When you suspend a member (in the Warn Page) - The member automatically will be moved to Banned Group and his title will be changed to Banned. When he's back from the ban, he will automatically be back to the Members Group and his title will be changed. PM - You've been warned! Category Supervisor - In the Forums tabs in the ACP, you can choose a category and add her a moderator. Thanks!

Please get back topic icons in forum view!!!
I'm really disappointed that IPB 3.x lost that feature.
In my forum topic icons are much appreciated both by mods and users because they differentiate posts "at a glance".
So I prefer don't update to 3.x and remain with 2.x.
    Really bad

I'm rather curious about this statement. In reviewing your account history, it appears nearly all of your tickets are answered within a matter of a few hours. Some within a matter of minutes. The only one I've found that's been open for a lengthy amount of time was your upgrade request, which was initially answered within an hour. We didn't have the necessary FTP information, thus there was a slight delay in that. We then, as a courtesy, worked with you to transfer language packs from other forums (something not typically within the scope of our support service) and resolved character set issues. I feel we've been quite accommodating, hence my confusion with this post. It's quite possible that you're referring to another ticket that I've overlooked, in which case, I do apologize. Naturally, we're not perfect and issues do occasionally fall through the cracks. On the whole, we strive for prompt, efficient service. With scheduling, this works out to be almost 24/7 -- we've recently ramped up basic weekend support.

There's always room for improvement -- I simply want to ensure we're on the same page. :)

    Luke: No, it does not.

The only problem I've had with the service so far is the support. I have a ticket that needs to be dealt with immediately but you guys don't open until 9AM.

    Another suggestion:

    Spam User

Now when is someone marked as Spam User, there are possibilities:

Do nothing Disable Post/PM permission Disable Post/PM and unapprove posts Unapprove posts, empty profile and ban account

Well, there could be another option (move to specified group). Although last option (... ban account) is good possibility but I want to exclude those users from Members group. When I send bulk mail to Members I don't want to send mail to Spammers. They are banned but still in Members group.

OK, maybe is little soon, but I heard something that new features will be included in 3.1.0 version.

    My first suggestion:

This could by unavailable to guests. They really do not need to know what are regular members doing on board and we save some queries.

Put "View Today's Active Topics" back in a place where people can find it, got TONS of members who use the 24 hour, weekly, etc to browse through stuff, but have a helluva time finding that wimpy little link at the bottom of the forum index page.

I imagine this has already been stated, but the report center is quite lacking in finesse compared to what it was in 2.3... Two changes in particular that I would like to see made to it:

    - The ability to view the report and comments directly from the topic via an AJAX popup, a la warn logs.

    - Moving or hiding [spoiler-like] the post in post reports, so that it's not necessary to scroll past the [sometimes multiple-page-long] post in order to see the actual report.

In general, it seems to me that the system as a whole should be more streamlined and conducive to handling reports en masse. The 2.3 application had that; 3.0's doesn't.

We need a toggle button to switch between visual (RTE) editor, which should be placed directly directly on the Fast Reply box, and Full Editor mode box. Right now, the only way to switch between modes is by going to settings --> Posting Settings --> Enable visual (RTE) editor

I know someone also brought this up, but I will emphasize it. We need expiring redirects (and the user can set the specified time in hours, days, months, or a custom time) for moved threads. Also, we need a way to manage and set existing "moved threads" in the ACP. For example, with the new update, existing moved threads will not have this expiring redirect applied. In the ACP, please add a section where the admin can view all moved threads, and set expiring redirects as desired.

    Thanks! :)

I was a long time vbulletin user. Watched and participated in the discussions on EZBoard when John first started to develop vbulletin and was the first install on a large active site converting from UBB. I was the first to test the converter, John sent me many variations until it was right, and use it to convert the site I owned at the time. I never really thought I would ever use any other software. A couple months ago I decided having all my eggs in one basket wasn't a good idea. Many of the things that were going on with IB looked eerily similar to what was happening with UBB years ago. I bought my first IPB license for a new site. Since then IB decided that long time, loyal customers like me had no place with them and basically kicked us to the curb. I have since bought 2 more forum licenses and one suite license and converted 2 of my sites. I have 5 sites left. More licenses will be bought over the course of the next month or so I will convert the rest of my communities.

I am thoroughly impressed the software and the support. It says a lot when the owner, Matt, offers help via twitter. It used to be that way with John. It helps to build loyalty and trust. The software itself runs far better than vbulletin. I will be here for a long time and want to say thanks for opening my eyes. If I didn't buy my first license I would never have seen how powerful IPB is.

I agree, but it should be a bit more complex, it should save their original group and then put them in the banned group. So if you unban them they'll get their old groups back.

    You mean moderators per category?

It's a good idea and it should be an admin option, not everybody runs their site the same way you know.

