sobrenome Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 IPS adds a copyright link to every page of the communities. To better SEO, I would like to add a "nofollow" directive to the link. I don't want to remove the link, only add the "nofollow"meta tag for SEO purposes. I have tried to search the code on the template, but could not find it. I guess it's hard embedded on php code. Anyone has tried the same thing? Thanks.
AndyF Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'm not sure if its permitted to change it (I realise that's not a visual change) but it might be considered a 'change' Yes its hardcoded in a file, I won't mention which one...
sobrenome Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 Could IPS team make it clear? I guess there is no violation of the terms just add a meta tag "no follow". It's not a copyright removal, not the link removal. Just a search engine directive. Anyone could help about this matter?
AndyF Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 That's part of the reason I've not posted saying "open this file and ..." , I'd want the official answer first really before I did that. It may be best to submit a ticket in the Client Area for the 'official' answer on this.
MADMAN32395 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Personally I find it odd that you cant even affix the referral ips link to it. AFAIK the referral money goes towards the licenses anyway.
AndyF Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'd have to guess its simply a 'no change' rule. Although it might seem a bit harsh I guess its to avoid opening a 'can-o-worms' in what is / is not acceptable to change.
Loren Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 You can always buy "Copyright Removal" in your client area.
sobrenome Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 I don't want to remove the copyright. Just do some SEO.
sobrenome Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 The copyright term is: modify and/or remove any copyright notices or labels on the Software on each page (unless copyright output removal license is purchased) and in the header of each script source file Addind a nofollow meta tag will not modify the copyright notice or label. https://www.invisionpower.com/legal/standards#license It's an invisible modification just for machines, not for users.
Rhett Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 The rules are clear on this, as they are stated below. You cannot: modify and/or remove any copyright notices or labels on the Software on each page (unless copyright output removal license is purchased) and in the header of each script source file If you have a SEO recommendation you can submit this in the feedback area as well for review. Thank you
sobrenome Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 For my understanding copyright notice or label is based on the reading, not on the meta information. But thanks a lot for the answer, I will suggest as feedback!
