Kirill N reacted to TSP in Updating topics table on every view still not a great idea
In IPS 3.4 you had a solution that would save the topic views to a separate table. Every 3 hours it would then run a task that would update the views-column for the topics-table from the data gathered in this separate table.
In IPS 4 you dropped this optional method and went with LOW_PRIORITY updates, which solves a problem where lots of queries to update the views-column in the topics-table could frequently lock the topics-table.
However, this is still far from ideal for big communities with a lot of topics and visitors present. As it means that the query cache, for queries involving the topics-table, is very unlikely to come into play. As a consequence this can play a significant difference in the average server response time for the community, as it's "never" able to utilize the query cache for "topic list" queries.
I would like you to reconsider this approach and let us be able to get such an option back again.

That's the question  Since it's a browser plugin, perhaps it can bypass protections on the ckeditor/IPS client side, but then I would have thought that there'd be server-side code in place to prevent HTML from getting in...

Kirill N got a reaction from Ziggs in Activity Stream: make condensed view default?
I feel like the way it is now is bad for forum activity. When everything is expanded, I feel like people will simply read all the new content on one page without wanting to read the rest of the responses and contributing to the topic.
For example, imagine there's a topic with a long interesting discussion going on. And the latest response says "You couldn't be more wrong!" In expanded activity stream view, that response is shown without context and doesn't seem interesting so there's a good chance that a user viewing the stream will ignore it and just keep scrolling. In condensed view, that only says "X responded to a topic" the user, wondering what X said, visits the topic, starts reading the earlier posts and now there's a much bigger chance that they engage in the discussion.

I love the new browser notifications feature but it's really annoying that it keeps sending me notifications for content that I last viewed and left open in a tab.
Notifications should be only sent for a) content I am subscribed to b) other people's responses to my content (likes, quotes etc.)
Just because I opened a topic out of curiosity doesn't mean I want to be notified of new content in it.
It's extremely annoying. After a few weeks of browsing this 4.1 my reaction to a browser notification went from "Cool, there's something new, let's see what it is!" to "Ugh, I must've forgot to close the tab again".
Please disable this or at least add an option to control when browser notifications are sent.

It hasn't been released yet. They are still fixing bugs for 4.1.3 and the release note says November 4th. The ACP not for some people was an error.

The JS code line you need to search for in the database is:
document.title="❚❚ "+document.title.replace If you don't find a match for that exactly then search for:
document.title.replace and you should find a few matches in the core_javascript table.
    Change at your own risk.

Kirill N got a reaction from Joel R in Why are media embeds like this?
Can somebody please explain why IPS uses a different code (an iframe)? For example, this is the IPS code for Instagram:
    <div class="ipsEmbeddedOther" contenteditable="false"><iframe src="/?app=core&amp;module=system&amp;controller=embed&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Finstagram.com%2Fp%2F79cU-fJFHJ%2F%3Ftaken-by%3Dladygaga" data-controller="core.front.core.autoSizeIframe"></iframe></div> This is the original code Instagram offers:
    <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:50.0% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAAGFBMVEUiIiI9PT0eHh4gIB4hIBkcHBwcHBwcHBydr+JQAAAACHRSTlMABA4YHyQsM5jtaMwAAADfSURBVDjL7ZVBEgMhCAQBAf//42xcNbpAqakcM0ftUmFAAIBE81IqBJdS3lS6zs3bIpB9WED3YYXFPmHRfT8sgyrCP1x8uEUxLMzNWElFOYCV6mHWWwMzdPEKHlhLw7NWJqkHc4uIZphavDzA2JPzUDsBZziNae2S6owH8xPmX8G7zzgKEOPUoYHvGz1TBCxMkd3kwNVbU0gKHkx+iZILf77IofhrY1nYFnB/lQPb79drWOyJVa/DAvg9B/rLB4cC+Nqgdz/TvBbBnr6GBReqn/nRmDgaQEej7WhonozjF+Y2I/fZou/qAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div><p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;"><a href="https://instagram.com/p/79cU-fJFHJ/" style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none;" target="_top">A photo posted by The Countess (@ladygaga)</a> on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2015-09-23T04:40:29+00:00">Sep 22, 2015 at 9:40pm PDT</time></p></div></blockquote> <script async defer src="//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js"></script> Sure, the original code is way longer but I would prefer it was used instead because it loads instantly, unlike the iframe which looks like this for about 5 seconds before it loads (sometimes it stays like this):

    It's even worse on mobile.
