Would not go by what PMA is reporting there as that info can often be behind based on refresh timing, garbage collection, etc.. I ran the task manually with a manually queried SELECT * from that table and after running the task manually, I have new entries. Therefore, the table is slowly being built as intended so it does not bring down your community.

After your support finally unarchived all my posts from the forums_archive_posts table (which took more than three weeks to complete), I have started the process of archiving all the content on my board to a seperate database. 
I filled in all the details in the ACP and of course - nothing happens. I started the process two days ago, the phpmyadmin from the new database for the archived content looks like this:

The whole table has exactly 4.6 mb for the last two days and nothing is happening. Theres clearly a big issue with the archiving and unarchiving process on Invision Community. 
How can it be fixed?

For anyone else experiencing this - I've finally found a fix.
The issue was due to the 'bimchatbox' application not uninstalling properly - it left entries in the 'ibf_widget_areas' table labelled 'announcements' which stayed there after the application was removed.
Upon every page view, the forum tried to load up the widget but couldn't because the application wasn't there any more, thus generating one error in the log for every view.
Manually removing these entries from the database table solved the problem.

I can recommend the use of Pages as a news/blog application as well. I had a Wordpress blog for many years (since around 2008) running alongside an Invision Community for forums, and started studying bringing it all into the same platform in my existing IPS install.
It does take some knowledge of HTML coding/site design right now, as the Pages application out of the box in V4 is very generic and standard, with no real templates to help set a news portal up (hopefully this changes in V5). But if you know what you're doing and are happy to tinker with custom form fields and templates, you can make something very cool and native-looking.
I'll share my results as an example:

I'm currently in the process of migrating all of my legacy Wordpress content over to this unified IPS platform, and while I really did like Wordpress and how it worked with images/media/post editing, having a single platform and leveraging my existing forum community for news comments etc has been incredibly valuable to me.
You can try the free demo on the IPS site as Mark said, but if you're an existing customer and you don't mind changing your client terms and conditions to meet the new self-hosted pricing structure, you will get all of the IPS apps right away - so if you want more time to play with it you can have 'free' access to Pages immediately to explore your options.

We do not offer downloadable trials unfortunately. It would be a separate instance you would need to use, which is available as a trial on cloud from our main page
It would not be a separate installation. It would be part of your current install. So what you would do there is actually move your current community to root where your current CMS is. You can then set the pages application as your default application.
This is not something available at the present time. You could however potentially make use of things like zapier for these kinds of things.

That sounds like a question for Facebook.  They are the ones who have changed their requirements/policies.

I personally gave up on the social media platforms. They change their rules on a whim and don’t give others a chance to adapt.  You just suddenly find one day sometimes stopped working and you are left holding the bag.

Fun times ahead. AI-powered bots trying to post spam and getting into an endless back and forth with AI-powered moderation tools. 

It is supported.  A 500 error is very generic.  It's like a check engine light on your car.  It does not say what the problem is just that something went wrong.  
Part of good security is not exposing errors publicly.  This means instead of saying for example the server ran out of memory, you could get that error.  It also means you could be missing a PHP module and get that message.  There are TONS of things that could cause the problem and none of them directly related.  It's just a way of saying "uhhh it's broke".  🙂 

It's funny I had the opposite thing happen the other day. I was on 8.1 and had to drop down to 8.0 to get it to work. There sure seems to be a lot of 500 Error threads lately, which all seem somewhat related to php. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, but this is the problem of the client himself and possibly the company where he has hosting, not yours. When deciding on a forum or website, you need to learn some basics yourself. And there's an easy way to do that. Only provide support for software issues. And when it comes to hosting settings etc, each customer using self-hosted on their own.

Why do you immediately conclude that self-hosted client servers are outdated and lack the features listed above? It's just a cover. Because if someone can't prepare the environment, it's their problem not yours.

I will happily discuss concerns and explain the “why” but the continual allegations of being greedy or dishonest are disappointing. 
 
You need more than PHP and MySQL to deliver modern features. It’s the way it is. We continue to move with the times.
