just checking in to see if any news about the future of this most useful app as the marketplace is now closed and version 5 is due out soonish?

A new version has been uploaded to the marketplace but is pending approval. Changes include:
Tested for 4.6 compatibility Open Rate is now included when viewing newsletter back issues Option to include guest content (disabled by default) Fixed an issue where users who manually subscribed but opted out of emails did not receive the newsletter Removed extra line break from some templates

In my personal notification settings (not part of the Newsletters admin), I do see an option to be notified by email, but not for the pre-distribution copy.
I’m not finding the notification settings in the Newsletters admin. I’ll go check the manual to figure out where it is. Unfortunately, I fear all my other brain cells except the apparently useless two I’ve been rubbing together may be lost forever.

Edit the user group in your ACP, Social tab if I’m not mistaken. 

I had this issue too after the 4.5 update. One of our users pinged me about the notifications no longer being full-text.
Have you checked to see if System > Settings > Email Settings > Truncate Content is toggled?
It was suddenly toggled on after the 4.5 update. I can't honestly remember if it was a setting I turned off way back on 4.1 that got re-enabled, or if it's something new, but it seems to have fixed the problem.

It's compatible. I will upload it again so it makes part of the marketplace in the ACP.

The AdminCP has new security mechanisms. That app needs to be updated to use CSRF protection - until it is, it will not work, unfortunately.

I'm sorry for any confusion on third party items, in this case, we did list a very large amount of core changes in the release notes affecting third party developers, 4.5 is a larger update, and most third party items will require an update for 4.5.  This is actually something that should be checked on every update though, so I'm sorry that you were not aware of that in this case. 
Worst case, if the developer cannot assist you in correcting this issue, reply to your support ticket and we can review your options on a restore for you.  
 

The problem with including the full text of every post is that you may hit some limits with regard to storage (of the issue content) and, if you're using an API like SendGrid, with the request size. How much activity are we talking about? How many posts, on average?

Subscribing with my gigantic member ID values is now working perfectly. Thanks!

I'll have to release a new version to make it compatible on account creation via ACP.

Thank you so much for putting this on the agenda for the next version.
Right now I'm running the Bulk Followers Management plugin every time we add a member, which is wonderful (I used it to set follow preferences for 350 members at once when we first set up--it saved me incalculable time), but I'm looking forward to being able to automate this process, especially since I'm not normally the person in charge of adding new member accounts.
