ok as we can see.. IPS start work on 3.0.0 soon or they already start so its a great time to offer new ideas to improvement! :) ok.. there is some problem with the "friends" in the profile when you add somebody he dont get a invite.. so here a small advise. when i add somebody he got a window with a addition (like msn or icq) also possible to add shared friends.. and thats a great idea to give a BIG push to the warn panel.. because it's very simple! thats all for this time.. :wub: good luck!

Hello I first reported this problem in MAY 2006!!! When I try to submit a ticket to the Hosting Department, it gets routed to: Service and Sales: Account Assistance. At the time, Debbie said it would get looked into, but it's still happening. I have a hosting issue now - my board has been down for at least 12 hours, although the server it's on was fixed some time ago. I have put in a ticket to the Hosting Department, but again it's been routed to: Service and Sales: Account Assistance so of course it won't get urgent attention, which I understand hosting issues normally do. It's now night time, so the sales/accounts department probably isn't being staf…

I would like to see the ability to auto promote users from one group to another based on time as well as posts. With the implementation of the IPB Download Manager, we are seeing a lot of new registrations from people who ignore the forums, their welcome PM message and any other information on the system and heading straight into the download area and downloading as much as they can, as quickly as they can. PM Spamming is becoming the latest annoyance for forums and much harder to notice unless a user reports it. Would it be possible to add a PM flood control like you have for posts and searches? I think in this day and age it is a necessary feature.

Just curious if Matt and co can comment a little bit on what is happening with IPD, if they are pushing for a specific timeframe to release (I had to ask!), what kind of features are there, etc.. It would be great to have "Reply to All" link in a PM so you can reply to all the people that that PM was sent to, not just the one person who sent it to you. I custom programmed it once and everyone loved it but then an upgrade wiped out my programming and i havent been up to programming it again.

IPB 3, Subscription Manager - Nexus

I've been using the subscription manager for a while on my board, but to be honest it just never worked right, or at least to the efficiency I needed it to. In the blog post about 3.0, there was a mention that it would no longer be supported and that it would be a community based thing... Can you elaborate on that a little more? I mean... is it going to be completely removed from the software and be an optional add-on, or is it still going to be present? Like I said... to be honest I use it, but I'd rather not. About dubble posting

How about deleting the function that you can only post 1 post per every "x seconds" and instead adding a code that checks if there is any exaclty the same topic? Because even with the "x seconds" thing you run a big risk of dubble-posting, it's happened to me a couple of times. Sometimes after trying to submit a post it loads slow and it helps clicking another time, but if your unlucky it gets dubble-posted.. Regards, Rasmus

2.3.5 Diff file error?

I am trying to upgrade a ipb 3.3.4 board using the 2.3.5 diff file (because that forum is moded, I can not just replace with the upgrade pack), but I found that in the diff file the 2.3.4 codes are marked with "+++" but the 2.3.5 codes are marked with "---". There are errors reported when I use the SVN to merge. Maybe that is the 2.3.5 -> 2.3.4 diff pack by mistake. So is that file wrong ?

You could make the Skin Search & Replace actually useful to us that want to use it to change code in the skins. For example I copied a line from the global_board_footer and pasted it into the search box and it couldn't find it, Why not I just copied it from the template itself. Very weak tool in my opinion.
