Topic and forum subscriptions sugestion
by Guest Amy T- 1 reply

Not sure if this has been suggested or not but the emails that are sent out when you subscribe to a topic only have the forum title in the subject I think it would be better if it had the topic title in the subject.

When you successfuly make a payment via PayPal (which is the only one I've tested), it has a box saying: Click here to return to the client area But, it takes you to /index.php instead of http://www.invisionpower.com/customer/index.html Thought you would like to know :)

Ignored Users
by Guest Rοb- 4 replies
This may or may not have cropped up before/elsewhere, but I was surprised to discover Ignored Users can add comments to user profiles as per normal. Perhaps this (and other things, such as Last Visitor information etc) can be looked at for a future version so Ignored Users are actually ignored, otherwise the door is left open for potential harassment of members. The more tools members have at their disposal (to deal with troublesome users themselves), the less babysitting board admins/moderators have to do :)

Class __destruct issue
by Guest Luke- 3 replies
- 1.8k views
After reading Matts blog entry this morning about misbehaving destructors in PHP 5.2.0 and earlier and hearing about his solution, I was motivated in attempting to find a more transparent solution. After all, I will have to do this after I completely migrate to PHP 5. It took me a little while to figure out, but I managed to write a piece of code that corrects the destructor order no matter what version you're currently using (whether it be before or after PHP 5.2.0). All you need to do is include the "core" class, extend all other classes with the core class, and change "_ _ construct" and "_ _ destruct" to "_ _ _ construct" and "_ _ _ destruct" (this gives the core …

Links System for 3.0?
by Guest Bamfer- 18 replies
- 2.8k views
Currently I am using Brandon's Link System 3.0 with IPB 2.3.5. Will there be a links system for 3.0? My board requires a link system. Its a major part of my advertising process with other boards. Without being able to exchanging links I will not be able to advertise my board with other boards. I have quite a few links (over 200) and my big fear atm is not having a link system in order to exchange links with other sites once I upgrade to 3.0. IP Nexus has a link area but I have no use for IP Nexus. Also, I do not allow guest posting (99.9% of other board Admins do not want to sign up just to leave a link on my board) so adding a link in a forum that allows guests to p…

Making moderator actions more publicly visible
by Guest kablam- 19 replies
- 2.9k views
I believe that users should have the right to know what's going on behind the scenes in their community - or their admin at least given an option to let them know. Currently, when a moderator deletes a post or a topic in IPB, it just disappears without a trace and for the most part, users are oblivious. 1. I'd really love to see an ACP option that makes such moderator actions more visible to the public. For example, when a post is deleted, a message saying "This post has been deleted by a moderator. Reason: off topic" should replace the original post space - and maybe a link to PM the particular moderator could be included, in case the post author wants clarification or …

Auto Media Embedding

I would like to see an auto media embedding support for all famous video sharing sites. Look at this add-on for example if you don't understand what I mean: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=189267

Member Messenger + clickable smileys per user
by Guest kurtie- 2 replies
Hey ISP, Not sure if this idea has been given, but I think it would be a nice feature if people could have a chat between themselves via the board, for example when you see member_A in the online list, that you can click on him and get the option to chat with him in private. Another idea was to make clickable emoticons selectable per user, so they can choose theirselves which ones they like to have in the window on the left. Sorry if this is not the correct area to post this topic in.

Password too weak suggestion
by Guest Lindsey_- 9 replies
I submitted this as a bug report but it's not a bug :P Users should not be able to use their username as their password at all. Even a better idea... is to add a 'password too weak' notification area :)

I was curious about the Para Chat integration for 3.0. I use Para Chat and was wondering if 3.0 will support Para Chat right out of the box. Or will Para Chat have to do anything on their end? The chatroom is very popular with my members. There are quite a few members in the chatroom on a daily basis. I don't want to upgrade to 3.0 and realize that the chatroom will not work and then be told that it will be fixed on the next release 3.0.1. That could take weeks. Thanks!

