I can't edit my comment above, but I did have an observation now after looking through the new achievements.
Is the poor image quality forced by the system with some kind of weird compression, or did you guys just not use the right size when uploading them?  The pixels are so poorly resized you can barely read out any wording or numbering details.

Seems like a great new feature - thanks to all those involved! 
I do agree with several previous comments that being able to 'spend' points would really take this to the next level though. The badges are a very nice touch, but I suspect they will appeal mostly to the community's existing power users. Whereas if the points could be integrated with commerce and downloads, it could become really powerful. 
Seems really promising though.  🙂 
 

This site has been running 4.6 Alpha for only a few days now.  Based on previous 4.x releases, it will take several beta releases before IPS makes it available for download in your client area.  Once it's available there, it will take several 4.6.x releases before its "really" considered stable and the marketplace developers begin releasing updates to their products. 
If your site doesn't use marketplace apps a stable 4.6 will likely be available 2 to 3 months from now. If you are dependent on marketplace apps it could be many months before they get updated especially if the developer has lots of apps to update. There are a fair amount of apps that haven't yet been updated to 4.5 so it seems that updating isn't as easy to accomplish as it would seem.
This timeline is based on IPS keeping Achievements "as is".  If they should decide to take customer feedback into consideration and include their various suggestions to change, add or delete functionality then the timeline could be extended much further.  Time will tell...

if there is none i will make one,
instead of making thread and editing them everytime changes, just have one page you can see everything is more cost effective

I do think this could be useful yes 😅
At the moment we are trying to find the line between people getting crazy competitive and also illustrating what badges earn what. 😸

I agree with what many people here are asking for. I would really appreciate a way to surface what badges exist, how they are earned, and some explanation of the ranks and points system. I totally understand the sentiment of not wanting to surface this info but I think it needs to be an option.

One other thing we haven't spoken about is that you can allow your moderators to deduct points from a user when they are warned.

 

Where do we see what can be earned? Or what the badges mean? There’s no descriptions.
A really good example of a achievements system is on HotUKDeals, you can see the list of badges/awards that can be earned. I know Matt has said he doesn’t want to make it a game. But users seeing what they can earn is an incentive. But you can have stricter rules and not just have people randomly post.

So I just recaived a badge here, and in my profle I can see this: "47 points until your next rank" and I will be not able to know how many points do I have in total and how i earned it? It is confusing (I am talking about my opinion as user of this forum). I am thinking (as a user) that there should be place wher I can click to check my history, my "future" ranks etc.

Can these points be used to cash in a prize or rewards from the Ecommerce? If the user had racked up 200 points then they can redeem a thing from the product page for free. 

Earning points is cool, but the only thing a member can earn is "Badges"?

Members Shop is the perfect gamification plugin, because it offers 'abilities' to the members, ways to spend their points. 

-Pin a Topic (For set amount of days)
-Change Member Title
-"Purchase" an item in the Downloads section with points
- So much more.


In my Downloads, I have made custom desktop and mobile wallpapers that can be purchased with points. I also offer custom made profile photos, cover photos and signature banners. I plan on offering more soon.

This has been working out great on my forum. People love earning enough points to collect them all. Thank god that @Adriano Faria has taken over Members Shop. Hopefully it will continue to grow. If there was a way to use the Points earned from the IPS Achievements, but then use them with the features Members Shop has to offer, this would be a great method of utilizing both systems.

Appreciate the intro, Matt! Really grateful to have joined the Invision team and am looking forward to working with the Invision Community. I know that sounds like a blanket statement, but I really do feel genuinely excited and fired up about it. We are trying to break away from large monolithic releases spaced 12-18 months apart which leaves long periods of time devoid of any significant new functionality.

In terms of demand for this feature, it's been requested a lot for our enterprise communities for quite some time.

As someone once said... 'If it ain't broke, don't try fix it'.
This just seems like change for change sake, and certainly wasn't one of the things which was on my mind when it came to improvements that could have been made to the suite overall.
This is not meant as a criticism, more an observation. 🙂

If we really want to modernize things, we should have a "Night Mode" switch in the corner.  (I think there's a theme in the marketplace like this, actually)

Yes, I would very much like to see this as well.  I (and others on my forum) have many long-running conversations that are over 50 pages, and it would be fantastic to be able to search inside a conversation just as you can search from within a forum topic.

Is there any way to search inside of a conversation, for example if a conversation thread has 50 pages and you wish to find a specific message?
(Or is there an add-on that does this?)
