[Suggestion]Mask Hidden forums in ACP

Now that we have the great feature of only giving access to certain areas of ACP to mods/admins we have delegated more ACP tasks to our staff. But we still have a hierachy. And whilst the current system is great for giving hierchical access there are still some holes. I would like the ability to allow lower level admins to manage forums that they have access to without seeing forums that are hidden from them in ACP. Currently they cannot click on any forums that they do not have access to but they can see that they exist and theoretically could gain access to them via ACP. Thanks in advance

Hi, I've been a vBulletin user for almost 6 years. In that time, I have had many experiences with them and have formed an understanding on how they operate. One thing which I think they excel on, is customer support. If I had a problem with my vBulletin forum, most of the time I'd just search on their community forum, and usually I'd find a solution. If not, I'd just make a topic about it, and most of the time, a user would provide a solution to my problem. In contrast, users are often directed to the ticket system on this forum. I've found topics related to some problems I've had so far, but the staff just say "Please open a ticket" - So basically, there's no soluti…

More power for moderators?

Here's a small suggestion, users in the Moderators group can currently edit simple fields of other users' profiles. Now, what if a spammer registers and wrecks havoc, and only a moderator is present at the time and no admins around? I think that Moderators should be allowed to move other users' from the Members/Validating group, into the Banned group. And only move Members to Banned, to prevent moderators from giving themselves (or other people) more power than they currently have. That way, moderators can ban members but still not be able to access the Admin CP. What do you think?

I still couldn't find a general feedback area, so here it goes. I had hoped and thought IPS would have made some significant improvements in its customer resource access since my last visit. I see the three sites still don't share info or pass logins. That's a negative. I see the downloads still reports me as not having a license, although I have three and its done this same thing at least two other times. I don't submit tickets any more, choosing to muddle through with my own solutions or use alternative software, since the process of navigating the IPS network is still as convoluted as it ever was. Hot topics with polls - not so hot topics?

I've always found it rather peculiar that there are separate icons for "hot topics" and "topics with polls". That means that a topic with a poll can't become a hot topic... and a hot topic that has a poll added to it later is suddenly not a hot topic anymore! Weird! Having a separate topic icon for polls is completely unnecessary. Surely the standard topic icons should be used for ALL topics (regardless of whether they're polls or not). The tag word "POLL" is a more than adequate indicator that there is a poll attached to a particular topic.

OpenID in IPB 3.0 and logging in with Gmail account

OpenID support is a great addition for IPB 3.0. As you know, Gmail is now an OpenID server. For Standard OpenID, should be a URl, like: http://myurl.com but for Gmail openID , it should be a email, like: muaccount@gmail.com The OpenID feature in IPB 3.0 doesn't support the Gmail (email) method. FYI.

Hi I think if a person wants to add just images without text, it should be allowed. But right now the forum script wants you to add some text. If a person wants to start a thread on his or her forum without text, it should be possible.

IPB 3 hooks feedback/suggestions

Well some of us started doing some testing with the new hooks system along with some other new features the board has. I was having a few questions about the hooks system at the moment that i would like to know if there are any answers for them. 1. When adding a new hook trough the ACP there is no place to enter the RAW PHP code like you do when importing an XML as if you were installing a hook. Not sure if that's a bug or not but it does not add the PHP code from the file to the DB unless the hook was installed trough the import field. 2. access points - I am not sure how they are working at the moment, How the list of access points actually generated (at first thoug…

OK I bought it but it might have glitched or something. I put my account in and received right away e-mail about the purchase. I did not even put my dad's card number, but it did that. So after that, I put dad's card and it confirmed. How long will it take to pass pending?

Is this the IPB 3.0 skin for real?

I hope the IPB 3.0 skin is much easier to skin, because right now, it appears to have added dozens more CSS classes. When can we get a skin that is default like vBulletin, where you can easily change the CSS in several areas at once? I realize this takes a little more thought, to ensure colors and links don't conflict with eachother, but vBulletin currently is the easiest software to skin on the market. Nothing comes close. I'd say, in this order: vBulletin > IPB > phpBB (in terms of skinning)

1 year support instead of 6 months

Just some feedback, IPS should consider giving 1 year support on new purchases of their product as appose to the current 6 months. There should also be a some kind of discount for customers who opt to pay for a year of support instead of 6 months, I asked about this and I was told that no discount is given but I just want to comment and give my feedback as a new customer. Subforums dropdown menu on Board Index

Hello there people, Wouldn't it be nice if subforums on the Board Index appeared as a drop down menu? I've been wanting this for a long time and what little I have accomplished I have found very useful. Saves on Index space and flashy too! :D For my own forum it goes quite deep in terms of subforums. About 4-5 levels of subforums in some areas. For myself and possibly others it would be of tremendous value if instead of listing subforums they were instead packed inside a drop down function. Hello folks. Yesterday I paid for a Board and for conversion help. I note that there is still nothing to download and I assume from other posts here that the payment will not go through until tomorrow being a business day. That being the case I am wondering what the next steps will be. For example, tomorrow when I go into downloads and there is something there, what steps will be necessary for me to make my forum? Secondly, I have an Invision Plus Board that I wanted to convert the posts etc. will someone do that for me for the extra money I paid or do I do that myself and how? Thank you.

Hi It would be nice if we can post links to files elsewhere for downloads, in posts directly, without having to upload the files for download links. Something like in the download mod by ntd. There should be another option other than upload file option to , post a link for file hosted else where.

I've found a few annoying things with regards to the messenger feature that I'd like to see fixed in the next version of IPB: Sending a copy of a PM to your e-mail: There is currently no way to e-mail yourself a copy of a PM. I would like to see either the notification e-mails you get when you receive a new PM include the full text of the PM, or have a function that allows you to e-mail it to yourself (perhaps under the forwarding option in the messenger section of the control panel). Well I narrowed down two forums to buy but I have to choose. IPB or vB. Although you guys might say IPB, I really want honest opinions. Also I got three more questions. 1. Is there discount on buying IPB? Because I am pretty young, and my parents do not let me buy stuff easily. 2. Can you request mods? 3. I have heard that you can download mods but you have to actually edit them, not just click and installs. ( I heard that vB lets you do that but not IPB ). More control over usernames

In IPB 2.x (not sure if it's different in IPB 3.0) you can only restrict usernames using an allow list. I think that there should also be a disallow list, so if you want to disallow only one character you can. I really think it's only logical to include a character disallow list, since some other software has characters they disallow, and with only an allow list integration can sometimes be made more of a pain than it should be.
