Adriano Faria Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) Â I am asking because I see a lot of "ratings" in templates and files but no option in the forums to enable it. {{if $topic->container()->allow_rating}} {template="rating" group="global" location="front" app="core" params="'large', $topic->rating_hits ? ( $topic->rating_total / $topic->rating_hits ) : 0"} {{endif}} etc. Edited November 26 by Adriano Faria
Marc Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Yes, there are no topic ratings on v5. Mike G. and Adriano Faria 2
EliasM Posted November 26 Posted November 26 This was originally a useless tool, it's good that they removed it Matt 1
Management Matt Posted November 26 Management Posted November 26 You can still do this in Pages databases.

SeNioR- Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I understand that you used it for Movies and other apps, but the fact that this module was removed shouldn't surprise anyone because Matt or Marc (I don't remember) wrote about it a few months ago. In fact, I think it was even listed in the Deprecation Tracker, although I don't see it now.

Anyway, not a big deal for my apps as I can write my own rating system. Also, not for me; a client has an interesting use of it and we’ll be impacted. Edited November 26 by Adriano Faria Ticaga 1

Frankly, I did not understand the reason for adding it in the first place, as it is useless and there is no way to use it, no one uses the evaluation system for forum topics

opentype Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I am looking for clarification regarding the original claims about changing the rating functionality. Matt said Ratings would be removed from 5.x, which I am not seeing (except for not exposing ratings in forums anymore). So was it cancelled? Postponed? What’s the official position and status? Matt said ratings in Pages might be kept and existing ratings might be converted. Was that implemented? Or is not necessary because nothing has actually changed so far (which is what it seems to me).Â
Marc Posted Thursday at 12:13 PM Posted Thursday at 12:13 PM Ratings have not been removed from pages. Only forums. So there isn't anything for you to do there

Pages and Articles but not forums? I wanted to allow members to create posts in forums for movies and music that could be discussed, reviewed, and rated. Now, aside from polls, which tool would work for that purpose? Edited Thursday at 09:45 PM by salvi
Hatsu Posted Thursday at 09:54 PM Posted Thursday at 09:54 PM (edited) After removal of the topic rating in Forums this seems to only relate to records in Pages / Files in Downloads and Gallery I guess.. You have to switch to a Pages database where the possibility to rate a record is still available. Edited Thursday at 09:54 PM by Hatsu

Reviews are used in quite a few areas. Forums dont have reviews (not previously either). Areas like downloads, commerce products, and pages databases if switched on would have reviews

Do you mean star ratings or just comment fields categorized as reviews?
opentype Posted Saturday at 06:41 AM Posted Saturday at 06:41 AM A rating is just a value (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), a review necessarily contains a review text in addition to the numerical value.Â

We can Rate the article in the article post and/or add a Review (which is a comment that includes a star rating system, which i assume would add to the star rating within the original article post). the details are missing from the help docs on a lot of things, though i understand that there's a great deal to cover.
