Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
jwdenzel Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I use Amazon SES for my SMTP mail service. It works great, but they require that we “have a plan” for bounced emails and complaints. Does IPS track which emails bounce? What options do I, the admin, have to handle those bounces? If something hard bounces, can I have the system automatically unsubscribe them?
marklcfc Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 In the same situation, gone up to 1% bounced and would rather sort it if possible
Joel R Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 You can check Mail Bouncer by @stoo2000 would be appropriate for you. I don't know if it integrated with Amazon SES so you'll need to check in his support topic.
stoo2000 Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I'm planning on adding Amazon SES support at some point, but it's not there yet.
jwdenzel Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 @stoo2000: Awesome. Looks exactly like what we need. Do you have an ETA for SES support? I'll purchase as soon as you do, and it looks like at least one other person is in the same boat.
jesuralem Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 @stoo2000 support for sendinblue would also be amazing 🙂
Fast Lane! Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Yes, please add support. Managing bounced emails is critical.

If something hard bounces, can I have the system automatically unsubscribe them? The Invision Community software does not do anything (out of the box) at this time related to bounces. It would be up to you to monitor bounces and unsubscribe people if needed. For our Community In The Cloud clients, we handle bounces to the extent necessary (e.g. if an email address routinely bounces, we may block further emails from being sent to that address) to comply with necessary requirements implemented by the email provider we use.
