Kfir
I heard of MySQL 6.0 in development, and I wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade your current MySQL databse to the new version when it comes out? and if IPB will support it? ^^MeX^^
I heard of MySQL 6.0 in development, and I wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade your current MySQL databse to the new version when it comes out? and if IPB will support it? I think it will be, definitely, even if 2.x isnt going to be, IPB 3 will for sure support it. Besides, why exactly do you need Mysql 6?
Cybertimber2009
Sometimes forward compatability is questionable. One should side with caution on upgrading to it right off the bat, so check here first. Otherwise though to answer your question, yes you can upgrade a database from MySQL 5 to MySQL 6. There usually is a suppled tool for that. (I wasn't aware when I transitioned from 4 to 5, corrupted some things >_<)
Jaggi
i think it will be one of those things that is done as it rises. Basically what they did with ipb 2 and mysql5. Just release a version that has the changes if any needed because mysql 6.0 is still in beta so everything is subject to change.

bfarber
I have not tested and won't be testing MySQL 6 until it gets much further along and ready for release/has been released. I cannot guarantee support for it at this time. That's like me trying to guarantee IPB will work out of the box with PHP8
