  1. I've been locked out of my test installation, which is strange because I'm sure that I had the right password saved in my browser but after the very first login attempt I get a message that I've been locked out and try again in 14 mins. This doesn't seem to expire. Is there a way to tweak a value or something on the file or SQL level to reset this so I can at least verify/change the password? Thanks! EDIT: problem solved
  2. Thanks @Andy Millne! I've run so many tests lately that this probably escaped me.
  3. Thanks for everyone's responses. @Sonya*, was there ever progress of any kind on your support ticket for this? Well, at least Adriano showed us a way to replace the resources...some of them anyway. Perhaps it's due to my custom theme.
  4. I've noticed that for both of my Invision sites (my test installation and production sites), every once in a while I find that a couple of images have been deleted from their folders. They're just gone, and I have no idea why. And it always seems to be the same two images: 1) The default Guest avatar .PNG (the one you see in the "Who's Online" list), and the default blog zig-zag pattern. Both of these images are located in a set_resources folder in the uploads directory, but that's the only correlation. No other images in any set_resources folder are ever touched as far as I can tell. I used to have this problem with the Invision Community banner on the adminCP login screen, but after raising this issue with Invision this has since been fixed (or at least it's never happened again since). Has anyone else ever experienced this? The problem is easy enough to fix - I can just upload the image files - but I'm perplexed as to why this would happen, and always to only these two files. I'm not entirely sure this is an Invision issue, which is why I'm following this up with my VPS provider as well. Thanks!
  5. Hey Marc...yeah, I think that about sums it up. One product, for example, which costs X by bank transfer and X plus, say, 4% (or whatever) to pay via PayPal. So yes, a percentage modification might work, but one which is separate from tax. My products are (so far) flat rates so I don't worry about tax too much, but maybe @OptimusBain and others could chime in with their thoughts on this?
  6. Same here. My MariaDB automatically updates as well, so I've always transitioned between versions seamlessly.
  7. Perhaps a selfish request (depending on how many other people have experienced this issue), but: any word on a fix for problems with large file uploads failing due to conflicts with https:// connections/SSL certificates? This said, I always look forward to Invision updates and the new functions! 🙂
  8. Ahh, so. Some of my clients had been switched to another member group and this setting hadn't been adjusted for the destination group. They had been able to use it before and it had disappeared, so this explains it. Thanks to everyone for their help!
  9. Some of my clients have reported to me that they are unable to use the attachment bar ("Drag files here to attach, or choose files...") in Private Messages. As in it doesn't even show up for them in some cases. I've suggested they clear their browser caches (and I've cleared the site cache several times), but the problem persists. I'm still gathering information on this, but my as-yet unproven theory is that they are using MacOS/Safari. I haven't had any problems using popular browsers (Firefox/Chrome/Edge) on a 64-bit Windows 10 platform. Just wondering if anyone else has reported this issue as well? Thanks!
  10. I also took a brief look at Discourse, and they make self-hosting a mission and a half for a great many people (not supporting self-hosting on CPanel/DirectAdmin/Plesk? Really?). Thanks....interesting!
  11. Yes, but there are people like me who have little use for browse bookmarks and prefer to keep things contained in the sties they visit. 😄 Instead of having to go into my browser's (sub)folders and delete/recreate bookmarks, I had envisioned something like being able to read a long thread, click a comment and "bookmark/re-bookmark" it so that I could progress through the debate/discussion. A further, non-related observation: if you talk to yourself while drunk you can still call it "social drinking" 🙂
  12. Some random observations: This thread is a perfect case study of the necessity of forums (you could never have this conversation on social media like Facebook) I don't know if there's a third-party plugin for this, but how about a "thread bookmark" function? I just spent a fair bit of time re-reading posts only to later come across my own, which means I had already read much of that material yesterday. 😄 What if one could bookmark a specific response (I'm a fan of drag-and-drop, but keep it simple I guess) so that with lengthy debates/discussions like this one could jump straight to where one left off reading previously? I'm neither a developer nor an Invision employee, but I see this thread as a massive opportunity for a meeting of the minds re: productive change. Crisis as opportunity kinda thing.
  13. @jesuralem makes a good point here @Matt, and it is industry standard to offer monthly (not that I'm suggesting this! lol) and bi-yearly as well as annual renewals. Some organisations (e.g. Adobe) even offer a slightly better rate for annual renewals up front. Hint, hint. 😉 😄
  14. Ahh, cool. Now GET BACK TO WORK ON IT [cracks whip] 😄
  15. There was a recent announcement that Zapier will be available for self-hosted customers as well. Just FYI. LOL....I was just asking because you said you were no longer going to support Gallery, and I assumed that LMS would be making some use of Gallery, seeing as (if I remember correctly) it involved Clubs, which in turn could involve Gallery. Not to mention (potentially) Blogs.
