April 28, 200816 yr In the test forums: "Read" should be "red" I guess if thats right? Any English majors? No, red is a color. Read refers to reading.
April 28, 200816 yr "Read" pronounced "red" when talking about past tense. e.g. I have already read that book Then "Read" pronouced "reed" when talking about present or future tense. e.g. I am going to read that book. Your brain has to work out the context from the words around it to figure out which pronounceation to use. 3DKiwi
April 28, 200816 yr This shouldn't be fixed. Red - one of the primary colors Read - act of reading; to read something.. (*) comes in Past (*) comes in Future (*) comes in Present
May 1, 200816 yr This forum is not read or monitored by our administrators or moderators. should it not be...This forum is not read nor monitored by our administrators or moderators.
May 1, 200816 yr I think you'd only use 'nor' if you were also using the word 'neither'.This forum is neither read nor monitored by our administrators or moderators. But I think it's fine as it is right now.
May 1, 200816 yr I think you'd only use 'nor' if you were also using the word 'neither'. But I think it's fine as it is right now. Not that it *really* matters but "nor" is used with any negative, not just "neither", so the use of "nor" in that sentance would be justified as it would be preceded by "not". I'm not sure whether "nor" is required in that sentance, or whether either "or" or "nor" would be acceptable, however. </posh-child-talk>
May 2, 200816 yr Actually "nor" is only used with "neither" as noted by Michael above. And it's "sentence" not "sentance". ;)
May 2, 200816 yr Actually "nor" is only used with "neither" as noted by Michael above. And it's "sentence" not "sentance". ;) lol, you're right it is sentence. But nor can be used with any negative according to various dictionaries: nor
May 2, 200816 yr What I (and Michael) meant was that "nor" could not be used in the following: This forum is not read nor monitored by our administrators or moderators. It would need to be: This forum is neither read nor monitored by our administrators or moderators. Obviously the word "nor" can be used in other contexts, as you illustrated.
