Any update on this? It would be a lot more cost effective for us to store files on GCP rather than S3.

    Hello,

I noticed that Amazon S3 has been supported by IPS for quite a while now. Google's offering is argued to be cheaper and faster.
Will IPS support Google Cloud Storage / Google Cloud CDN in the near future?

We are going to add additional storage options as S3 can be mind blowing for some, but have not landed on any specifically. We're certainly open to suggestions and will consider Google.

Thank you for your replies.  Where does Invision Power Services Inc. stand on the matter?

I don't know if there are still CDNs that are origin push only, but those would no be supported by IPS.
In this particular case, the Google Cloud CDN imposes restrictions on the origin.  Not sure whether Google Cloud Storage is among the acceptable origins, though.

    I had the same issue.

IPB forums rely on 3rd party mods, hooks etc. It is no good to say its all OK when using IPB made hooks. That's a cop out I am afraid. Unless of course, you are going to recreate ALL the 3rd party hooks and offer them to us?

It is one thing offering the hooks feature and another when we find out its not exactly as advertised.

IPS Staff: I hate to say this but the IPS Upgrades are becoming a real inconvenient Annoyance.

What am I talking about? Everytime there is a service update to IPB (2.0.1, 3.0.2, etc) the upgrade creates havok with the hooks that I have installed. Not only do I have to disable the hooks, but, they have to be un-installed and then re-installed. The upgrades are not anticipating already installed hooks and adjusting for them and it's becoming an annoyance.

Does IPS plan on fixing this problem or is this going to be a regular 'romp and stomp' action with every upgrade/update? For one, I would love to see this corrected.

One very useful feature would be to have the ability, with the appropriate permission settings, to see the original version of an edited post, and all versions of the edited post of course. For example where it puts the Edit by line, to also mention the original version, or the first edit, if there was a second edit, etc etc.

In General Config, the "Website Name" and "Website Address" should have the option to open that link in a new window, or at least have the related setting in "Topics Posts and Polls" control it.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd like to use that spot to link to another site and open it in a new window so you don't navigate away from the Forum.

Well done releasing IPB 3 RC1! You did amazing job!

After all hard work you did.. I think you should start charging people if they want to upgrade to IPB 3 Final for like $20 or something. I don't mind paying.

If they don't want to pay they will have to wait for 1 year for free upgrade to IPB 3 (with IPB licence). Of course IPB 2.3.x security update will be provided only.

    Think about Marketing ;)

We posted a blog entry about this recently. Basically, RC1 can be considered "safe" to use in that your forum won't implode or anything :) but there could still be some bugs.

You could always wait a few days after we post RC1 to see if there are any reports of major bugs or problems and evaluate from there.

I also think it would be a handy thing to show the user.

Possibly have 2 boxes to enter the ban reason, one that is shown to the user and one for admin users so you can elaborate on the reason for other administrators. If none is entered for the admin it uses the same reason as the user, if none is entered for the reason nothing is shown for them.

    Hello everyone

I have a small suggestion to make
The reason why a member is banned is not shown to the banned member when he logs in after being banned.
This feature is there in vBulletin
Would like to see it in IPB also

    Do you agree with me???

Bashers...I'd recommend you just wait for final if you can't handle there being bugs in the software. Even then, I don't know that you'll be pleased, because I can guarantee that 3.0.0 final will have bugs in it. As will 3.0.1. As will 3.0.2. And 3.1.0. And every other release.

We are putting in all our efforts to ensure that the 3.0.0 final release is as stable as humanly possible. There are more code changes in this release than virtually any other release we've ever put out (definitely more code changes than any release I've personally been involved with) so we've been taking our time to make sure we get things right. If this bothers you, and you'd really we just rushed it, then I can only recommend you step back and just wait for the final release. We will publicly announce it when final is available.