Great News from IPS!
by Guest Genestoy- 2 replies
- 1.2k views
This is the best news I have heard from IPS! I for one am looking forward to this change. I checked the SWF website and if I am reading it correctly (see code below) the admin will be able to set the maximum filesize allowed for upload for each separate file/picture uploaded. Certainly hope that is the case as I spend way too much time re-sizing large photos that were uploaded. Way to go IPS! void setFileSizeLimit(file_size_limit) Dynamically modifies the file_size_limit setting. This applies to all future files that are queued. The file_size_limit parameter will accept a unit. Valid units are B, KB, MB, and GB. The default unit is KB. Examples: 2147…

Report system suggestion
by Guest TrixieTang- 2 replies
I know this may already be in IPB 3 (Didn't see anything on this idea in the thread on the new report system, so), but never hurts to ask. I'd like to see it so when reporting a post users can select a violation category that the admin's specified, example. Illegal Content Flaming Wrong section Preferably with the ability to add an urgency value to each category to help get more serious reports dealt with faster.

I think the News on Board index is fabulous but I would love it if there was an ability to show Date and Time of when it was posted. It would be helpful in the fact that if my users don't know its new they may not check it so it makes things difficult. Also I hope with the new hooks system that perhaps we will be able to use Blogs for updates instead of just a forum as that's where I post my news. I also think it would be great to show the last X number of news posts instead of just one.

Appeal System 1 2
by Guest TestingSomething- 32 replies
- 4.6k views
I think it would be nice to have an appeal system for people who are suspended or banned. Would be useful for sites which may have a moderator take action on someone and may want to have an appeal system where it can be appealed to an admin or maybe to everyone for them all to review it as a whole. I may make something like that myself because I've just always wanted to have that type of setup (similar to gamefaqs, that's where I originally got the idea years ago). That's what I feel is a good way to run a site, have some sort of appeals system and maybe a limit on appeals that can be made by a member. WOuld possibly fit in well with the report system?

From Mod Dev Land
by Guest -Calypso-- 17 replies
- 2.6k views
'IN_DEV', 1 is all well and doing good things, the one thing that I know it does not do right now is allow exportation of custom template bits. Would like to have a way to export any template bit. Working on mod, the thing that takes the longest to build in the .xml other than tables/fields/inserts etc. is template bit. May have a mod with any number of template bits but making the .xml currently has to be done 1 by 1. Thanks for looking.

Several more IPB 3 suggestions
by Guest TrixieTang- 1 reply
I know I mentioned these in other threads, but would likely get more attention seperately. First suggestion, there should a way to set the required strength of passwords you can use, options to require. Username or display name can't be the same as password x characters or more Lower case characters Capitals Numbers Symbols And a blacklist, where you can put in passwords or parts of passwords, such as banning 123 or abc from use as or in passwords. Second suggestion, a lot of people have been reporting blank characters that can be abused, I suggest a blank character stripper that removes any of these the admin specifies from posts, names, etc.

Spelling Check for next version? 1 2
by Guest General_Zhaoyun- 33 replies
- 5.6k views
Hi, There doesn't seem to be any spelling check for IPB at the moment. May I suggest that there is a spelling check function (somewhat similar to Words) in the forum. This spelling check can be used for checking any spelling errors and might help in correcting spelling mistakes.

"Food Chain"
by Guest Kfir- 10 replies
- 1.5k views
I saw suggestions for super moderators and such, and I would like to suggest a feature something like a "food chain" in the ACP for groups. In that section you can put each group above or under any other group, and by this allow them automatically to control the groups that are bellow them in the "food chain".

How about a GOOD BACKUP feature?
by Guest Rod.- 9 replies
- 1.7k views
My forum is over 8 years old, you can imagine how much data we have in our database. It's about 5 GB large. Right now I'm pulling backups via SSH. What Invision should do is create an automated backup feature. You set the time you want the backup to begin, and it pulls a backup of the mysql db. You can also have parameters where you can input FTP info, and once the backup is complete, it will automatically upload the db to a remote ftp site. Kind of like how WHM does a backup. Or, it can just store the backups on the server; either way. Every so often apache loses contact with sql, and then I end up with a corrupt database. If a repair doesn't work, I have to restore a …

Friends
by Guest TestingSomething- 11 replies

I'm sure that the friends system has been improved in IPB 3 already, but just noting again that I don't like how it currently is where it pops up the list. I always thought it would be better in the my assistant popup as a new tab honestly. And maybe My Assistant reworked in itself also.

How about a Member Map?
by Guest Rod.- 8 replies
- 1.4k views
It would be a really cool idea if a member map was built into IB3.0. That way, if someone is traveling out of town and they want to meet up with other members (which members in my community do all of the time), they could click on MEMBERS and sort by city, or just look at the map. Any chance this will be made a feature?