  16. I'm certainly not trying to tell you what to do; I don't like price increases either, but taken in context it has been the first price increase for some time now. It's an old story; prices rise across the board while income typically doesn't. But this also tells me that Invision probably won't be increasing their prices for another long(ish?) while. Don't get me wrong - if there's another price increase in a year or three I will be having serious second thoughts, but that's not the impression I'm getting. You make a very good point re: devs, though. Leaving aside the fact that it's a decision every dev must make on their own: if they shed apps from their own websites, that will also limit the sorts of apps they can develop in the future. I do, also, take issue with the fact that this really was sprung on everybody without giving them time to adjust their finances - especially during a pandemic, and let's remember: many of us might have our businesses online, but that doesn't make them COVID-proof. And, like many others, I wonder about what the reality on the ground will be re: having a forum for first-response troubleshooting (I know several other sites do it, but how it actually plays out remains to be seen). I'm not planning to go anywhere anytime soon, and I'm still dedicated to the Invision platform (even if I can no longer afford the second license I was considering). But what worries me is how this price increase will reverberate through the Marketplace and influence the frequency and quality of developer projects. Over time one learns who the reliable developers are, and I for one see some legitimate grievances. And while Invision's software never personally struck me as much of a "hobbyist" platform, that market is there and obviously stands to be worst hit by such a sudden increase. As for the skyrocketing premium Support price....whoa. It seems like a very radical all-or-standard solution; what about a more tiered selection of Support options?
  17. Heh...yeah, I think Jordan's job is much more difficult than it appears. He has to deal with complainers (including me, who really knows how to complain about select things when he feels it's warranted! 😄), and I bet has to repeat the same things over and over again in different ways so that people understand. The wonderful world of PR!
  18. Except that there are those of us who rely on this functionality as part of our business structure, and not necessarily standalone blogs or galleries but as part of other modules such as Clubs.
  19. Huh...no surprise you're responsible for this Ehren... Great work though! And I didn't know you were now part of the Invision team. Good choice, Invision - I've been with Ehren's themes for a long time now and they never disappoint! So is this just for Invision's site or is there a tweaked default theme in the works for future releases?
  20. Oohh, new Invision portal (is this a new default theme?)....nice and shiny! 😃 Although when I clicked on "Our Community" from the Client Area the drop-down menu was blank. Looks great though!
  21. I've noticed that when I get email notification that a new Member has registered on my website, some of the profile data is incorrectly parsed/formatted: The same formatting error is visible when I view the new Member's address in the Profile Data window, under the Member View in the adminCP. Is this a known issue? Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the response @Jimi Wikman. I'm uploading through Invision's Add File page from the Downloads module. The added twist: a colleague of mine in Toronto has been able to successfully upload a 1.2GB file (without progress meter). I can also download it without issues. So I'm wondering if it's a combination of the lack of a progress meter with whatever effects that might have on my throughput/timeout (I'm in Australia; my server is on the US West Coast).
  23. OK, sooooo, wondering if any of you server gurus have any insights on this? Long story short: I am unable to upload the large files (~600MB and even up to 1GB) I need to work with clients on my production site. The uploads inevitably fail (no progress meters at all, although I know this is a known issue Invision is fixing) with an Invision error -200, and the server error I always get is: [Thu Sep 09 21:17:32.111198 2021] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 22642:tid 140608424314624] (103)Software caused connection abort: [client 180.216.235.107:64431] AH01075: Error dispatching request to : (reading input brigade), referer: https://XXX.XXX/index.php?/files/submit/&do=submit&category=1 Now, there's a wrinkle to this story. To troubleshoot this issue I've tried test installs on several different accounts on my VPS, on both top-level and in subfolders. Every single one of them fails the same way with the exception of my original test installation, which was in a subfolder. That installation works perfectly, and I even get the upload progress meter! Added wrinkle: when I tried a clean, brand spanking-new test install in the top level of the same domain as my original test install, it failed. Only when I restored my original test installation from a backup file did I get the working version back. My VPS provider is currently troubleshooting the issue, which (pardon my layperson language) seems to have something to do with server timeouts or something. Yet my existing test install works just fine (and all of these accounts are on the same VPS). This would seem to rule out the Invision software, and would mean there is some config anomaly in my test install separate to the other sites. Anyone familiar with this error? Thanks!