It would be nice to set a ban reason which is displayed to the user when they try to access the forum and are presented with the no permissions page, also the ban reason to be shown in the admin/mod logs along with who banned the user - ban logs..

Being able to temp ban a member and customize the length of time they are banned for. Temp ban a member for a day, a week, two weeks, a month, or several months or as long as an administrator or moderator decides. When temp banning a member, automatically switch their group to "banned", when their ban expires they are automatically moved back into their original group as mentioned by the member above. I obviously mean a much more advanced banning/warn system that what is currently in place, not just the usual warn, suspend, ban system we have which is quite limited.

Here's one that I'm sure will get some +'s

Reverifying account information, namely, email addresses. Over time, some members may switch to a new email account and forget to update their account information to reflect this. So with that in mind, a few ACP settings.

    Tools & Settings/Security
    Enable account email re-verification? Yes/No
How long after notification before member loses access? [__] immediately/minutes/hours/days

    Then, per member group
How often to re-verify email address? [__] days (0 to disable for that group)

When the member visits again, they get sent to a special page that tells them that for security purposes, they need to verify their information. They can be given the choice to do it right then or to continue without it at that point (unless the time limit is set to immediate). After the notice and the specified time period, any visits to the board will require that they verify their email address. What this would mean is that they would be shown the currently used email address, with the ability to change it. If they put in a different email address, then they need to enter it again (to make sure it's correct). After that, they press a button to verify and then click a link in the email they get. The email simply tells the board to reset their account (ie, account was last verified at date/time).

This would help keep email addresses current and in doing so, could reduce the risk of an email address being dropped, but then someone else making the same email address (like on sites where email addresses can drop and someone else can register the same email address). Because then all that new person has to do, if they know an account with that email exists, is do a password reset and then they can gain access to an established account.

Not only that but if you need to contact a member for any reason, it helps to know that you have a valid email address to reach them at. Also, if someone sends them a PM or if they are watching forums/topics/etc, when notifications are sent out, less chances of something bouncing.

This would be different from putting an account into "awaiting validation" mode, as it would be specially flagged to either give them a warning of impending doom (ie, account will become disabled) and once disabled, the account would be unusable until re-verified. This should also disable any other emails sent to the member (the aforementioned PM's and watched forums/topics notifications). That way if an account does end up with an invalidated email address, there won't be bouncing emails.

One other thought on this. If the email address IS changed during the re-verification process, an email should be sent to the old email address, giving notice of the change. The drawback is that if the account is closed/etc, it will bounce. But if someone is changing it without authorization, then the original account holder would be alerted to the action.

Also, changes during the re-verification process should be logged. Account name, old email address, new email address, IP used (as well as browser and OS type). For an admin that knows the member being affected, if they say it wasn't them and they see strange information (I know for a fact that they'd never us Windows! gasp! for example), then they can easily restore the account.

    :D

What I want to see in 3.1.

Thread Tagging Option for users to ignore/hide threads based on tags. Option to make it so that when moderators ban a user the user's group is changed to the banned group. it is so annoying having to log into the admin CP and change a member's group manually. And it makes it extremely hard to make a system where banned members can view an appeal forum, because if they're banned by a moderator then there's no way to give them access to an appeals forum until the admin changes their group. No more hard coded special permissions for super moderators. I don't want my mods (or admins for that matter) mass deleting posts, but if I have super mods they're automatically allowed to mass delete and there's no way to set it so they can't. This seems so stupid when you realize that you have pretty much complete control over admin permissions yet all these super mod permissions can't be changed at all...

    Also a few ideas;

Bump feature - to be able to bump topics, group permissions obviously.

Glance feature or Top 5 stats, this would be in the form of a box across the top of the main forum index page show the latest topics and replies

I would love the ability to override a usergroup's permissions on a per-forum basis the way you can with vBulletin.
Example: You run a company board, with a "help desk" forum, you want to give members the ability to open/close their own topics in that section, but not across the entire board. At present this cannot be done with IPB3, but it can with vBulletin.

I would also love a "changelog", such that when a member or moderator edits their post after so many minutes the edited-by link would bring up a post comparison option. This would be very useful, if a moderator edits a members post, as you could see what was edited out and compare the versions. It is also useful if a member tries to delete their posts by editing them as you could see what was previously written.

I would like to see the reputation system expanded to include the 'standard' features present in other systems, including the mods for IPB 2.3 and vBulletin:

When giving a member rep, member should be required to enter a reason. Members should be able to list in their profile, the different reps given to them by other members. Require members to rep X number of other members, before being allowed to rep the same member again (useful to prevent someone neg-repping the same person over and over).

Find all posts by member X in this topic Allow members to choose their own order for forum categories (perhaps by drag and drop via a new area of 'Your Settings') Individual 'Post Edit History' for moderators and admins - like on Wikipedia If a member has set their gender to female - use a female silhouette as the default personal picture.
