Luke Posted September 5, 2008 Share Posted September 5, 2008 As good as it is to have My Assistant attached to the form window, the fact that it disappears when the form changes is quite useless. Having it in a window is far easier, and you can click on items and have the parent window change, but have the "assistant" window stay intact. The only way to keep it DOM and not reload it is to make the body of the page load via ajax, and keep the board wrapper loaded at all times, having the DOM window part of that wrapper. I would suggest to change the external content (pop-up) to internal content "that will be at the ground", popup has never been comfortable for me. I would say if it can't be done well in my assistent, then there needs to just be a flat out new section on the forum itself for the friends list to appear so it won't have to be a popup. I'm sure the reason it's not a section currently is because they figured people willw ant to browse the forum and have their friend list there also, but the friend list is not even refreshing, so what good is it to keep it there long term as another window? I suggested a long time ago that they have a notification come up (like in aim, msn, trillian etc) when a friend gets on the forum, but they said that would be resource intensive and not worth it, so I don't know... Amy T Posted September 8, 2008 Share Posted September 8, 2008 Yes one of the comments I have gotten on my site about the friends is some one can not give a link out to friends that takes you to the friends list. You can of course give out a link to your profile and then they can click on the friends tab but to some people they do not want that extra step.
