Nice.

I had someone wanting me to make an app involving events, RSVP, etc.... years and years ago and he gave me hundreds up front and then after I worked on it a while he totally disappeared and has never contacted me again! Very odd. I don't think he even contacted me at all after the original payment. I did quite a bit and then stopped.

Well you are right translating with out knowing where the text is used is meaningless. What would translators benefit greatly is where text is used so you know in what file or template the text is being called from that why its easier to know where the text is being used.

Where a string is used (which, by the way, can be in multiple locations throughout the software and not necessarily just in one place) is not something the language system really needs to or should know. This isn't something language packs can account for, and even if they did (e.g. if they knew this instance of "post" was being used on the post submission screen) you still don't have the context of what words are on the same page and what the word is intended to convey. This is where the visual language editor greatly helps because you can edit words as you see them on the page. You have the full context available.

What about new IP.Downloads conversion? Will be it possible?

I am unclear what you are asking.

Would it be possible at this stage to say what will convert from 3.x.x to 4.0.0 without any major issues and what will need attention?

I believe that IPContent is one of the main contenders here as many people will have customised it to suit their needs with HTML and CSS - will such customisations transfer as is, or might there be issues?

Hello

Is there any news about lang import it was very difficult in past we hope to see it much more easier to import large lang package

Yes, this was a focus point for 4.0, the issues with imports should not be present in 4.0

Problem with language editor is it will be another feature requiring active support, which defeats the purpose of perpetuals I spent money on. And right now, whether it be intentional or accidental (I don't know), I can';t even freakin manage my files from contributor center. I remember some article about support not needing to be active for ability to manage files, but whether that included contributor center or not, I don't know. I do know I haven't renewed support in years and could use that and the special forums until only days ago. At least contributor center should be available to anyone who has files up, as it's simply managing files just as the marketplace pages themselves. I can't even remember the link to add a topic to the marketplace blog forum or w/e it's called because there's no link in an obvious place.

When did they ever say it would require active support to be used? In the >blog entry itself there is no mention of that unless I missed it in another entry?

As for managing your files I believe it's been stated that you need active support to manage them, then again I don't have any of my paid files on here so I'm unsure on how it works exactly.

And the link to post in marketplace blog is in the contributor center you just mentioned ;)

Because Visual skin editor is only for active support people and this is called visual language editor, so I assume it will be the same. As for the other, they said somewhere you didn't need active support to be able to upload and manage files to marketplace, and it still allows me to do that, but would be very odd if contributor center is handled differently.

Btw, both of those editing features are mighty good ideas.

You don't need an active support license to use the visual language editor. Please don't jump to conclusions

In fact, for those that missed it, the visual skin editor (now called "Easy Mode Editor") is available in 4.0 without the need to keep your license active as well.

Hello.

I wonder when we will be entitled to a preview of IP.Content which is expected by everyone, is that the change will be really important or it will be a small change? I hope IP.Content will be taken with the utmost attention by what I think is the most beautiful and most powerful application of IPS

My guess is that IP.Content just isn't quite ready yet, and until it's reasonably finalized, they can't start publishing functionality or definitively answer questions...especially since we (users) tend to hang them on such information they share as set in stone "Commandment" type commitments.

Given the dodge (yeah I said dodge, that's a legitimate use of the word since the requests for info have generally been ignored ) of IP.Content related questions, that leads me to believe a release may not be ready for some time still. Of course, that's an assumption...and we all know about assumptions.

In the meantime, I just try to be patient, and every time I see new blog entry I get a little excited it might be IP.Content related and then I find it's not and put one more wrap around the noose I'm building

I'd like to see the "Quote" redesigned. That whole 'headline' area that displays "Quote" seems to be stuck from previous versions. I'd like to see a standard quote box similar to this:

Quote (User 1234): test

Instead of:

Test

Nice, bfarber.

Don't take this next statement as a complaint, exactly, but IF we have to have a license to even work with other contributors on updating for 4.0 that is not a good decision, in my opinion. So far, through my ticket, I haven't found out if losing access to contributor center or contributor forums was intentional or not, but if it's intentional, I would really suggest that IPS think it through because why should someone have to pay for support to see their list of people who bought their apps? I can't know who to offer support to if I can't even see the list and in an article it says we have full access to marketplace without a license and I think contributor center should be considered part of marketplace, or I can't see who bought my apps! And why should support be needed to even work with other people on the promised early availability of betas and forums to help get things updated for 4.0?

If it's intentional I really hiope it's thought over and at least give back access to those areas, and really even the contributor forums, as part of why IPS changed rules for marketplace use was to help contributors out and I don't want to ruin the plus of a perpetual by renewing a license just to see a list of who bought apps and to get help speeding up 4.0 releases. It helps the customers if we can all update things asap.
