i will have to see how they are handling the emojis, i have an update coming for 2.6+ branch, that will allow some of the extensions that are available now for use of emoji's. I had older versions of babble that included emoji1 libs for emoji's and processing, but it made the babble installer file extremely large (like 9 mb) which for some, this was bigger than their upload limit (and the installer for IPS isn't a chunk uploader), so i chose to remove it cause of this.

with the changes on the latest versions, the online list is directly tied to the connection, but there is a delay (something node does, not babble) if disconnects happen suddenly, it "waits" to see if they will reconnect. as some reports i have received, what seems to be happening, the connections are just remaining open or present even after the user has disconnected permanently. I will be addressing this in the next major version, for now the best way to get rid of these users, is to shut down the node script and restart. same goes for the chat service users, if you notice this, send me a PM here or on my site and i will reset it. i'm looking into automating a restart on the chat service via a cron job once a week or so, to help avoid this issue.

it will be released on monday, the issue seems to be if you are using htaccess or equivilant to rewrite the url to remove the index.php.

As some of you have noticed, i seemed to have either abandoned my apps or just disappeared. fear not, i am still actively developing and around. the reason for radio silence, life. as some of you know i do have a job outside of my development, we took on a new contract there from several local business and were upgrading their systems, so i was quite busy (as i usually work from home, but this last several weeks, i was out in the field).

the other even that happened, like most, i have a laptop and a desktop and i also have roommates. I usually use my laptop thru out the day to do things with and at night, its the domain of my sisters children (for school) and/or my sister (for her work) and i use my desktop. however at the beginning of the year, i purchased a new motherboard and cpu (any one curious it was a ryzen 6 1600) and a new monitor (a samsung 4k tv). well after a few days, my gpu died (gtx 970) and i was forced to go back to my intel cpu/mobo to use it's onboard gpu (as ryzen doesn't have one) and i was limited to 30hz on my new monitor (and it was causing me headaches) so i was unable to work, till late in the evening (around 9pm) but that was nearing my bedtime (as i was getting up around 4am for my other job). I have finally (after almost 5 weeks in RMA) have received a replacement and my desktop back in the rotation.

so these two events left me with very limited time to keep up with everything, but i am back now. I am also looking to hire a friend of mine who is familiar with my apps, to help me out in times like this, but i will need to bring him up to speed as things like the babble chat service can be daunting to some one who is unfamiliar with how it operates.

Over the next few weeks i will be addressing the outstanding issues and reports i have. monday i will be releasing a updated versions of downloads plus to address a few issues that have cropped up in it and to introduce a few new features that have been requested.

I would imagine it might be a conflict with another app/plugin.

also keep in mind, the settings don't cascade down, so if you have for your category setup:

Parent
   child
   child

and you have them set for the parent they will not cascade down to the children categories.

it might also be theme related, so try it out on the default them. if you find the problem, let me know what it is, if it is theme/app related, let me know so i can get with the author(s) and figure out the why

Make sure the group is enabled, or it wont show up. you can addtional groups and use the template plugin that cjmenu comes with or create a template hook.

if you could show me an example of what you mean about a 12 key layout, i could advise best way to go about it (either with a custom block or how to create a custom CSS for it).

go to the menu item you want to open up in a new window, click on the "style" tab, and in the "attributes" box, add this:

target="_blank"

you can add style/css class's/attributes for menu items there.

yes, go to ACP->CJ Menu->Primary Group, then click on "group management" and then click on "edit group". when the group settings open up, find "Enable Group" and click the toggle off and save the group. The default IPS menu should now be used instead of the cj menu primary group.

I haven't made any changes to the service since 2.6.4 was released, so if they suddenly stopped working, it might be something on your end, like a bad cache for the js files (have you tried clearing them using the support tool in the acp?). when i tested the ban/kick/etc features on the service, they all worked for me on my live site and dev site. i'll test again tonight when i get home and i'll check them out on your site as well.

That is not working - i created a test account and registered fine without being banned

And PM messages are not being sent to the main account when a duplicate is registered

Can you look into these issues asap please as I have members threatening each other with legal action and I know one of them is creating duplicate accounts to stir things up.

no you shouldn't if node.js is on the same server as your apache/nginx.

If a user gets the error "cannot connect to the node server..." while others can, what can the person do?

if you are using a port other than 443/80, a lot of public wifi's and companies will block the ability to connect to ports outside of like ports 21/22/80/443 and a few others. some firewalls (on their computers) might block those ports as well. (one of the reasons i have separate servers for the chat service, using port 443 cause of this potential issue).

Is this something like a call out that can be shut off to guests?

the socket initially opens up a ajax request (XHR) to establish a connection with the chat service server, and then upgrades it to a websocket if it can. I'm gonna assume (since i have guest view enabled) that the mobile test isn't capable of making xhr and/or websocket connections, and it is a limitation of the test. the reason for the redundancy (why it shows it attempting to connect multiple times) is cause the socket.io code is setup if it can't establish a connection, to try a few more times with in a x amount of time (this also covers interruptions in internet too). I really don't see how i can "fix" this, as i don't think it is a problem, it is how the script is suppose to react.

when answering it all seems OK but when clicking to reply it just hides the text away and dont reply, I went into the database and added a answer and it shows but it won't delete from the delete button either, it just pops up and says delete then it don't.

the language string exist in both the regular lang and jslang portions, the key is "babble_disconnection". when i searched for it in the language pack, 2 came up (one is for the php side of things, the other is for the js side). 

I've made a video, maybe i am doing something differently than you, so if i am let me know. the only thing i can really suggest would be to enable it, and then disable 1 by 1 the other apps and see while kw enabled, the error goes away with another app/plugin. if that proves fruitless, check the actual server logs to see if there is anything in there (as IPS system logs aren't always comprehensive). 

my best guess is there another error that i am not coming across from KW or the error is present only in combination with another app/plugin.

This is the error i got with the bug i mentioned about it doing a look up on a column that doesn't exist in kw. i could only get it to pop when a new kw was added in and tried going to go to activity stream -> unread. it might be a case as you mentioned earlier a conflict between KW and another app/plugin for the one you are having.

Its an error in the AS code trying to do a look up on a column that doesn't exist in the kw table. I've corrected the issue and will be releasing an update after a more thorough test this time to make sure its not causing any other issues.

I have a check to see if the method "container" exits, but container() method appears to throw an exception, if the 'container' isn't set in the $databaseColumnMap. i'll wrap it in a try/catch so it doesn't print it to log in the future.

I've sent you a PM that contains 2.6.2.1, that should fix the white screen issue that 2.6.2 can cause on certain servers. this should also correct any connection issues being caused to the service. 

if you are running 2.6.1, it might not fully work with the changes done to the babble script. 

as for this problem you had with the upgrading, was there any errors or just a white page? can you check your servers error log and see if there are any in system->support->system logs. i haven't seen this yet and i upgrade about 5 sites last night to 2.6.2

This applies to both the IPS default menu and CJ Menu (as long as the menu item is type application and linked to babble and the permissions are set to use the apps permissions), go to System->Application, find babble in the list there, and click on the little arrow besides the babbles name, it will populate with another row called "Babble" and click on the lock icon, and you will be able to set the permissions there.

if you use cj menu and use the attach category feature for babble, the menu will follow the rooms permissions, but the parent item will use the module permissions. 

I just use the blankTemplate instead of the globalTemplate, but babble is design with a solid colored background. however you should be able to style it, in your customs css add:
