Geoffro73 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hi guys, In previous versions of IPS you have been able to hit the preview post tab before posting, it seems to have gone with the 4.0 upgrade, Any way of getting it back? Cheers

Meddysong Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I recall Brandon explaining once that the option is gone because the whole purpose of a WYSIWYG editor is that you can see what you're going to post, so there's no need to preview it.

That's the general idea yes as the editor / post window should be more or less accurate to what is posted when you submit it.
rgf100 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Which is a bit odd considering IPB maintains BBCode is supported. I habitually type with url and quote tags, as no doubt do many other people. A preview function would be nice.

I usually type smilies in as well.

IPS4 supports the parsing of BBCode but this is primarily out of legacy appreciation, not meant to be commonly used. Bringing back other items when the idea is to phase out BBCode is not a good idea.

Compared to what Mark said in the linked topic... IPS4 supports BBCode and we have no intention to remove that in the foreseeable future. It would be nice to know what the actual plan is. Are there keyboard shortcuts for links and quotes?

To link: Highlight the text you want to link and click the button, paste the URL. To quote: Paste text you want to quote, highlight it and press the quote button.
rgf100 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 That's a mouse shortcut, also known as the long way round. I mean keyboard shortcuts, such as CTRL+B for bold - every time I use my mouse unnecessarily a fairy dies...
